You can relay a Hindi devotional music stream to YouTube through an NGINX RTMP server, but the safe setup depends on the exact NGINX distribution, module, and outbound process you use. The available official NGINX instructions cover F5 NGINX Plus’s RTMP dynamic module—not a complete, verified configuration for the separately maintained community nginx-rtmp-module. Before sending anything to YouTube, secure the music rights, obtain the stream URL and key from YouTube Live Control Room, and test a representative stream.
What the streaming path looks like
A typical arrangement has three parts: a source that provides audio and video, an encoder or relay that sends the stream, and YouTube’s ingest service. NGINX RTMP may receive or relay the incoming feed. Another component may encode it or push it onward to YouTube; whether NGINX itself can perform that outbound step depends on the installed module and configuration.
For a continuous devotional music channel, decide where the source will run and which component is responsible for encoding, reconnecting, and sending to YouTube. A relay does not create or encode media unless the software and configuration provide those functions. The YouTube endpoint and key must be the ones issued for the specific stream.
Clear music rights before streaming
Hindi devotional music is not automatically free to broadcast because it is religious, old, or available online. YouTube’s livestream terms make the provider responsible for having the rights needed to exploit live content and any archive on Google services, including applicable music rights from artists, labels, publishers, and other participants. Check both the composition and recording
Confirm permission for the musical composition and the particular sound recording. Check that the license covers live streaming, relevant territories, archiving, and monetization where those apply to your channel and agreement. Permission for one recording or use does not necessarily cover another.
Expect live matching and possible interruption
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match can trigger a warning, interrupt the stream, or terminate it; a rights holder may need to add a licensed channel to its Content ID allowlist. An archived replay may receive a Content ID claim after the live broadcast. YouTube explains this in its copyright guidance for live streams.
YouTube’s safe-music guidance points to public-domain works, music used with permission, and the YouTube Audio Library as safer options. Music marketed online as “free” can still be flagged. Read any outside catalog’s license for the specific live and archived uses you intend; “royalty-free” is not a blanket grant.
Get the YouTube ingest URL and stream key

Open YouTube Live Control Room and select or create the live stream you intend to use. Locate the stream URL and stream key shown for that stream.

If the encoder or relay supports secure ingest, reveal and copy YouTube’s RTMPS URL rather than assuming the standard RTMP address is the one you need. YouTube documents RTMPS as RTMP over TLS/SSL and specifies port 443 in its RTMPS setup instructions.

Use the URL and key issued for that stream, not a hard-coded server address from an unrelated example. YouTube’s Live Streaming API documentation describes primary and backup ingestion addresses and a stream name/key.

Protect the key like a credential: keep it out of public configuration repositories, screenshots, and logs. If it is exposed, rotate it in YouTube’s controls and update the sender.
Choose a compatible NGINX route
F5 NGINX Plus dynamic module
F5’s NGINX RTMP module instructions cover the NGINX Plus dynamic module package named nginx-plus-module-rtmp. They describe installing the package for a supported operating system, loading the module in the main configuration context, checking the configuration with nginx -t, and reloading with nginx -s reload.
Those instructions establish the module’s installation lifecycle; they do not provide a complete application configuration for receiving a feed and pushing it to YouTube. Confirm your operating system and NGINX Plus compatibility against F5’s current documentation, then validate the actual relay and outbound process in that environment.
Community nginx-rtmp-module
The community arut/nginx-rtmp-module is separate from F5’s NGINX Plus package. The official F5 page does not establish community-module build commands, compatibility, or a complete YouTube relay configuration. Because an unverified directive or build command can leave the stream unable to start—or silently use the wrong transport—do not treat an arbitrary online snippet as a tested setup.
Before deploying this route, identify the exact NGINX distribution, operating system and version, module version, and outbound RTMPS-capable process. Follow the matching project and platform documentation, then test configuration and connectivity on that system. The reviewed official material is not enough to give safe copy-and-paste community-module relay directives.
Set encoder parameters and test the path
YouTube recommends selecting a bitrate that the actual upload connection can sustain, testing with audio and movement similar to the planned stream, and monitoring stream health. Its encoder settings guidance lists H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 video for RTMP/RTMPS, AAC or MP3 audio, and frame rates up to 60 fps. These are YouTube’s published options, not a guarantee that every encoder or NGINX module supports every combination.

Use stable settings, not theoretical maximums

Choose a resolution and bitrate your sustained upload can handle, leaving headroom rather than targeting the full nominal capacity of the connection.

Use constant bitrate (CBR), as YouTube recommends for encoder settings.

Set a two-second keyframe interval; YouTube says it should not exceed four seconds.

For stereo audio, YouTube’s guidance lists 44.1 kHz and 128 kbps. Confirm that the selected encoder supports the chosen audio codec and settings.

Check the settings supported by your particular encoder, relay, and YouTube ingest mode before launch.
Run a controlled preflight

Configure the source, relay, encoder, and YouTube ingest credentials without exposing the stream key.

Run a private, unlisted, or otherwise controlled test before scheduling a public broadcast. Use representative audio and video; for a music stream, also check how a still image or visual loop behaves.

Watch YouTube’s stream-health indicators and verify that audio remains continuous, the picture behaves as intended, and the sender recovers after a deliberate or naturally occurring connection interruption.

Decide whether the broadcast should create an archive, and confirm that your music rights cover that replay as well as the live transmission.
Troubleshoot common failures

YouTube does not receive the stream: Check that the URL and key belong to the selected live stream, that the sender supports the chosen RTMPS endpoint, and that the connection can reach the documented port 443. Recheck the sender’s configuration without printing the key into logs.

NGINX refuses to reload: Run
nginx -tbefore reloading. Confirm the module package matches the NGINX distribution and that the module is loaded in the correct main configuration context. The F5 procedure applies to NGINX Plus’s package, not automatically to the community module. -
The stream is unstable or YouTube reports poor health: Reduce bitrate or resolution, ensure the chosen bitrate is sustainable on the real upload connection, and test again while monitoring stream health.

Audio or video is missing or incompatible: Verify that the component doing the encoding supports the selected codec, frame rate, and audio settings. A relay does not necessarily encode or repair a source feed.

The live stream is warned, interrupted, or terminated: Check for third-party-content matching and resolve rights with the relevant owner. A license may require channel allowlisting; review the resulting archive for a later claim as well.

The stream stops after a disconnect: Check which component is responsible for reconnecting and whether it resumes with the same stream credentials. Include a reconnect check in the controlled preflight rather than assuming the relay will recover.
