Check Amazon’s built-in price history
- Open the Amazon product detail page for the item you are considering.
- Look beside the displayed price for the price history link and select it. Amazon describes the control as appearing “right next to the price” on a product detail page.
- Choose an available history window and compare the current price with the recent trend. Amazon’s May 2026 article describes 30-, 90-, and 365-day views.
If the link is not visible, try the assistant route: open the Alexa for Shopping icon in the Amazon shopping app or on desktop, then ask a question such as “Has this item been on sale in the past 30 days?”, “What’s the price history?”, or “Is this the lowest price recently?”
Amazon’s May 2026 article says price history is available to customers in the US, UK, Canada, and India. It described the 365-day view as rolling out in the US, UK, and India; availability and wording can differ by account, marketplace, or listing. Check the current product page and local app rather than assuming every account has the same controls.
Set an alert for a target price
Where Amazon’s assistant offers price tracking, ask it to watch the product at a price you choose. Amazon’s assistant announcement describes target-price alerts and, for Prime Members, an auto-buy option at the target. That announcement uses the earlier Rufus name and describes 30- and 90-day tracking, so the current interface and eligibility may differ. Confirm the available options in your Amazon app or site for your marketplace before relying on an alert.

If the Amazon alert option is unavailable or you want a separate tracker, Keepa and camelcamelcamel offer price-history and price-watch features. Create a target for the product and select the notification method offered by that service; camelcamelcamel documents email alerts. Track the right price type: an Amazon offer is not necessarily the same as a third-party new or used offer.

Read charts carefully before buying
- Compare like with like. Check whether a chart shows Amazon’s own price, a third-party new offer, or a used offer. A low point for one type does not establish the current price of another.
- Confirm the actual offer. Open the Amazon listing and check the current price, seller, shipping charges, availability, and delivery details. A chart records tracked prices; it does not guarantee that the same offer is still available.
- Use a sensible target. Choose a price you would genuinely pay rather than assuming a past low will recur. Alerts notify you about a tracked condition; they do not reserve stock or guarantee a purchase.
- Check local support. Marketplace coverage and the price types available can differ between services and listings.
Use a browser add-on if you want charts on product pages
Keepa’s Chrome Web Store listing describes a browser extension that can show charts on supported Amazon product pages and provide price-drop or availability alerts. camelcamelcamel offers The Camelizer browser add-on. An add-on can reduce switching between the listing and a tracker, but it is optional: both services also document online tracking features. Review each extension’s current marketplace support and permissions before installing it.
Troubleshooting missing history or alerts
- No price-history link on Amazon: The feature may not be available for that account, marketplace, or listing, or the control may have moved. Try Alexa for Shopping’s natural-language questions, then check the local app or site for current availability.
- A tracker has no chart or offer type: Coverage can vary by marketplace, product, and price category. Check another supported tracker or compare against the live Amazon listing; do not treat missing data as proof that a price never changed.
- An alert did not arrive: Confirm that the watch is active, the target and price category are correct, and the selected notification method is available. Check the tracker account and email settings if using email. Alert features and delivery options vary by provider.
- The alerted price is no longer available: Reopen the Amazon listing and inspect the seller, shipping, and stock status. A recorded or newly detected price does not guarantee that the offer remains available when you visit.
