Awesome Screenshot offers browser-based full-page, selected-area, and visible-part captures, plus screen and application-window capture, annotation, and sharing options. Its documentation describes a capable quick-feedback workflow, but it does not establish how accurately or quickly the extension captures difficult pages. Browser restrictions can also disable some modes. This review separates documented features from questions you should verify on the pages and plan you intend to use.
What Awesome Screenshot can capture
The Chrome Web Store listing describes five capture targets: a full page, a selected area, the visible part of a page, the entire screen, or a specific application window. It also lists delayed capture for visible-part, screen, and application-window modes. The vendor’s help center documents full-page capture in its Chrome, Edge, Safari, and Firefox extensions. Availability of a mode does not guarantee that it will work on every page.
For a webpage that scrolls beyond the viewport, full-page capture is the mode intended to collect the page beyond what is currently visible. Selected-area capture is suited to isolating a particular region, while visible-part capture limits the result to the current viewport. Screen and application-window capture provide alternatives when an extension cannot access a page.
How to take a full-page screenshot
The vendor provides instructions for its browser extensions, but exact controls can vary by browser and extension version. Use the extension’s full-page option, then inspect the resulting image for missing or repeated content, especially on pages with dynamic or embedded elements.

- Open the webpage you want to capture in a browser with the Awesome Screenshot extension installed.
- Open the extension and choose its full-page capture option.
- Review the resulting capture before annotating or sharing it. Check the top, middle, and bottom for missing sections or layout problems.
- Save or share the capture using the output options available in your extension and plan.
The vendor’s documentation confirms that full-page capture is available in Chrome, Edge, Safari, and Firefox extensions, but the available sources do not establish capture fidelity across particular browser versions or page types. Treat long, lazy-loaded, animated, and embedded content as cases to verify rather than assume.
When capture modes are unavailable
Browser security rules can prevent extensions from running scripts on certain pages. Awesome Screenshot says full-page and selected-area modes may be dimmed on extension-store pages, browser settings, and other restricted URLs. The vendor’s support article says: “The Full Page and Selected Area options may appear dimmed, indicating that they are not available.”
This is a limitation of extension access and page behavior, not necessarily a problem unique to Awesome Screenshot. The vendor recommends capturing the visible part, the entire screen, or an application window instead, then cropping the result if needed. Its support material also acknowledges that some pages may remain uncaptured or may be captured incorrectly.

Annotation and sharing options
The Chrome Web Store listing describes tools for marking up a capture, including crop and resize, rectangles, circles, arrows, lines, text, highlighting, and blur. The vendor’s annotation guide explains adjusting shapes and pen marks, including their color and thickness. These tools are intended for practical tasks such as pointing to a bug, indicating a page element, or preparing an illustrated instruction.

It also lists sending captures to Jira, Slack, Trello, Asana, and GitHub. Availability of particular integrations or plan features can vary; check the current extension and plan details before relying on a specific workflow.
Blur is listed as a way to obscure sensitive information, but the available documentation does not establish whether redaction is irreversible through every export or sharing path. Do not use it as the sole protection for confidential data unless you verify the output cannot reveal the original information.

Capture quality: what is and is not established
Feature listings show that full-page and other capture modes exist; they do not demonstrate how accurately the tool renders a particular site. The available product and help materials do not provide independent benchmarks for fidelity, speed, dynamic-page behavior, or comparisons against other tools. A rating or user count on a store listing is not evidence of capture performance.
If capture quality matters to your workflow, test representative pages before adopting the extension. Include a simple static page, a long page, a page that loads images as you scroll, a page with embedded content, and any restricted browser page you regularly need. Compare the result with the source page and check for omitted areas, duplicated sections, broken layout, or content that appeared only after interaction.

The vendor’s pricing page lists a free plan and paid tiers with differences in screenshot and recording allowances, annotation access, resolution, and some editing or recovery limits. Prices and plan terms can change, so consult the current pricing page before choosing a tier. The available information does not justify assuming a particular allowance or feature applies to every plan.

The Chrome Web Store privacy disclosure says the extension handles website content. The vendor’s privacy policy, last updated July 16, 2024, describes account data such as name and email, usage data, optional third-party integrations, and data retention. It says users can save screenshots and recordings locally rather than using vendor or third-party cloud storage, and that the company cannot guarantee absolute security. Those are the vendor’s disclosures, not independent verification; review the current privacy policy against your organization’s requirements.
