Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThere is no documented SingleFileZ setting guaranteed to fix a browser out-of-memory error. Start by turning off two options that the official FAQ says can slow saving and use CPU, then try saving selected content or a frame instead of the whole page. These are troubleshooting experiments, not confirmed memory fixes.
Try the documented options that can reduce processing work
Open SingleFileZ’s options and turn off HTML content > remove hidden elements and Stylesheets > remove unused styles. The FAQ explains that SingleFileZ’s defaults are optimized for smaller saved pages, which can slow the save process. It describes these settings as affecting speed and CPU work; it does not say they reduce memory use or prevent a crash. SingleFileZ FAQ
Change one setting at a time and try again so you can tell whether it affects the failure. If a save still runs out of memory, move on to reducing the capture scope rather than assuming another setting will cure it.
Save a smaller part of the page
Instead of capturing the entire page, use the extension’s context menu to save selected content or a selected frame. Mozilla’s add-on listing documents these capture choices, but does not promise that they fix out-of-memory errors. They are useful experiments because they limit what you ask the extension to save.
#1 Best Overall
- Get NVMe solid state performance with up to 1050MB/s read and 1000MB/s write speeds in a portable, high-capacity drive(1) (Based on internal testing; performance may be lower depending on host device & other factors. 1MB=1,000,000 bytes.)
- Up to 3-meter drop protection and IP65 water and dust resistance mean this tough drive can take a beating(3) (Previously rated for 2-meter drop protection and IP55 rating. Now qualified for the higher, stated specs.)
- Use the handy carabiner loop to secure it to your belt loop or backpack for extra peace of mind.
- Help keep private content private with the included password protection featuring 256‐bit AES hardware encryption.(3)
- Easily manage files and automatically free up space with the SanDisk Memory Zone app.(5). Non-Operating Temperature -20°C to 85°C
| Approach | Trade-off |
|---|---|
| Save the whole page | Preserves broader page content, but asks the extension to process more of the page. |
| Save selected content or a frame | Captures less, so it may be a practical workaround; content outside the selection is not included, and success is not guaranteed. |
Before starting, wait until the webpage is fully loaded. If processing appears stuck, clicking the SingleFileZ toolbar button again cancels it, according to the Mozilla add-on listing. Waiting and canceling are workflow controls, not memory-management features.
Trade completeness for speed only if it is acceptable
The FAQ says these options can make processing faster, but warns that page resources may be missing:
Rank #2
- Capacity Display Variance: 500GB external ssd often appears as around 465GB on Windows. MacOS can show full 500 GB capacity. This is binary calculation difference and doesn’t affect SSD hard drive actual physical storage
- 1050 MB/s Speed: Instantly access to your files with blazing-fast 10Gbps external SSD read up to 1050MB/s and write up to 1000MB/s. LED Light indicates USB SSD instant activity
- Data Security: Solid state drives S.M.A.R.T. health diagnostics and adaptive TRIM optimizing data block management ensures consistent write speeds and extends the longevity of the portable SSD
- USB-C & USB-A Cable: Both cables featuring rapid USB 3.2 Gen2, this USB SSD effortlessly bridges devices, enabling seamless cross-platform file transfers and backup between computers, smartphones, tablets and iPhone
- Always Fast: No slowdowns for large file transfers. With SLC caching (25% of current available capacity allocated as high-speed cache), this external SSD delivers steady 10Gbps for transfers within the cache capacity
- HTML content > remove frames: Disabling frame removal can speed the operation, but frames may be missing from the result.
- Images > save deferred images: Disabling deferred-image saving can speed the operation, but some images may not be included.
These are completeness-versus-speed choices, not documented memory controls. Keep them enabled when the saved page needs its frames or deferred images, and compare the resulting file against the original page.
Know what an out-of-memory error does—and does not—tell you
The reviewed SingleFileZ documentation does not specify a memory limit, page-size threshold, device-specific cause, or guaranteed workaround. The extension works in the browser and may fetch resources present in the page even if they are not displayed or cached. That is relevant context for resource-heavy pages, but the documentation does not quantify it as a cause of a crash.

- Solid state performance with up to 800MB/s read speeds in a portable drive. (Based on internal testing; performance may be lower depending on host device, interface, usage conditions and other factors. 1MB=1,000,000 bytes.)
- Back up your content and memories on a storage solution that fits seamlessly into your mobile lifestyle.
- Take it with you on your adventures—up to two-meter drop protection means this durable drive can take a beating. (Based on internal testing.)
- Secure it to your belt loop or backpack for extra peace of mind thanks to the tough rubber hook.
- From Sandisk, a brand professional photographers trust to take on assignments.
If the issue persists, record your browser and extension versions, operating system, the page URL, and whether the failure happens before processing starts or during the save. Those details help distinguish a page-specific failure from a broader problem, without assuming that clearing cache, adding RAM, changing a browser flag, or switching browsers will fix it.
Use the current project path for self-extracting saves
The SingleFileZ repository says the project has been completely merged into SingleFile. For current self-extracting saves, the repository points users to SingleFile’s file-format setting or to importing existing settings. Consult the SingleFileZ repository for the project’s current guidance.

Check that the saved file opens in your target browser
A successful save is not the last check. The FAQ says JavaScript must be enabled to view these saved pages. It also notes that Chrome requires the extension to be installed or a command-line switch to open files from the filesystem, and describes a local-file restriction caveat for Firefox and Safari. See the FAQ’s file-opening guidance if the saved file does not render as expected.
