On iPhone, Safari documents a direct route: take a screenshot, choose Full Page, then Save PDF to Files. On desktop, Firefox supports full-page screenshots; save the image and use your computer’s PDF destination. If you need conventional pages or text that behaves like a document, use the browser’s print-to-PDF feature instead and check its preview carefully.
Choose between a full-page screenshot and a printed PDF
These methods produce different results. A full-page screenshot captures the page as a tall image, preserving a screenshot-like appearance. A browser’s Print > Save as PDF creates a print rendering that may paginate, change layout, or omit elements.

Official workflow documentation does not guarantee that every captured or printed webpage will have selectable, searchable text or OCR. If text usability matters, try browser printing and inspect the result rather than assuming either method will preserve text in a particular way.
Save a full-page Safari screenshot as a PDF on iPhone
- Open the webpage in Safari and take a screenshot using your iPhone’s screenshot buttons.
- Tap the screenshot preview, then select Full Page.
- Scroll within the preview to check the captured page.
- Open the save options, choose Save PDF to Files, and select a location.
Apple documents this workflow for content extending beyond the iPhone screen, including an entire Safari webpage. Button placement can vary by device and iOS version, so look for the labels rather than expecting controls in a fixed position. Apple’s iPhone screenshot guide.

Make a screenshot-like PDF on desktop with Firefox
- Use Firefox’s full-page screenshot capture and save the resulting image.
- Open or print the saved image using your operating system’s PDF destination.
- In the print preview, choose a fit-to-page or fit-to-printable-area option if available. Set portrait or landscape to suit the image.
- Inspect all four edges in the preview, then save the PDF.
Mozilla’s developer documentation describes full-page capture and the --fullpage option. It does not establish that every current Firefox version uses identical menu labels. See Mozilla’s screenshot documentation. The precise steps for printing an image to PDF depend on your operating system and its available PDF destination.
Print a webpage to a conventional PDF on desktop
Chrome
Open Print with Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux, or Command+P on Mac. Select the destination, review the print settings and preview, then choose Save as PDF. Google’s Chrome printing instructions.

Firefox
Open Print, choose Save to PDF, then adjust paper size, scale, orientation, and margins in the expanded settings. Firefox notes that webpages can appear differently on paper than on screen. Mozilla Support: How to print web pages in Firefox.
Microsoft Edge
Open Print and inspect the preview before saving. Adjust scale and other print settings as needed. Edge’s Fit to printable area option adjusts content to fit the printable area of the paper; it does not turn a long page into one continuous screenshot page. Prevent missing edges and content
- Inspect every preview page and all four edges before saving. Do not assume a PDF is complete because the first page looks right.
- If content is missing horizontally, try landscape orientation, a smaller scale, or narrower margins.
- If content disappears at a page break, change the scale or paper size, then inspect the preview again.
- Remember that a site can apply its own print layout. No single setting guarantees identical output for every webpage.
- In Edge, “fit to printable area” fits content within each sheet’s printable area; it does not create a single, continuous tall page.
Mozilla puts the layout caveat plainly: “Web pages can set themselves up to appear different on paper to how they look on screen, so don’t be surprised to see some changes.”
What to know about Chrome on iPhone and iPad
Google’s cited Chrome help for iPhone and iPad describes printing through AirPrint, but does not document a direct Save as PDF destination in Chrome for iOS. Do not assume Chrome on iOS has the same PDF-save workflow as desktop Chrome or Android. Google’s Chrome printing instructions.
