These distinctions are based on the apps’ published information, not a controlled, hands-on uptime comparison. A phone app’s ability to broadcast in the background or resume a session is not the same as proof that it will survive continuous use.
What CameraFi Live offers for YouTube streaming
CameraFi Live is a plausible choice when the production setup depends on an external video input. Its Google Play listing, updated September 17, 2026, names USB cameras, capture cards, audio inputs, camera and screen modes, and YouTube among its supported options. The listing also describes image, video, audio, text, and web overlays, presets, and multistreaming via Restream.
That feature list does not establish that every phone works with every capture card, input, or streaming service. Confirm compatibility for your exact phone, Android version, capture hardware, and intended video and audio path before buying equipment or planning a long broadcast. What PRISM Live Studio offers for background streams
Android background broadcasting
PRISM’s background-broadcasting guide documents enabling “Allow display over other apps” for Android background use. PRISM explicitly says that iOS apps do not support background live broadcasting because of platform operating-system policies. The Android setting addresses background behavior; it cannot prevent every interruption from the operating system, heat, power, or network conditions.
Resuming a YouTube live session
PRISM documents a way to resume a YouTube stream when broadcasting has ended on the device but the YouTube live session remains on air. Its YouTube streaming end-process guide and resume guide describe this workflow. PRISM’s guide says resuming is supported for channels with more than 50 subscribers. This is recovery guidance for a particular situation, not a guarantee of uninterrupted 24-hour broadcasting.

Why a phone is a riskier choice for continuous operation
Long mobile broadcasts put several demands on one device: capturing or playing video, applying effects, and sending the stream. PRISM’s smartphone overheating guide explains the resource and heat burden and recommends reducing heat-generating conditions. A cooling fan may help manage heat, but its noise can be picked up by the stream, and cooling does not establish that a phone is suitable for validated 24/7 encoding.
Before relying on either app, run a test with the actual phone, charger, cooling arrangement, network, video source, and recording plan. Check how the stream behaves when you switch apps, lock the device if applicable, lose connectivity, or the app stops. A test can expose problems in your setup, but it cannot turn an undocumented reliability claim into a guarantee.

Will YouTube archive a 24/7 livestream?
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived. Streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all, and YouTube recommends keeping a local recording as a backup. If you need a YouTube archive, plan the programming as shorter streams rather than assuming a continuous 24/7 broadcast will produce one complete archive.
