To track Indian railway or IRCTC website updates with ChangeTower, first choose the official page that publishes the kind of update you need, then create a monitor for that page and tune its change criteria, schedule, and alerts. Railway Board material, IRCTC corporate announcements, and passenger-service information are separate categories; monitoring one page will not capture every update across them.
Choose the right official page first
Start by deciding what you want to catch. The Railway Board portal is a Ministry of Railways portal with directorate and passenger-information sections, as well as circular-related material. Select the relevant directorate or page for the topic rather than assuming the portal’s front page covers every notice.
For IRCTC corporate announcements, the company’s 2022–23 annual report describes announcements distributed through press releases, its website, and other media, and identifies the Investors’ section as a place for corporate announcements and disclosures. That describes corporate disclosures; it does not establish a single feed for every passenger-facing IRCTC update. Check IRCTC’s current official site and identify the exact page you want to follow before setting up a monitor.
- Railway Board circulars or Ministry material: monitor the relevant Railway Board directorate or circular page.
- IRCTC corporate disclosures: consider the company’s official site and its Investors’ section.
- Passenger services: select the specific service page relevant to your need. The available official evidence does not establish one authoritative page aggregating all passenger-facing IRCTC site changes.
A website-change monitor is not a train-running-status or ticket-availability feed. For travel decisions, use the relevant official service directly and verify any alert on its source page.

Set up a ChangeTower monitor
- Open ChangeTower and add the page URL. Use the exact official page you identified, not just a broad homepage unless changes anywhere on that homepage matter to you.
- Choose what counts as a change. Select whole-page content monitoring for any textual change, a keyword criterion for a named term, or Smart Monitor’s natural-language AI criteria for a clearly described type of notice. If unrelated areas of the page change frequently, use selective-area monitoring to focus on the relevant region.
- Set a checking schedule. Choose a cadence suitable for how often you need to review changes. A scheduled check is not a guarantee of instant detection or delivery.
- Choose notification routing. Configure a reviewable route such as email, Slack, Teams, or a webhook, as supported by ChangeTower’s feature documentation.
- Save the monitor and validate its alerts. When ChangeTower reports a change, open the official page and confirm the notice itself before acting on it.
ChangeTower documents content, keyword, AI-criteria, selective-area, scheduled, and domain monitoring, along with a browser extension and multiple alert routes. Feature availability and labels can change, so consult the current ChangeTower feature information and setup interface.
Pick a criterion that limits noise
| Monitoring approach | Use it when | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Content monitoring | Any content change on the selected page could matter. | Unrelated edits elsewhere on the page may also trigger alerts. |
| Keyword monitoring | You are watching for a specific name, phrase, or reference. | It may miss a relevant notice that uses different wording. |
| AI criteria | You can describe the type of notice you want in plain language. | Review alerts against the page; do not treat a monitor’s interpretation as an official decision. |
| Selective-area monitoring | A page has changing navigation, counters, or other irrelevant areas around the material you need. | The monitored area must include the part where the relevant update appears. |
| Domain monitoring | You need to discover changes across a broader site rather than one known page. | Broader scope can create more results to review; it does not mean every page or update is guaranteed to be covered. |
For a circular page, a keyword criterion can be useful if notices reliably contain a specific department or subject term. For a less predictable notice category, describe the desired notice in AI criteria and keep the monitored area focused. These are configuration choices documented by ChangeTower; no particular setup has been hands-on tested here.
Organize monitoring across Railway Board and IRCTC
If you care about several categories, create separate monitors for the distinct official pages that publish them. Name each monitor for its source and purpose—for example, a Railway Board directorate circular page versus an IRCTC corporate announcement page—so an alert’s origin is clear. Use separate criteria where the wording or page layout differs.
Indian Railways’ Annual Report and Accounts 2023–24 says Indian Railways issued 33,304 press releases during that reporting year. That is a figure for the organization’s press releases in 2023–24, not a current annual rate and not a count of passenger notices. It illustrates why a broad news or press-release page may require filtering rather than an alert for every change.
Verify alerts before relying on them
ChangeTower is a change-notification aid, not an official Indian Railways or IRCTC channel. Open the source page for the complete notice, check its date and context, and use the relevant official service for time-sensitive travel information. An alert that a page changed does not itself establish what changed or whether a policy or service is in effect.
The Railway Board portal page surfaced in the cited official material has an old review date, and the IRCTC announcement description comes from its 2022–23 annual report. Confirm that the selected pages remain current before relying on them as monitoring targets.

Troubleshooting a noisy or quiet monitor
- Too many alerts: change from whole-page content tracking to a keyword or AI criterion, or monitor only the relevant page area.
- A relevant change was not flagged: check that the correct official URL is monitored, broaden the criteria if wording varies, and confirm the relevant text is within the selected area.
- Alerts concern the wrong kind of update: distinguish Railway Board material, IRCTC corporate disclosures, and passenger-service pages; they are not interchangeable sources.
- You expect real-time running information: website-change monitoring is not a verified live train-status feed. Check the official service for that information.
- Updates seem missing from a broad monitor: do not assume a domain scan is exhaustive. Add a monitor for the specific official page that matters and review the page directly.

If your next step is capturing a page for review or an automated workflow, ScreenshotNeo offers a website screenshot API and MCP server. It does not replace ChangeTower’s change alerts; it can capture a page when you request a screenshot.
One GET request returns an image or PDF. For example, using cURL:

See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for options and formats. ScreenshotNeo accepts cookie or consent banners and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each step can be disabled. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed. Its MCP server gives AI agents tools to take screenshots, get page information, and capture PDFs. The Free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does monitoring an IRCTC page track ticket availability or train status?
No. A page-change alert is not a live train-status or ticket-availability feed; check the relevant official service for those details.
Can one monitor cover every Indian Railways and IRCTC update?
No single authoritative feed for every passenger-facing IRCTC and Railway Board update is established here. Choose and monitor the official pages relevant to each update category.
