If FireShot shows a page in its capture window but saves a blank image or PDF, first check whether the blankness appears in the preview, the saved file, or only on early pages of a long PDF. Those are different reported symptoms, and the available reports do not establish one universal cause. Compare a visible-area capture with the failing full-page capture, and record your browser, operating system, FireShot version, page, capture mode, and output format before changing settings.
Identify which kind of blank capture you have
“Blank” can mean a completely white saved file, or a long PDF whose first pages look mostly blank even though text appears later. The difference helps narrow down what to test.
- Preview has content, saved file is blank: Note that discrepancy and compare another output format or capture mode.
- Preview and saved file are both blank: Check that the page is rendering normally, then compare a visible-area capture with a full-page capture.
- Only early pages of a long PDF are blank: Try slowing the capture scroll so content has more time to render.
A January 2026 FireShot forum report described a full-page capture that appeared in FireShot’s window but saved as white space. It involved FireShot 2.1.4.4 on Windows 11 Pro 24H2 and Chrome 143.0.7499.170. A separate 2022 report involved mostly blank opening pages in a PDF from a long page. These are user reports from different environments, not a confirmed shared diagnosis or a universal fix. January 2026 white-file report; 2022 long-PDF report.
Work through these checks in order
1. Record the setup and reproduce the failure
Before changing settings, write down:
- FireShot version, browser and browser version, and operating system
- The affected page URL (use a sanitized example if the page is private)
- Whether you chose visible-area, full-page, or selection capture
- Whether you saved an image or PDF
- Whether the capture preview differed from the saved file, and which pages or areas were blank
The two documented reports differ in version, browser, operating system, and symptom, so this context is important when diagnosing or reporting the issue.

2. Confirm the page itself is visible
Reload the page and check that its content has rendered in the browser before capturing. Then take a visible-area capture of content currently on screen. This is a comparison test, not a guaranteed fix: it helps establish whether the issue occurs only with full-page capture or also with the visible area.
3. Slow scrolling for long or dynamic pages
For a long page or content that loads as you scroll, try reducing FireShot’s scrolling speed in FireShot Options, then repeat the same capture. In the 2022 forum thread, FireShot forum administrator JK suggested reducing scrolling speed “to get it fully rendered while it’s scrolling.” The original reporter later said this did not fix their case, so treat it as a test rather than a reliable remedy. 4. Compare the capture scope and output format
Use the same page to compare a visible-area capture with the failing full-page or selection capture. If practical, compare an image with a PDF as well. Note whether the blankness follows the page, the capture mode, the output format, or only the beginning of a long document. This is a diagnostic workflow based on the reported symptom types, not a FireShot-confirmed fix.
5. Check the listing for your browser
Use the store listing for the browser where FireShot is installed; the listing version is not proof of the exact build on your computer or that a particular blank-capture issue is fixed. The Firefox listing showed version 1.12.18, last updated June 5, 2023, and separately mentioned a v2 rollout with a developer-hosted build. The Chrome Web Store listing showed version 2.1.4.18, updated May 24, 2026. If it still fails, report a reproducible case
FireShot’s Firefox listing directs technical questions to its support forum. Include your setup details, exact steps, capture mode and output format, and whether the preview and saved file differ. A sanitized example URL can help others reproduce the failure. The forum’s bug-report index includes recent reports of blank scrolling output and other page-specific capture problems; that does not establish that every report has the same cause. Do not treat disabling privacy or security tools, reinstalling the browser, changing hardware acceleration, or downgrading FireShot as established solutions for this symptom: the cited reports do not substantiate those steps.
