To livestream with FFmpeg over JioFiber, create a broadcast in YouTube Live Control Room, copy that broadcast’s current RTMPS ingest address and stream key, and set FFmpeg’s bitrate below the sustained upload speed available at your streaming computer. Jio’s advertised plan speed is not a guarantee of the route to YouTube, so verify the incoming preview and stream health before sharing the broadcast.
1. Create a YouTube broadcast and get its ingest details
- Open YouTube Live Control Room and create or schedule a broadcast.
- Copy the ingest address and stream key shown for that stream. Use the current values rather than an address or key from an old tutorial: YouTube’s ingestion information is associated with the stream’s CDN settings. YouTube LiveStreams documentation
- Keep the key private. Treat it like a password; do not include a real key in screenshots, public scripts, or examples.
Use the full RTMPS address provided by YouTube when available. RTMPS is RTMP carried over SSL; Google specifies port 443 and the correct hostname and path. A hostname or path from an example may not match your stream. YouTube: Set up your encoder for live streaming

2. Check the upload capacity at the streaming computer
Jio says its postpaid plans are symmetric, meaning upload speed equals download speed. Its plan comparison page has examples of 30/30 Mbps, 100/100 Mbps, and 150/150 Mbps upload/download, with 30-day validity and unlimited data; displayed prices are plus GST. Jio’s terms qualify plan speed as guaranteed up to the ISP node and say a contention ratio applies. A plan headline or a brief speed test therefore cannot establish stable end-to-end upload to YouTube. Test from the actual computer and connection you will use, ideally around the time you intend to stream, and observe upload over a sustained interval. Keep the total outgoing rate—video, audio, and transport overhead—comfortably below the lowest sustained upload result you observe. There is no single safety percentage established for every JioFiber connection; leave enough margin for variation rather than matching the encoder bitrate to the best speed-test result.
3. Choose YouTube-compatible video and audio settings
YouTube’s general RTMP/RTMPS guidance lists H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 video, AAC or MP3 audio, constant bitrate (CBR), frame rates up to 60 fps, and a recommended two-second keyframe interval that must not exceed four seconds. These are YouTube’s H.264 ingest recommendations, checked in 2026; they do not guarantee uninterrupted delivery or a particular viewer-side quality. YouTube gives separate ingest ranges for AV1 and H.265, so do not apply the H.264 figures to those codecs. Keyframe spacing longer than four seconds can cause buffering. Select a format whose recommended bitrate fits beneath your measured upload with room for audio and network variation. If it does not, reduce frame rate, resolution, or bitrate and check the stream again; the ISP plan’s advertised rate alone is not enough to select settings.

4. Send a local video file with FFmpeg
This template reads a local file in real time and encodes a 720p30 H.264 stream. Replace the placeholders with your input and YouTube’s complete current RTMPS address, and use it only if the resulting total rate suits your measured connection. The example has not been run or tested here.

At 60 fps, use 120 frames for the same interval.-pix_fmt yuv420psets a widely supported pixel format; the example’s remaining audio options encode AAC at 128 kbps and 44.1 kHz.- The sample’s host and path are illustrative only. Copy the actual full endpoint from YouTube rather than assuming every stream uses the same ingest host or application path.
If the input already uses suitable codecs, stream copy may avoid re-encoding, but first verify its codec, frame rate, keyframes, and audio against the chosen output. This local-file command is not a ready-made command for a camera, capture card, or desktop; device arguments vary by operating system and hardware. Command-line keys may appear in shell history or process listings, so use a protected secret-handling method where practical.

5. Verify the signal before going live
- Start FFmpeg and open the broadcast preview in YouTube Live Control Room.
- Confirm that both video and audio arrive and that the stream-health status is healthy.
- Only then click “Go Live” or share the broadcast link.

6. Troubleshoot connection, buffering, or missing audio
