For a mostly static bhajan visual with stereo music, a practical XSplit starting profile is 1080p at 30 fps, H.264 video at 5 Mbps with CBR and a 2-second keyframe interval, plus stereo AAC at 128 kbps and 44.1 kHz. These are platform-aligned starting settings, not an India-specific preset; test the actual upload connection before relying on them for a continuous broadcast.
Before you configure XSplit
Enable YouTube Live early
Your channel must be verified and free of live-stream restrictions in the previous 90 days to use YouTube Live through XSplit. Initial activation can take up to 24 hours, so complete it before the planned broadcast. See XSplit’s YouTube Live setup guide.
Confirm rights to the music
Devotional subject matter does not automatically clear a recording for livestream use. Rights can apply separately to the composition, arrangement, and particular recording. Obtain permission or another valid basis for the exact use, and coordinate channel allowlisting with the rightsholder if required. YouTube for Artists advises: “If you’re planning on using copyright-protected music during your live stream, we recommend coordinating with your label or distributor to avoid any issues, such as copyright strikes.” See YouTube for Artists’ guidance on going live. No specific bhajan recording can be assumed to be public domain or cleared.
Recommended XSplit encoder settings
Start with the following for a static image or devotional artwork and stereo bhajan audio. YouTube’s current encoder guidance is platform-wide; it does not prescribe a separate India profile.

| Setting | Starting value | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Output | YouTube Live native output; RTMPS where available | YouTube recommends encrypted RTMPS transport. |
| Resolution and frame rate | 1920 × 1080 at 30 fps | A practical baseline for a largely static visual. If the connection or encoder struggles, test 1280 × 720 at 30 fps instead. |
| Video codec | H.264 | Use a codec supported by the selected XSplit output and encoder hardware. |
| Rate control and bitrate | CBR, 5 Mbps video | YouTube lists 5 Mbps minimum and 14 Mbps recommended for H.264 1080p30. Five Mbps is a conservative starting point, not a guarantee of stable delivery or a required ceiling. |
| Keyframe interval | 2 seconds | Do not exceed 4 seconds under YouTube’s guidance. |
| Audio | AAC stereo, 128 kbps, 44.1 kHz | Matches YouTube’s listed stereo audio guidance. |
| Picture format | Progressive scan, square pixels, Rec. 709 for SDR | Use these standard picture characteristics for an SDR stream. |
YouTube also lists H.265 and AV1 as supported codecs. Choose one only if your current XSplit output and hardware support it; H.264 is the straightforward starting choice.
When to choose 720p instead
YouTube’s H.264 guidance lists 3 Mbps minimum and 8 Mbps recommended for 720p30. Choose 720p30 if the actual connection cannot reliably sustain the 1080p bitrate, if encoder headroom is limited, or if the visual does not need full HD detail. Consider whether artwork and on-screen text remain legible, how much motion is present, and the likely network conditions of viewers. A stable lower-resolution stream is preferable to a higher setting that repeatedly drops frames.

Set up a bhajan scene and YouTube output in XSplit
- Build the scene. In XSplit, create a scene and add the intended background, image, text, and audio source. Verify that the bhajan plays and loops cleanly. Check the mixer so desktop sounds or a microphone are not accidentally included. XSplit’s getting-started guide describes the scene-first workflow.
- Choose the native YouTube output. Open the Broadcast menu, create or select the YouTube output, and authorize the channel. Fill in the stream title, description, tags, category, privacy, latency, and DVR settings for the event. XSplit’s interface can change, so follow the labels shown in your installed version. The YouTube output dialog also documents an option for a backup server.
- Apply the encoder profile. Set resolution, frame rate, codec, CBR bitrate, keyframe interval, and audio format to the values above. Confirm the selected encoder is compatible with your XSplit build and available hardware.
- Test the actual feed. Send representative audio and any motion that will appear during the broadcast. Check YouTube’s stream health and the encoder’s upload bitrate. Leave headroom above the configured stream bitrate for network variation and other use of the same connection; a speed-test result alone does not establish sustained streaming capacity.
- Start the broadcast. If this is a scheduled event, create it in YouTube Studio first and select it from XSplit’s Live Event list. Decide whether you need Manual Transition: with it enabled, XSplit sends the feed but an operator still has to press Go Live in Studio; with it disabled, starting the XSplit broadcast can start the YouTube event automatically. See XSplit’s scheduled-stream guide.
Use Custom RTMP only if needed
If the native integration does not fit your setup, XSplit also supports a Custom RTMP output. Enter YouTube’s stream URL and stream key in that output, following XSplit’s Custom RTMP instructions. Keep the key private; anyone with access to it may be able to broadcast to your channel.
Plan for a 24/7 stream’s replay limits
Google’s live production guide says, “All streams under 12 hours will be archived.” That supports planning shorter events if a complete YouTube replay matters: a single uninterrupted 24-hour broadcast is not a dependable way to produce a complete archive. The guidance does not say that a longer live event must end at 12 hours. Consider recording a separate local copy if you need continuity beyond what YouTube archives. See Google’s Full Live Production guide.

Troubleshooting common stream problems
- You cannot select or start YouTube Live: Check channel verification and live-stream restrictions, then allow for up to 24 hours after first enabling Live.
- YouTube reports poor stream health or the feed drops: Test the actual encoder feed, reduce bitrate or move from 1080p30 to 720p30, and check whether other devices or services are using the upload connection. Leave capacity beyond the configured stream bitrate.
- The event appears scheduled but viewers cannot see it: If Manual Transition is enabled, an operator still has to press Go Live in YouTube Studio after XSplit begins sending.
- The audio is silent, doubled, or includes unwanted sounds: Recheck the scene’s selected audio source and mixer levels; verify the intended bhajan loops and that desktop or microphone audio is not entering unintentionally.
- A copyright claim or strike appears: Stop and review the rights for the exact composition and recording. Contact the rightsholder or distributor about permission and any required channel allowlisting; devotional content alone does not establish clearance.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the recommended bitrate depend on being in India?
YouTube’s cited encoder guidance is platform-wide, not an India-specific preset. The upload connection at the actual streaming location determines whether the chosen setting is sustainable.
Can I use XSplit to stream bhajans from a camera?
The XSplit setup described here can include live audio and scene sources, but StreamNeo’s cloud workflow plays uploaded videos rather than going live from a camera.
