The vendor says Nimbus Clarity and Capture were united under the Nimbus Capture name. Capture is offered as an updated browser extension and a separate desktop version, so the main distinction is legacy naming and installation form—not two unrelated competing products.
What is the difference between Nimbus Screenshot and Nimbus Capture?
The names refer to a product transition. The vendor says Nimbus Clarity and Capture were united under the Nimbus Capture name, and recommends downloading the updated Capture browser extension and desktop version. Nimbus Screenshot is the older name associated with the screenshot extension. The vendor’s migration guidance says previous versions may still be used, but will not be upgraded or supported. Is Nimbus Screenshot now Nimbus Capture?
In the vendor’s naming and migration guidance, yes: Nimbus Screenshot is the older extension name, while Nimbus Capture is the updated product name. Is Nimbus Capture a browser extension or a desktop app?
It is presented as both. The browser extension is described for webpage screenshots and annotation, including full-page and selected-area captures. The product information also describes screen recording with microphone and webcam options. A separate desktop app is listed for Mac and Windows, but that download-center information may be outdated; check the vendor’s current download page for present platform availability before installing. Those descriptions do not document complete feature parity between the browser extension and desktop version. If a particular tool—such as a recording control or capture mode—is essential, verify it for the specific version and operating system you plan to use.

Do you need to update the old Nimbus Screenshot extension?
The vendor recommends downloading its updated browser extension and desktop version. It says previous versions may continue to be used, but will not be upgraded or supported. That is the vendor’s stated support policy, not a guarantee that a particular older installation still works with your browser or operating system.
- Check the extension’s name and version in your browser’s extension manager.
- Compare it with the current Nimbus Capture extension offered by the vendor.
- If you rely on the older version, save any work you need and review the current product and download information before switching.
- After installing an updated version, test the capture and annotation functions you depend on before removing the old one.
Are Nimbus Capture’s prices and feature limits known?
The available product information does not establish current prices, plan names, or entitlements. An older vendor support page describes historical Capture Pro features including MP4/GIF conversion, watermarks, and unlimited full-page screenshots; it also says that at the time, a paid Nimbus Note subscription included paid Capture features. Those are historical terms, not reliable evidence of what is included today. Historical Capture Pro support information

The Mozilla Add-ons listing says that when screenshots are saved to Nimbus Note, system data including the operating-system version and browser data including the browser version are also sent. This statement is specific to the save-to-Nimbus-Note workflow. It does not establish what data every current version transmits in all circumstances, or what happens when an image is saved locally. ScreenshotNeo: an alternative for API-based website screenshots
If you need to capture webpages from code or an AI agent rather than use a browser extension or desktop app, ScreenshotNeo is a separate website screenshot API and MCP server. It is not a Nimbus product. A single GET request can return a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. Its clean-shot workflow accepts cookie or consent banners and removes supported consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each step can be turned off. Bot checks/CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and responses identify the page verdict and billing status in headers.
For example, this cURL request saves a WebP screenshot of a webpage; replace the API key and target URL with your own values. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options.
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webpScreenshotNeo also offers an MCP server with take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf tools for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients. Plans include 1,000 screenshots per month free with no card, then paid options starting at $5 for 3,000 shots. Sign up for 1,000 free screenshots a month with no card.
