In Larix Broadcaster, enter YouTube’s server URL and your current stream key as one connection URL: rtmp://a.rtmp.youtube.com/live2/STREAM_KEY. Replace STREAM_KEY with the key shown for the intended stream in YouTube Studio. Keep that key private: it is a credential, not a public link.
Where to get the YouTube RTMP URL and stream key
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go live.
- In the Live Control Room, open the Stream tab and create or select the stream you intend to broadcast.
- Copy the current Stream URL and Stream key shown for that stream. Use the values YouTube displays; do not use an example key from a guide or a key belonging to another stream.
YouTube’s encoder workflow uses the server URL as the destination and the stream key as the credential. Larix’s documented connection format can combine those into a single URL.
How to enter the URL in Larix Broadcaster
- Open Larix Broadcaster’s settings or connection list and add a connection. The exact screen labels can vary by app version and operating system.
- Name it something recognizable, such as YouTube Live.
- In the Connection URL field, enter
rtmp://a.rtmp.youtube.com/live2/STREAM_KEY, replacingSTREAM_KEYwith the exact key copied from YouTube Studio. The slash betweenlive2and the key is required. - Save the connection and make it the active destination before starting the broadcast.
- Start broadcasting from Larix and check the Live Control Room for the incoming preview or signal. For a scheduled stream, review the preview there and select Go live when ready.
If your Larix version presents separate server and key fields instead of one combined URL field, follow the app’s current field labels: use YouTube’s server URL for the server field and the current key for the key field. Do not append the key to a field that already accepts it separately.
RTMP or RTMPS: which URL should you use?
| Choice | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| RTMP | YouTube’s ordinary ingestion URL, shown by default in the Live Control Room. | Use the RTMP server address and key in Larix as described above. |
| RTMPS | RTMP carried over TLS/SSL, encrypting the connection to YouTube. | YouTube recommends RTMPS when the encoder supports it. In Stream settings, use the lock control beside Stream URL to reveal and copy YouTube’s RTMPS URL. Use that exact URL; do not simply change rtmp to rtmps yourself. |
Larix documentation explains the combined RTMP URL format, but does not establish RTMPS support for every current Larix version and operating system. Check whether your installed version supports RTMPS before choosing it. A protocol or URL mismatch can cause a timeout or SSL error. YouTube notes that specifying port 443 can resolve some SSL errors when the URL or encoder configuration calls for it; do not add a port unless it applies to the URL and setup you are using.

Keep the stream key secure
YouTube describes stream keys as “like your YouTube stream’s password and address.” Treat the key as a password: do not share it, publish it, or include it in screenshots. If it is exposed or you suspect someone else has it, reset the key in YouTube Studio and replace the old value in Larix. YouTube says only a channel owner or manager can reset a stream key.
Video and audio settings are separate from the URL
The connection URL determines where Larix sends the broadcast; it does not set picture quality. YouTube’s encoder guidance recommends constant bitrate and a two-second keyframe interval, with keyframes no more than four seconds apart. Its H.264 bitrate examples are recommendations, not guarantees:

| 720p at 60 fps | 6 Mbps |
| 1080p at 30 fps | 10 Mbps |
| 1080p at 60 fps | 12 Mbps |
These are YouTube’s current encoder recommendations accessed in 2026. Choose an output your device can encode and your stable upload connection can sustain; available codecs in YouTube’s encoder guidance include H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1. YouTube defaults to automatic resolution and frame-rate detection; manual resolution can be configured through a custom stream key.
For audio, make sure Larix is allowed to use the microphone and that audio is enabled in the encoder configuration. The app’s permission controls and settings can vary by device and version.

Troubleshoot common connection problems
| Symptom | Likely checks and fixes |
|---|---|
| YouTube shows no incoming signal | Confirm Larix is broadcasting to the active YouTube connection; verify that the intended stream is selected in Studio; check the full server address, slash separator, and exact current key. Save the connection again if you edited it. |
| The stream key was changed or exposed | Reset it in YouTube Studio, then update Larix with the replacement key before broadcasting again. |
| RTMPS reports an SSL error or times out | Copy the URL using YouTube’s RTMPS lock control, check that Larix supports RTMPS, and make sure the URL and protocol match. If the configuration calls for port 443, follow YouTube’s guidance for that specific setup. |
| The stream connects but looks poor or unstable | Check upload stability and encoder output independently of the URL. Select a bitrate appropriate to resolution and frame rate, use constant bitrate, and set a two-second keyframe interval. |
| There is no audio | Check the device’s microphone permission for Larix and confirm audio is enabled in the app’s broadcast configuration. |
Stop the broadcast cleanly
Stop the broadcast in Larix, then finish or end the live stream in YouTube Studio as appropriate for that stream. For a scheduled stream, YouTube’s workflow includes ending the stream in the Live Control Room as well as stopping encoder output.

Larix is for sending a live camera feed from your mobile device. StreamNeo is a different option for keeping a YouTube channel live with uploaded videos: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo loops the uploaded video from the cloud, so it does not replace Larix for a camera broadcast.
