Choose SingleFileZ if you want a self-extracting HTML/ZIP archive and its documented Firefox desktop and mobile support; choose Save Page WE if its single-HTML-file output better fits your workflow. Neither extension turns every website into a fully working offline copy, and the available product documentation does not establish a general winner for speed, fidelity, or file size.
How the saved files differ
SingleFileZ saves a page and its resources in an HTML file that is also a valid ZIP archive—a self-extracting HTML/ZIP hybrid. Its Firefox listing describes saving page content such as CSS, images, fonts, and frames. The hybrid format is the key practical distinction if you manage saved pages like archives. See the SingleFileZ Firefox listing and its FAQ.
Save Page WE describes its output as one HTML file representing the page as currently displayed. That may fit a routine built around opening saved HTML files, but the listing does not describe the same HTML/ZIP hybrid format. Check the current Save Page WE Firefox listing for its available options and compatibility details.
These descriptions identify different file-handling approaches; they do not establish that one format is universally more portable or compatible. Consider where you will store and open the files, and test your target browser if that matters.

Device support and workflows
Firefox on desktop and mobile
SingleFileZ’s official Firefox listing explicitly names desktop and mobile support. The reviewed Save Page WE listing does not establish matching Firefox mobile support. Before installing Save Page WE, check its current listing for your device and Firefox version; extension availability can change.
Saving more than the current page
SingleFileZ’s listing describes toolbar and context-menu workflows for saving the current tab, selected content, a frame, or a link, as well as saving multiple tabs. The related SingleFile project documents additional options such as selecting content, saving frames or tabs, adding annotations, and choosing destinations. SingleFile is a related project, not the same add-on as SingleFileZ; its README lists browser compatibility and features.

What offline copies can and cannot preserve
Both tools are intended to preserve page content for later viewing, but a saved snapshot should not be treated as a working copy of a dynamic web application. A page that depends on a live account, server requests, or other online services may not behave as it did while connected. The product descriptions do not promise preservation of server-backed interactions.

SingleFileZ documents browser-specific restrictions on opening its hybrid files directly from local storage. Its FAQ says Chrome requires SingleFileZ to view a saved file from the filesystem; it also describes Firefox and Safari behavior, including a Safari setting. The same FAQ says those restrictions do not apply when the saved page is hosted on a server. Check the current FAQ for instructions that match your browser version rather than assuming one set of steps applies everywhere.
Save Page WE’s listing notes that Firefox WebExtensions are not allowed to read local files. It also mentions compatibility with Print Edit WE 26.1 or later when the two extensions are used together; verify current versions if that combination matters to you.

Saving settings, speed, and completeness
SingleFileZ’s FAQ describes a default configuration that favors smaller pages and may slow saving. The FAQ says turning off removal of hidden elements or unused styles can speed processing; disabling frame removal or deferred-image saving, however, may leave resources out. These are vendor-documented tradeoffs, not independently measured performance results. If a complete capture matters more than processing time or file size, review those settings before changing them.
No controlled head-to-head evidence establishes which extension is faster, produces smaller files, or captures pages more faithfully or reliably. If those differences matter for your work, save representative pages with each extension and compare the results yourself. Include pages with deferred images, frames, and dynamic content, and check both the saved appearance and how the files open in your intended browser.

Which one should you choose?
- Choose SingleFileZ if its HTML/ZIP hybrid suits how you store files, you need its documented save-from-context-menu or multi-tab workflows, or you want an extension whose listing explicitly includes Firefox mobile.
- Choose Save Page WE if its one-HTML-file description and current options fit your existing browser workflow. Confirm device support in its current listing rather than assuming mobile availability.
- Try both on your own pages if the deciding factor is capture completeness, speed, file size, or fidelity; the cited product documentation does not provide a controlled comparison for those measures.
Firefox’s built-in option
You can also use Firefox’s built-in page-saving feature for basic offline access. Mozilla Support explains how to save a page to your computer so it can be accessed when you are offline: How to save a web page. The support page does not establish a fidelity comparison with either extension.
Or skip the browser setup
If you need a visual screenshot rather than an offline HTML page, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server—not a replacement for an offline page archive. A GET request can return a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. For example, this cURL request saves a WebP screenshot of a page:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
Quick Recap
See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for setup and options. Before capture, it accepts cookie or consent banners as a visitor and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; each step can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and responses identify the page verdict and billing status in headers. An MCP server lets AI agents use tools for screenshots, page information, and PDF capture. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card, and paid plans start at $5 for 3,000.
