If IRL Pro stays on “starting,” first check whether YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room receives an incoming signal. No signal points toward IRL Pro’s destination settings, stream key, encoder, or internet connection; a signal means YouTube has received the encoder feed, so check the Live Control Room’s status and your broadcast or account settings. The “starting” label alone does not identify the cause.
1. Check whether YouTube is receiving the stream
- Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room for the broadcast you intend to start.
- Try starting the stream in IRL Pro, then check whether the Live Control Room shows an incoming encoder signal.
- If there is no signal, follow the checks below for the destination, key, app, and network.
- If YouTube does show a signal, the encoder has reached YouTube. Use the status or error shown in the Live Control Room to investigate the broadcast or account setup.
This is a practical way to locate the failure along the app-to-YouTube path; it is not a documented interpretation of IRL Pro’s “starting” label. IRL Pro’s available status details may vary by app build.
2. Refresh the YouTube stream key
YouTube’s guidance for an error starting a third-party encoder is to get a new stream key in the Live Control Room and update the encoder. If IRL Pro is configured with a YouTube URL and key, replace the old key with the fresh one.
- In the Live Control Room, open the stream settings for the intended broadcast and copy a new stream key.
- In IRL Pro, check that the selected destination is the intended YouTube stream, then replace its configured key with the fresh one.
- Save the settings and try starting again while watching for an incoming signal in the Live Control Room.
Keep the key private. Do not include it in a public screenshot, support post, or issue report.

3. Check IRL Pro’s destination and encoder output
- Confirm the destination: Make sure IRL Pro is set up for the intended YouTube broadcast and that its URL, key, or account connection matches the setup method you chose.
- Update the app: Install the latest IRL Pro release available through its distribution channel. The available documentation does not establish a current version number or a current IRL Pro-specific bug behind this symptom.
- Inspect the app while starting: Check its preview, connection status, and any encoder or connection error it displays. YouTube also advises checking the encoder’s picture and sound, error messages, and CPU load.
- Use the result to choose the next check: If the local output appears healthy but YouTube receives no usable signal, investigate the outbound connection. If the output is unhealthy, address the error reported by IRL Pro; YouTube’s general advice is to try another encoder if the output remains unhealthy.
IRL Pro’s “starting” status is not defined in the reviewed documentation, and no single fix is established for every case.
4. Test the outbound internet connection
If IRL Pro appears healthy but YouTube receives no signal or reports a connection problem, retry over a stable connection and test outbound connectivity. YouTube recommends contacting your internet provider if the test reveals a connection problem.

IRL Pro’s setup documentation describes broadcasting over a single connection. If you can do so safely, comparing the same setup on Wi-Fi and your mobile network can help distinguish a network-specific problem from an app or key issue. That comparison is a diagnostic suggestion, not a YouTube-mandated step. No minimum speed or bitrate is established as a fix for the “starting” status, so changing those values is not a guaranteed remedy.
5. Check whether YouTube live streaming is enabled
If this is the account’s first YouTube live stream, confirm that live streaming is enabled. YouTube says first-time enablement may take up to 24 hours. This applies to first-time setup; it does not explain every startup problem on an established account.

Common troubleshooting mistakes
- Repeatedly tapping Start without checking YouTube: First establish whether an encoder signal reaches the Live Control Room; that separates an app-to-YouTube connection issue from a later broadcast status issue.
- Reusing a possibly stale key: YouTube’s recommendation for third-party encoder start errors is to copy a new key from the Live Control Room and update the encoder.
- Assuming “starting” names a specific failure: The reviewed IRL Pro documentation does not define that status, so use the app’s error details and YouTube’s signal status instead.
- Changing bitrate or buying equipment as a first step: The available guidance does not establish a startup-specific bitrate threshold or a physical product as a likely fix. Check the key, destination, encoder output, and connection first.
