You can broadcast a bhajan, satsang, aarti, or devotional talk from an Android phone by sending Larix Broadcaster’s camera and audio feed to a YouTube encoder event. Enable live streaming in YouTube Studio, copy the event’s stream URL and key into Larix, rehearse at a sustainable quality, then start Larix and take the event live in YouTube Live Control Room.
Before you begin: prepare the channel and event
- Enable live streaming. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and follow the prompts to enable streaming. YouTube says first-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so do this well before the devotional program.
- Create or schedule an encoder stream. In Live Control Room, create or schedule the event and choose the encoder workflow. Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for that event. YouTube lists Larix among mobile encoders in its encoder setup guide.
- Keep the key private. Treat the stream key like a password. Do not include it in screenshots, public tutorials, or messages. If it is exposed, reset it in YouTube’s live stream settings and update Larix with the replacement.
This is an encoder workflow, not the YouTube mobile app’s direct-live workflow. The mobile app’s eligibility rules—including subscriber and device requirements—apply to that route; they should not be substituted for the encoder setup requirements. For encoder streaming, the channel needs live streaming enabled, and first-time activation may take up to 24 hours (YouTube mobile live eligibility; YouTube encoder setup).
Connect Larix Broadcaster to YouTube
- Install and open Larix Broadcaster for Android. In its connection settings, add a connection and enter the destination details from your event in Live Control Room.
- Prefer YouTube’s RTMPS destination when available. In Live Control Room, reveal the RTMPS URL in the stream settings and use it with the stream key. RTMPS is RTMP protected with TLS/SSL; YouTube recommends it, and Larix for Android documents RTMPS support with SSL (YouTube RTMPS guidance; Larix Broadcaster for Android).
- Larix may accept a combined Connection URL containing the server URL and stream name/key, as described in Softvelum’s Larix documentation. Follow the fields and format shown in your app; use the live URL and key from your own YouTube event, never an example value.
- Save the connection and select it before broadcasting. If Larix cannot connect, check that the destination is the correct RTMPS URL and that the key belongs to the selected event. Never troubleshoot by posting the key publicly.
Choose video settings your phone and connection can sustain
Start with a conservative setup and test it under conditions similar to the actual broadcast. YouTube’s encoder guidance recommends H.264 for ordinary SDR video, constant bitrate (CBR), up to 60 frames per second, and a two-second keyframe interval that should not exceed four seconds. Larix for Android documents H.264 video and AAC audio. YouTube supports RTMP/RTMPS ingestion and specifies AAC or MP3 audio; for stereo AAC, its guidance recommends 44.1 kHz (YouTube encoder settings and bitrates; Larix for Android).
| Setting | Practical starting point or rule |
|---|---|
| Resolution and frame rate | Use a resolution and frame rate the phone can encode reliably. YouTube’s recommendation table gives 720p at 30 fps a video bitrate range of 2–6 Mbps; this is a platform recommendation, not a guarantee for your phone or network. |
| Video bitrate mode | Choose CBR where Larix exposes the option. Keep the target within stable upload capacity. |
| Keyframe interval | Two seconds recommended; do not exceed four seconds. |
| Video codec | H.264 is a broadly supported choice for a standard SDR stream. |
| Audio | AAC is a suitable choice; YouTube recommends 44.1 kHz for stereo AAC. |
Use YouTube’s bitrate table if you plan to stream above 720p; higher resolution or frame rate generally requires more sustained upload capacity. Run an upload-speed test from the place where you will broadcast, and leave bandwidth headroom: YouTube’s streaming tips recommend 20% above the total stream bitrate. If speed fluctuates, lower the video bitrate or resolution and rehearse again rather than relying on a best-case speed test (encoder settings; streaming tips).

Make speech and devotional music intelligible
Audio quality is central to a devotional stream. Rehearse with the actual singer or speaker, instruments, microphone distance, and room arrangement: a setting that sounds acceptable in silence may distort or become hard to hear once singing and accompaniment begin. Listen for clipping, echo, excessive room noise, and an imbalance between voice and instruments.
The phone’s built-in microphone is the simplest option. Larix also documents support for external USB audio devices, but the connector and compatibility depend on the Android device and audio hardware. An external microphone is optional, not a universal requirement; confirm that the phone recognizes it and test the full setup before the event (YouTube encoder setup; Larix for Android).

Rehearse, go live, and end the broadcast
- Start Larix with the saved YouTube connection early enough to send a preview before the scheduled program. YouTube’s guidance is explicit: “Make sure to test before you start your live stream.”
- In Live Control Room, confirm that the incoming preview appears. Check framing, focus, singing or speech level, and the stream health indicator. Also confirm the event can be viewed from the channel or watch page and on a mobile device.
- When ready, start the broadcast in Larix. Depending on the event configuration, wait for the preview and then click Go Live in Live Control Room.
- During the program, monitor stream health and listen for changes in audio or picture quality. If the connection becomes unstable, reduce the bitrate or resolution if you can do so safely, and avoid making untested changes mid-service.
- At the end, stop sending the feed from Larix and end the event in YouTube Studio when prompted. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; check the event’s archive and replay settings before relying on an archive (encoder workflow; streaming tips).
Set latency and replay options for the service
Latency is the delay between capture and a viewer’s playback. YouTube notes that lower latency can increase buffering. If the program includes live prayer requests or participation through chat, compare latency options in Live Control Room and test on the network you will use. For a service intended mainly for uninterrupted music or discourse, prioritize stable playback over minimizing delay. YouTube does not prescribe one latency setting for devotional streams.
DVR, when enabled, lets viewers pause and rewind during a live stream. Decide whether that experience suits the event and check the relevant option in YouTube’s live stream settings.

Check music rights before broadcasting
Identify the composition and the particular sound recording separately. Before using a commercial recording, backing track, another performer’s recording, or an arrangement you did not create, confirm permission for the live broadcast and any archived replay. Traditional or devotional lyrics do not automatically clear a modern recording or arrangement. Rights vary by specific work and recording, so ask the relevant rights holder or a qualified adviser; no blanket assurance can be made for a particular bhajan from its subject matter alone.
Troubleshoot common Larix-to-YouTube problems
- Live streaming is not available yet: Confirm that the channel’s live feature has been enabled. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it ahead of the event.
- Larix cannot connect: Check that you copied the URL and key for the same event, selected the saved connection, and used the protocol and destination shown by Live Control Room. If using RTMPS, ensure you copied the RTMPS URL rather than a different destination.
- YouTube receives a stream but reports poor health: Compare the total stream bitrate with stable upload capacity, leave the recommended headroom, and reduce bitrate or resolution if necessary. Repeat a rehearsal before the event.
- Viewers hear distorted, distant, or unbalanced sound: Rehearse with the real singers and instruments, adjust microphone placement and levels, and check whether Android is using the intended audio input. Test external USB audio compatibility before relying on it.
- The preview is missing or the event is not viewable: Check that Larix is sending to the event currently open in Live Control Room, wait for the incoming preview, and verify the event’s visibility and watch-page availability.
- The stream key may have been exposed: Reset the key in YouTube Live settings and replace it in Larix before broadcasting again.
Or let it run in the cloud
Larix is the phone-based route described above: it sends a live camera and audio feed from Android, so that phone and its connection must be available during the service. If instead you want a YouTube channel to run uploaded devotional recordings on a 24/7 loop, StreamNeo is a separate cloud option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It plays uploaded videos, not a live camera feed, and streams to YouTube only.
