In Firefox, press Ctrl + Shift + S on Windows or Linux, or Command + Shift + S on macOS. Firefox opens its screenshot tool, where you can capture a selected area, a page element, the visible screen, or the full page, then download or copy the image.
Take a screenshot with the Firefox shortcut
- Open the page you want to capture in Firefox.
- Press Ctrl + Shift + S on Windows or Linux, or Command + Shift + S on macOS. Mozilla lists this action as “Take a screenshot.” Mozilla’s Firefox keyboard shortcuts.
- Choose what to capture: drag over a custom region, click a highlighted page element, select Save full page, or select Save visible for the portion currently on screen. Mozilla’s screenshot instructions.
- Select Download to save the image in Firefox’s default download folder, or Copy to put it on the clipboard. Press Esc or select the X control to cancel.
Choose the right capture type
- Selected region: Drag around the part of the page you need.
- Page element: Click an element after Firefox highlights it, such as an image or section.
- Visible page: Use Save visible to capture the portion currently displayed in the window.
- Entire page: Use Save full page to include content beyond the current screen.
After the screenshot interface opens, you can also use Ctrl + S on Windows or Linux, or Command + S on macOS, to save; Ctrl + C or Command + C copies the capture.
If the keyboard shortcut does not work
Firefox shortcuts can conflict with shortcuts reserved by your desktop environment or window manager. Mozilla notes this limitation. Try either of these alternatives:
- Right-click an empty part of the page and choose Take Screenshot.
- Open the Firefox menu, choose More Tools → Customize Toolbar, and add the Screenshot button to the toolbar.
