What has Capcom said about RE ENGINE and REX?
RE ENGINE is described as a company-wide tool
Capcom’s 2025 RE ENGINE overview says the engine supports multiple platforms and that Capcom uses it to create all of its titles. This general description does not identify Resident Evil 10 or confirm that the game is being developed.
REX is an engine roadmap, not an RE10 announcement
In its 2025 Integrated Report, Capcom says it is developing REX, or RE neXt Engine, as a next-generation engine. The company describes a plan to evolve RE ENGINE incrementally and integrate new technologies, rather than replace it outright. The report does not connect REX or that roadmap to Resident Evil 10.

Why the RE ENGINE upgrade news is about Requiem, not Resident Evil 10
Capcom’s announcement identifies Resident Evil Requiem as a separate title developed using RE ENGINE. It names PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC as platforms, then adds Nintendo Switch 2 in a later announcement. In a PlayStation Blog post dated February 27, 2026, Capcom engine-development manager Masaru Ijuin discussed an upgraded RE ENGINE specifically in connection with Resident Evil Requiem. The statement is not confirmation of an engine choice for Resident Evil 10.

What to conclude about PS5 and PlayStation 6
Neither PS5 nor PlayStation 6 is confirmed as a Resident Evil 10 platform in the sources reviewed. Capcom’s general engine information and Requiem’s announced platforms cannot be used to infer a release target for an unconfirmed project. Capcom reported that the Resident Evil series had sold over 170 million units in 2025, a franchise-wide figure. It shows the scale of the series, but says nothing about Resident Evil 10’s development or release plans. The figure appears in Capcom’s 2025 Integrated Report.
