The app’s live timer alone does not confirm that YouTube is receiving your stream. If YouTube is not live, check Streamlabs’ Disconnect Protection setting; if the broadcast genuinely started and then ended, work through the network and device checks below.
First, tell which problem you have
Streamlabs says live, but YouTube does not
Open your channel or YouTube Studio and check whether the broadcast is actually live. Streamlabs has documented a specific “app looks live but isn’t live on platform” issue: the app may show a live timer, FPS or bitrate, and a Stop control even though YouTube is not live. The documented cause is a failure by Disconnect Protection to connect to Streamlabs servers. Streamlabs reported this issue on November 1, 2025, and its support article, dated January 17, 2026, gives workarounds. See Streamlabs’ support guidance.
YouTube showed the broadcast live, then it stopped
That is a different symptom. Check the connection and reduce the phone’s workload first. The documented Disconnect Protection issue explains a mismatch between the app’s status and the destination platform; it is not established as the cause of every broadcast that truly ends.
Fix a false-live status in Streamlabs
- Confirm the mismatch. Check your channel or YouTube Studio rather than relying only on Streamlabs’ live timer.
- Turn off Disconnect Protection. In Streamlabs Mobile, open the top-left menu, select Disconnect Protection, and switch it off. Try starting the broadcast again and verify the result on YouTube.
- If you want to keep Disconnect Protection enabled, Streamlabs’ documented alternative is to enable Multistream on Streamlabs.com. Check the current Streamlabs instructions and plan entitlements before relying on this option, as app features and subscription terms can change.
If the broadcast truly dropped
Check the network
Reconnect to a stable available internet connection, then see whether the stream remains up. If your connection changes or becomes unstable, that may interrupt a broadcast; the available sources do not establish one universal cause for genuine mid-stream dropouts. Streamlabs lists Network Boost as a feature that uses multiple internet connections to support mobile reliability. Its Google Play listing associates Disconnect Protection with Streamlabs Ultra; Network Boost is also a plan feature, not a guaranteed fix. Confirm current availability and requirements in the app. Check the Streamlabs Google Play listing.

Reduce the phone’s workload
Before trying again, close other open apps. Streamlabs recommends this to reduce potential lag or crashes during mobile streaming. If the problem continues, note whether it happens on one connection or more than one; that observation can help distinguish a connection-specific issue from a problem that persists across networks.
Capture details if it keeps happening
Record the Streamlabs app version, Android version and device model, time of the interruption, connection type, whether YouTube Studio showed the broadcast as live, and what status Streamlabs displayed. These details are useful when contacting support, though Streamlabs’ cited pages do not prescribe a universal diagnostic checklist or identify every cause of a true disconnection.

If you cannot start a mobile broadcast
YouTube’s mobile eligibility rules concern starting or being eligible to livestream; they do not, by themselves, explain why an established stream ends. YouTube’s mobile help page lists these requirements:
- Your channel must be verified and live streaming must be enabled.
- Your channel must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days.
- You need at least 50 subscribers to livestream from a mobile device.
- Your device must run Android 8.0 or later.
- When enabling mobile live streaming for the first time, activation can take up to 24 hours.
