You can loop a prerecorded Hindi video into a YouTube Live event with FFmpeg. The simplest setup sends FFmpeg directly to YouTube; add SRS only if you need a self-hosted RTMP relay. In either case, the Hindi language does not change how looping works: the important parts are a video you have permission to stream, the right loop and pacing options for your FFmpeg build, and the current server URL and stream key from YouTube Live Control Room.

Choose a direct connection or an SRS relay

Route What connects When it fits What you operate
Direct FFmpeg publishes to YouTube’s ingest endpoint. You want the fewest components between the video file and YouTube. FFmpeg, the computer running it, and its network connection.
Through SRS FFmpeg publishes to an SRS RTMP endpoint; SRS acts as a relay toward the destination. You specifically need a self-hosted RTMP ingest layer or want to manage that intermediary yourself. FFmpeg plus an SRS process, host, and network configuration.

SRS is optional, not a requirement for looping a file or sending it to YouTube. The SRS stable 6.0 getting-started documentation includes a Docker deployment and a sample FFmpeg publisher; its sample publishes to SRS, not to YouTube. Keep those endpoints distinct when configuring a relay.

Prepare the video and YouTube event

Check the video and audio rights

Before streaming, confirm you have permission to use the video, soundtrack, images, and any other material in the recording. A video being in Hindi—or being publicly available—does not establish that you may rebroadcast it. This is a practical prerequisite, not legal advice. Repetitive or prerecorded content may also be subject to YouTube’s monetization and channel policies; do not assume that looping a video makes it eligible for monetization.

Create or select the live stream

  1. Open YouTube Live Control Room and create a live stream or select the event you intend to use.
  2. Copy the server URL and stream key currently displayed for that stream. Use those values rather than an endpoint copied from an unrelated example or an old event.
  3. Keep the stream key private. Do not put it in a public screenshot, repository, chat, or article. Treat it like a password: anyone with access to it may be able to publish to your stream.
  4. If YouTube gives you an RTMPS server URL and your encoder supports it, prefer that secure endpoint. Google describes RTMPS as RTMP over TLS/SSL and specifies port 443 for the connection.

Loop and send the file directly with FFmpeg

Check the options in your installed FFmpeg

FFmpeg command-line options are order-sensitive and generally apply to the next input or output. Put file-input options before the matching -i. For a prerecorded file, -re reads at the input’s native frame rate; it is pacing, not a loop switch. The FFmpeg documentation describes it as useful when output packet flow matters, such as live streaming.

Loop option syntax can vary with FFmpeg builds and the mechanism used. Check your local build before publishing: run ffmpeg -h and consult the documentation installed for that binary. The project’s online documentation is regenerated nightly and may describe a newer build. The file-input option -stream_loop -1 appears in the SRS getting-started example; FFmpeg’s filter documentation also documents an infinite frame loop as loop=-1. A filter-level frame loop and looping the media-file input are not interchangeable in every situation.

Build a direct-publish command

After confirming the loop option your local build supports, adapt this template. Replace the file name and the final destination with the complete publish URL formed from the current YouTube server URL and stream key. Do not paste your actual key into a shared script or example.

ffmpeg -re -stream_loop -1 -i "hindi-video.mp4" -c:v copy -c:a copy -f flv "<YouTube publish URL for this stream>"

This example uses -stream_loop -1 as an input option, before -i, and copies the existing audio and video streams without re-encoding. It is a starting point, not a guarantee that every file is compatible with YouTube ingest. If the codecs, container, timestamps, or stream characteristics are unsuitable, stream-copying may fail or produce a feed YouTube cannot accept. Check FFmpeg’s output and YouTube’s preview; if the file needs transcoding, choose encoding settings supported by your installed FFmpeg and the current YouTube guidance for your account and stream. The available source material does not establish one universally correct resolution, frame rate, bitrate, or encoder preset.

Start the scheduled event

  1. Run the command and watch FFmpeg’s console for connection errors or repeated input/output failures.
  2. In Live Control Room, wait for YouTube to receive the encoder feed and show a preview. Check that the picture and sound are present and correct.
  3. For a scheduled stream, click Go live in Live Control Room after the preview is ready. Starting FFmpeg sends the feed; it does not by itself start the scheduled event for viewers.

Use SRS as an optional relay

Run SRS and publish to its endpoint

Choose this route only if you need SRS between FFmpeg and YouTube. Follow the SRS stable 6.0 Docker getting-started instructions to run the server and identify its RTMP application and stream address. Then configure FFmpeg to publish to that SRS address. The SRS example uses -stream_loop -1 -re for a file publisher, but its sample destination is the SRS server, not YouTube’s ingest endpoint.

  • 【Package Content & Note】 1x HD Audio Capture Card , 1x USB 3.0 to USB C Adapter (A-side 3.0, B-side 2.0), 1x user manual. Please note that you need to restart the OBS Studio software after the audio setup is complete, otherwise it will result in no sound output. When using an adapter, if the device is recognized as USB 2.0, try using the other side with the USB-C port. Simply flip the capture card and reconnect it to be recognized as USB 3.0

Configure the onward destination separately

Once SRS is receiving the feed, configure the relay’s onward path to the current YouTube endpoint and key using the SRS documentation applicable to your deployment. Do not substitute the SRS RTMP address for YouTube’s server URL. This topology adds another process and host to operate; the cited documentation does not provide a quantified hardware or cost comparison with direct ingest.

Plan duration and archiving

YouTube Help says streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived. That does not establish that a looping event can run indefinitely or remove event-duration and archive-management considerations. Decide the planned event duration, monitor it, and handle any later event or archive steps in Live Control Room. Do not infer a guaranteed uninterrupted stream from the loop option.

Troubleshoot common failures

Symptom Likely area to check What to do
FFmpeg rejects an option or reports an unrecognized option The local FFmpeg build may not support the syntax used. Check ffmpeg -h and the documentation for the installed binary; verify the loop option and its placement before the input it applies to.
The video plays once and stops -re paces playback but does not repeat it, or the loop option is absent or misplaced. Verify the file-input loop option for your build and put it before -i. Do not mistake the filter-level loop=-1 for a universal replacement.
YouTube does not show an encoder preview Wrong or stale server URL/key, a connection failure, or an invalid publish destination. Copy the current values from the intended Live Control Room event, verify the complete output URL and network connection, and keep the key private.
FFmpeg connects but YouTube rejects or cannot decode the feed The file’s codecs or stream characteristics may not be accepted, or stream-copying may not suit that file. Check FFmpeg’s console and YouTube’s preview; use encoding settings supported by the installed FFmpeg build and current YouTube guidance rather than assuming one preset works for every channel.
FFmpeg publishes to SRS but YouTube receives nothing The SRS endpoint may be working while its onward route is missing or misconfigured. Check the SRS application/stream address separately from the YouTube server URL and key, then inspect the relay’s destination configuration and logs.
The scheduled event is not visible to viewers The encoder feed may be running while the event still awaits the operator’s start action. Wait for the preview and verify audio and video, then click Go live for the scheduled stream.
