Rotate a prerecorded video in CameraFi Live

Open your CameraFi Live session and swipe left to open the Video source controls.

Tap +, then select the prerecorded video from your phone’s gallery. CameraFi Live supports video files as broadcast sources; its Android getting-started guide confirms this capability.

Tap the video source you added. Choose Rotate left 90° or Rotate right 90° until the picture is upright. If it is mirrored, choose Reverse left and right; if it is upside down, choose Upside down. Use Reset to clear the source’s rotation and reversal adjustments. The exact source controls are described in CameraFi Live’s video-source guide.

Inspect the broadcast preview before going live. Confirm that the picture is upright and that the subject is framed as intended. Do not assume CameraFi Live will automatically crop or reframe every file to fit the chosen output layout.
Source rotation is not screen orientation
There are two separate controls to consider: the rotation of the video itself and the orientation of the phone or app screen. Use the Video source’s rotation commands to fix a sideways or inverted prerecorded picture. Use the phone’s screen-rotation control to keep the app in portrait or landscape as needed.

A CameraFi Live update note lists Settings > Screen Rotation options of Auto rotate, Landscape lock, Portrait lock, and Reverse landscape lock. That note is from 2020, so check the current location and labels in your installed version. Locking the screen does not replace rotating the video source.
Choose portrait or landscape and test the output
Decide whether you want a portrait or landscape livestream before broadcasting, and compare the file’s natural orientation with how you want viewers to see it. YouTube’s mobile livestream tips recommend choosing portrait or landscape in advance, locking screen rotation, checking internet speed, and testing video and audio with an unlisted livestream.

- Portrait video: Check that it remains upright and intentionally framed in the portrait output.
- Landscape video: Check that it remains upright and that the important action fits the landscape preview.
- Before going public: Run an unlisted test stream and verify both the picture and sound.
CameraFi Live’s older portrait-mode tutorial discusses 9:16 output for a vertically mounted USB camera. That specific example does not establish that every prerecorded video will be automatically reframed to 9:16.
Copyright and prerecorded video
CameraFi Live’s FAQ says its overlay feature can broadcast prerecorded video, and cautions that broadcasting another person’s content may lead to copyright violations. Use video you own or are authorized to use, and follow YouTube’s applicable policies. The app’s guidance is available in its FAQ.

If the orientation still looks wrong
- The video is sideways: Tap the video source and try the opposite 90° rotation command.
- The picture is mirrored: Use Reverse left and right.
- The picture is upside down: Choose Upside down, then recheck the preview.
- The app screen rotates unexpectedly: Set or lock screen orientation separately from the source adjustment. The current setting may differ from the older Settings > Screen Rotation path.
- The framing does not fill the output as expected: Inspect the preview and adjust your expectations or source choice; the cited guidance does not promise automatic reframing for every file.
