There is no official CameraFi Live preset for a continuous YouTube music stream. The best settings are the ones your phone, audio setup, and upload connection can sustain reliably: start conservatively, test the complete setup, and monitor stream health before relying on it. For long broadcasts, also plan for music rights and YouTube’s archive limit: streams longer than 12 hours may not be saved as an archive.

Choose settings for stability, not maximum quality

CameraFi’s setup guide explains how to start a YouTube stream and select a resolution, but it does not specify a universal setting for continuous music. YouTube likewise advises choosing a quality your internet connection can reliably sustain, testing before going live, and monitoring stream health. A higher resolution is not automatically better for a static music stream if it makes the phone or connection less reliable.

Test using the actual phone, network, music source, and visual content you intend to use. YouTube’s encoder guidance names H.264, H.265 (HEVC), and AV1 as supported video codecs, recommends constant bitrate (CBR), and recommends a 2-second keyframe interval—not more than 4 seconds. These are YouTube’s recommendations; CameraFi may not expose every encoder control. YouTube’s encoder settings also give bitrate recommendations by codec, resolution, and frame rate, so there is no single bitrate that fits every phone and network.

  • Use the lowest resolution and frame rate that meet your visual needs and remain stable in a test.
  • Run a speed test, then test the live stream with similar audio and movement to the planned broadcast.
  • For audio, YouTube lists 128 Kbps and 44.1 kHz for stereo, and 384 Kbps and 48 kHz for 5.1 surround. These are YouTube-published settings, not confirmation that CameraFi provides controls for each value.

Set up CameraFi Live and YouTube

  1. Enable live streaming on the intended YouTube channel. Sign in to that channel and confirm it can go live before the event. CameraFi’s July 11, 2025 setup guide says activation after enabling the feature may take up to 24 hours.
  2. Choose YouTube and the mode that matches your source. Camera mode is for phone or external camera footage; CameraFi also documents screen mode. If the music is the main content, configure the audio source and any visual separately rather than assuming the camera microphone will capture the music. CameraFi recommends RTMPS in its YouTube guidance.
  3. Choose and test an audio route. CameraFi documents built-in, wired, and Bluetooth microphone choices, along with adding audio files or combining music with microphone audio. Select the route that actually carries your music, listen to a test, and monitor for silence, clipping, or synchronization problems. Internal audio capture can vary by phone and operating system; do not assume it works in every configuration.
  4. Configure the YouTube broadcast. Follow CameraFi’s flow to enter the title, choose privacy and resolution, create the stream, and start it. YouTube also supports reusable stream settings and stream keys. Treat a stream key like a password; reset it if it is exposed.
  5. Run a private or unlisted test before the intended broadcast. Check that audio is present and balanced, the image is as expected, and YouTube reports a healthy connection. Keep the test long enough to reveal problems that do not appear immediately.

For Android-specific audio controls and setup details, see CameraFi’s Android guide. CameraFi’s available audio behavior and controls should not be assumed to be identical on iOS.

Secure music rights before going live

You need the necessary rights for the music and other content in the broadcast, including applicable licensing rights from artists, labels, publishers, and other rights holders. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content; if it identifies content that remains in the stream, it may interrupt or terminate the broadcast. If you have licensed third-party music, YouTube says to ask the rights owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist, since a licensed track may still trigger an interruption otherwise. See YouTube’s live-stream terms and copyright guidance.

CameraFi’s Google Play listing mentions free copyright music files as background music. That does not grant permission to use arbitrary tracks: check the actual license for every recording and confirm it covers the stream and any archive. CameraFi Live on Google Play.

Plan stream length and archive separately

If you need YouTube’s automatic archive, keep the broadcast under 12 hours when possible. YouTube says streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all; DVR rewind may also be limited or unavailable on streams over 12 hours. If preserving the broadcast matters, keep a local recording backup. CameraFi’s setup guide offers a Save Live option for saving output to the phone gallery, but test that it works on your device and confirm there is enough storage before relying on it.

Troubleshoot common test failures

  • You cannot start a YouTube broadcast: confirm live streaming is enabled for the correct channel and allow for activation time, which CameraFi says can take up to 24 hours.
  • The stream buffers or loses connection: repeat the test on the intended network, check YouTube’s stream health, and reduce resolution or frame rate until the connection is stable. Recheck at the time and location you plan to broadcast from.
  • The stream is silent or the wrong sound is captured: verify CameraFi’s selected audio source, connections, and levels. Test the exact music playback route; phone and OS behavior can affect capture.
  • Audio clips or is out of sync: listen to the test rather than relying only on meters. Adjust levels or the audio route, then repeat the test with the planned content.
  • YouTube interrupts the stream: check for third-party content claims and confirm the rights for each track. If a track is licensed, ask its owner about adding your channel to the Content ID allowlist.
  • The archive is missing or incomplete: broadcasts longer than 12 hours may not be archived. For future streams, shorten the broadcast and make a tested local recording if you need a copy.
  • You suspect a stream key was exposed: reset it in YouTube’s stream settings and update the key in CameraFi before going live again.
