First check whether the saved screenshot is actually blank or whether only Fluxguard’s comparison viewer looks blank. The viewer removes JavaScript and some other resources, so it can display interactive content differently from the captured page. If the archived screenshot is empty or incomplete, check Inclusion Filters, exclusions and blocked resources, and capture timing; then run a fresh crawl and inspect its screenshot, HTML, text and network activity.
First establish what is blank
Open the exact page version and check the archived screenshot separately from the side-by-side comparison or version view. Fluxguard says its comparison views load captured HTML in iframes and remove JavaScript and some other resources. That can make interactive areas look wrong without proving that the saved screenshot is empty. The viewer may also hide content behind interactive elements; Fluxguard says Viewer Helper CSS can force some areas to remain open, under Session Settings → General → Advanced. Fluxguard FAQ
Fluxguard documents captures that include a screenshot, complete HTML, extracted text and a HAR network profile. Check these artifacts for the same version: an empty screenshot with useful HTML or text points to a different problem than an empty page across all artifacts. Check Inclusion Filters and selectors
If you use an Inclusion Filter and receive a blank-page alert, Fluxguard says no Inclusion Filter matched. The filter may be configured incorrectly, or the target area may no longer exist on the page. Monitor Changes to Specific Areas of a Web Page

- Inspect the target element in your browser’s developer tools and confirm it is present on the current page.
- Compare its current selector with the filter. Prefer a short, stable selector over a deeply nested path: Fluxguard warns that hierarchical selectors can break when page scaffolding changes.
- Save the change, manually start a new crawl and verify that the intended area appears in the new capture.
Review exclusions and blocked resources
Exclusion Filters remove matching areas from the DOM before capture. If a filter removes rendering-critical markup—such as script tags—scripts may not run and the page may not fully render. Review recent filter changes and any network-block settings for the affected session or page. Give slow pages more time
Fluxguard says its automatic timing methods can be imperfect on slow or complex sites. Add a wait, then manually initiate a crawl to test whether the page has time to finish rendering. How to Wait Longer Before Capturing a Screenshot
- Every page in the session: Open Session Settings → Crawl → Advanced and adjust “Wait Before Capturing.” Fluxguard documents up to nine additional seconds, before or after other actions.
- One page only: Add a page-level Wait action in Page View.
Check whether Fluxguard can reach the page
If the screenshot or its resources still fail to load, check whether the site restricts access through a firewall, bot control, authentication or another access rule. Fluxguard provides a crawler-whitelisting tutorial for edge protection systems; this is a diagnostic avenue, not proof that an access restriction caused a particular blank capture. Use a fresh crawl to isolate the cause
After changing a filter, wait or access rule, start a new crawl and compare its artifacts with the previous version. Use the screenshot, rendered DOM or HTML, extracted text and network activity together. This separates an actually empty capture from a viewer-rendering difference, a missing asset or a page that had not finished loading. Fluxguard says it uses headless Google Chrome and captures HTML after JavaScript execution; the comparison viewer is a separate display with different rendering behavior. Does a blank Fluxguard comparison view mean the archived screenshot is blank?
No. Check the archived screenshot and other captured artifacts for that page version; the comparison viewer can render interactive content differently.
