Start by checking Visualping’s Block ads, cookie banners setting: its Help Center says this is enabled by default for new jobs. If a specific banner or ad still appears, add a manual Block action. If the overlay must be dismissed to see the page, use a click action; if the ad is outside the area you care about, narrow the Focus Area instead.
These options solve different problems: blocking hides an element, clicking dismisses it, Focus Area limits what Visualping monitors, and alert criteria can reduce noisy notifications without necessarily removing anything from the screenshot.
1. Check automatic ad and cookie-banner blocking
- Open the Visualping job and its settings.
- In Adjustments, find Block ads, cookie banners.
- Enable it if it is off, then review the job preview.
Visualping’s Help Center says this feature is enabled by default for new jobs; that does not establish that it is on for every existing job or that it catches every banner. The Help Center page, “Automatically block ads and cookie popups,” was edited May 14, 2025. If a particular element remains, add a manual Block action.
2. Block a specific banner or ad
- Open Actions for the job and add a Block action.
- Select the element in the preview. If selecting it is unreliable, provide an element ID, class, or XPath instead.
- Save the action and inspect the resulting preview to confirm the intended element is hidden and the content you need remains.
Visualping documents that a matching ID or class can block multiple elements. Inspect the page and choose a stable, specific selector: a broad class or container selector can hide useful page content along with the banner. A selector can also stop matching if the site changes its markup.

When the ad is irrelevant because it sits outside the content you want to track, change the monitored region rather than trying to remove the ad. Adjust the Focus Area; in Element mode, select a box around the content that matters. Changes outside that selected region are excluded from the monitored area.
This can suit rotating ads, social feeds, carousels, or popups outside the target content. The trade-off is direct: Visualping will not monitor changes outside the selected region, so keep the selection wide enough to include all material you care about.
4. Click to dismiss an overlay that covers the page
If the content is behind a consent modal or other overlay, blocking the overlay may not be enough. Add a Click action for the site’s consent or close button before the screenshot. You can also use Record Action to record the interaction; Visualping replays the recorded sequence on each check, and the Chrome extension is required for recording.

- Record or configure the click on the consent or close control.
- If the page updates asynchronously, add a Wait action after the click.
- Review the preview after saving. If the click misses, edit the action or target a more direct selector.
Actions run in sequence on each check, so the dismissal must happen before any later step that depends on the revealed content.
5. Reduce notifications when the screenshot is acceptable
If the image looks right but ads or consent changes still generate unwanted notifications, use Visualping’s important-change criteria or an instruction such as: “Ignore cookie banners, consent modals, rotating ads, and promotional overlays.”
This is alert filtering, not proof that the visual element is removed from the screenshot. Use a Block action, click, or narrower Focus Area when the image itself needs to be clean.

Choose the method that matches the problem

Troubleshoot actions that miss or fail
- The selector tool picks the wrong element: inspect the page and try a unique ID, class, XPath, or CSS selector. Avoid broad selectors that could hide the content being monitored.
- The target is inside an iframe: add the iFrame action before operating on the inner element; an outer-page selector may not reach it directly.
- The click happens but the page is not ready: add a Wait action after the interaction, then check the preview. The action order matters.
- The block removes useful content: narrow the selector or block only the banner element instead of its larger parent container.
- The banner returns after a site update: revisit the preview and selector. A changed page structure can invalidate an otherwise working action.
API and automation limits
Visualping’s API documentation describes monitor operations and an XPath or selector target, but the cited materials do not establish that every dashboard-level filter or Block action can be configured through the API. Check the documentation for the specific endpoint and action before building an API workflow around it.

Does Visualping’s automatic blocking remove every cookie banner?
No. Visualping documents automatic blocking as enabled by default for new jobs, but a particular banner can remain; add a manual Block action or use a click if it must be dismissed.
Will Focus Area stop an ad from appearing in the screenshot?
It limits the region Visualping monitors. It is useful when the ad is outside the content you need, but it should not be treated as a command to remove the ad from the page image.

Can I configure every Visualping dashboard action through its API?
The cited API materials do not establish support for every dashboard-level filter or Block action. Confirm support for the particular endpoint and action in the API documentation.
