Capture the whole page in Nimbus
- Open the Hindi website and let it finish rendering in your browser.
- Start Nimbus Screenshot using the extension button, the page context menu, or a configured hotkey.
- Choose Entire page. Nimbus’s guide describes this option as capturing the whole webpage.
- Review the result in Nimbus’s editor. If you do not need to edit it, click Done; use the current interface’s save action if you want to save the image. Nimbus’s published capture instructions do not document a switch that repairs Devanagari fonts, shaping, or character encoding. A screenshot records what the browser rendered, so changing capture mode alone is not established as a remedy.
Check whether the browser or the screenshot is wrong
Look at the same Hindi text in the live page before capturing, then compare it with the saved image. If it is wrong in both, investigate the page’s font, shaping, or text encoding. If the browser display looks correct but the image does not, preserve a small example and note the page URL, browser, operating system, and Nimbus version when reporting the issue. This comparison is a practical diagnostic, not a documented Nimbus support procedure.
Identify the type of Hindi text problem
Unicode guidance distinguishes missing font support, incorrect shaping, and incorrect characters or garbled text. Those symptoms point to different causes; the appearance alone does not prove which one applies to a particular page. See Unicode’s display-problem guidance.

Boxes, blank spaces, or missing marks
These can be “tofu” glyphs: the font being used does not contain the needed characters. On web pages, the browser or operating system may be supplying the font; a page author can instead use CSS web fonts to control which fonts are used. If the problem is limited to missing glyphs, check whether a suitable Devanagari font is available and whether the page loads its intended fonts.
Recognizable letters with misplaced marks or malformed conjuncts
Hindi uses a complex script whose characters must be shaped and positioned correctly. Incorrect forms can involve shaping support in the software, a font’s layout data, or both; simply installing a font is not guaranteed to fix every shaping issue. Unicode explains these as distinct possibilities in its guidance on display problems.

Replacement symbols, question marks, or unrelated characters
Text such as “�” can indicate mojibake: an incorrect encoding conversion may have altered the text before the browser displayed it. If the underlying encoded text is wrong, a screenshot setting or font change will not restore the intended characters. Unicode advises contacting the content author when the encoded representation may be suspect.
Try a fix that matches the symptom
- Missing glyphs: Check the page’s font loading and the browser or operating system’s available Devanagari fonts. A third-party Chrome Web Store listing for Hindi Font Pack describes a Devanagari fallback-font extension. Its listing reports version 3.0, updated June 5, 2024. It is not Nimbus guidance, and the listing does not establish that it will fix a particular site’s text; treat it only as an optional experiment after confirming a font-coverage symptom.
- Blurry or fuzzy text on Windows: Google’s Chrome instructions recommend running the ClearType Text Tuner. If that does not help, Google documents changing the Windows appearance setting for smoothing screen fonts and reopening Chrome. These steps concern blur, not missing glyphs or encoding errors. Follow Google’s instructions for text that is not displaying properly.
- Wrong characters or mojibake: Contact the website author and provide the affected text and page URL. The issue may be in the page’s encoded content or an earlier conversion, rather than in Nimbus.
- Browser correct, saved image wrong: Capture a small reproducible example and report the browser, operating system, Nimbus version, URL, and what differs between the page and image. Avoid changing unrelated font or encoding settings before you have isolated the capture-specific difference.
Capture and verify the result
- Once the Hindi text looks acceptable in the browser, choose Nimbus Entire page.
- Inspect the saved result at the affected text, including any marks or conjuncts that were previously wrong.
- If the text is still wrong, compare it again with the live page. A matching error points back toward page rendering; a difference gives you a reproducible example to report.

Should I change ClearType if Hindi characters appear as boxes?
No. Google’s ClearType guidance addresses fuzzy text on Windows. Boxes or missing glyphs suggest a font-support problem instead.
