Short answer: CameraFi Live is the closer fit if you want to include a prerecorded clip in a mobile live-production layout; Larix Broadcaster is better documented for sending live camera video to YouTube. Neither app’s official documentation confirms hands-free, continuous looping of a stored video as the main YouTube live source. If a reliable loop is essential, verify the exact workflow on your device before relying on either app.
What each app is documented to do
| Decision point | CameraFi Live | Larix Broadcaster |
|---|---|---|
| Primary documented role | Mobile live-production app with overlays, camera and other sources; YouTube is among its listed destinations. CameraFi | Mobile capture and encoder app for live video and audio, publishing over protocols including RTMP and SRT. Softvelum |
| Stored-video support | CameraFi’s guide and FAQ describe adding video files or broadcasting prerecorded video through an overlay feature. This establishes an overlay use case, not necessarily full-screen playout or looping. CameraFi | The official product and YouTube encoder material describes live capture, streaming and recording. It does not document choosing a stored video file as the stream source or looping it. Softvelum |
| YouTube setup | CameraFi’s tutorial covers connecting a YouTube account and configuring a broadcast. CameraFi | Softvelum documents setting a YouTube RTMP server URL and stream key; YouTube lists Larix among mobile encoders. Softvelum · YouTube Help |
| Best-documented fit | Overlays and mobile production, including a broadcast composition that contains a prerecorded clip. | Live phone-camera contribution and encoder-style publishing. |
| Loop behavior | Continuous looping, restart at end-of-file, hands-free operation and long-duration stability are not established by the cited documentation. | Stored-file playout and continuous looping are not established by the cited documentation. |
Why an overlay is not the same as a looping video source
A video overlay can be one element in a live composition. That does not tell you whether the clip fills the entire broadcast, restarts when it ends, or continues without operator input. CameraFi’s documentation supports adding video files as an overlay/source, but it does not establish seamless repeat playout. CameraFi
Likewise, Larix recording support does not mean it can play a saved file back into a live stream. Its documented role is capturing and encoding live video and audio. Softvelum
Which app should you choose?
Choose CameraFi Live for an overlay-oriented production
CameraFi is the more relevant option if your phone is producing a live layout and you want to add a prerecorded clip as an overlay. Treat it as a candidate to test, not as a confirmed unattended looping player.

Choose Larix Broadcaster for live camera encoding
Larix is the clearer fit when the source is live phone video and you want encoder-style publishing to YouTube. Its documented RTMP and SRT workflows do not establish stored-video looping.
Choose neither without a test if looping is mandatory
If the video must repeat unattended, neither app is verified for that job by the official pages cited here. Use a separate playout workflow only if its loop behavior is explicitly documented, or test the precise app version and device before committing to a long broadcast.

Set up and verify a short YouTube test
CameraFi Live
- Confirm live streaming is enabled for your YouTube channel and complete any required account verification. CameraFi’s YouTube setup tutorial says first-time live-stream activation may take up to 24 hours; check YouTube’s current eligibility and activation flow because platform rules can change. CameraFi
- Follow CameraFi’s current YouTube account and broadcast setup flow. Its tutorial describes “Go Live Now” and “Event” options; confirm which options are currently available to your channel before planning the broadcast. CameraFi
- Add the clip using the video overlay/source feature, then check whether it is the main picture or an overlay in your actual composition. The documentation does not establish full-screen playback or automatic restart at the end. CameraFi
Larix Broadcaster
- In Larix, configure the YouTube destination using the RTMP server URL and stream key from YouTube’s current live setup. Follow Softvelum’s instructions and YouTube’s live encoder guidance; do not share the stream key. Softvelum · YouTube Help
- Configure video and audio for the live camera stream as described in the Larix setup guidance. The documented workflow is encoder publishing, not choosing a stored clip and looping it. Softvelum
- Start with a short test stream and confirm the picture and audio in YouTube before scheduling a longer broadcast.
Preflight checks for either app
- Confirm whether the clip is full-screen or only an overlay.
- Observe whether playback restarts at the exact end of the file and whether it does so without a tap.
- Check operation with the app in the foreground and, if you expect it to continue, after the phone locks or the app is backgrounded.
- Check audio routing and synchronization, and note what happens during an incoming call or network interruption.
- Run the test on the same phone, operating system, app version and network you intend to use. Confirm YouTube’s current stream limits for the planned duration.
The cited app pages do not publish test results for these conditions, so long-duration loop reliability remains unverified.
Copyright and channel considerations
CameraFi’s FAQ warns that using someone else’s content can raise copyright concerns. Having a file on your phone or being able to add it to a broadcast does not grant permission to stream it. Use footage and audio you own or are licensed to use, and check YouTube’s current copyright and live-stream rules. CameraFi

A technical ability to stream a clip also does not guarantee that a channel or broadcast will qualify under YouTube’s current monetization and reused-content policies. Review YouTube’s current policies for your channel and content rather than treating a successful test stream as approval.
