What RDR2 feature is GTA 6 reportedly upgrading?
The headline’s “feature” is ambiguous. GamesRadar reports that Rob Nelson, co-studio head at Rockstar North, said GTA VI takes NPC interactions “much further” than RDR2. Separately, PC Gamer reports that Nelson discussed GTA VI’s Criminal Profile system alongside its Wanted Level and compared its broader approach to player behavior with RDR2’s Honor system.

Both accounts describe comments from Nelson in an interview with IGN. The systems should not be collapsed into one: NPC interactions concern how people respond in the moment, while Criminal Profile concerns consequences associated with patterns of conduct. Rockstar’s official GTA VI page confirms the game and its extended-look announcement, but does not itself provide a detailed specification of either system.
How GTA 6’s NPC interactions reportedly go beyond RDR2
According to GamesRadar’s account of Nelson’s comments, NPCs may notice when a player character is too close or seems to be eavesdropping. Their response can vary: they might become aggressive or move away. That suggests reactions tied to a situation, rather than a single fixed response, but it is not a full technical description of the system.

GamesRadar also points to examples in the extended look. Jason can praise, scold, pet, or study a dog; NPCs near Lucia during a masked armed robbery are shown reacting by leaving. These examples illustrate different kinds of interaction and reactions to nearby events. They do not establish every available interaction or how the game handles every circumstance.
What Criminal Profile means—and how it differs from RDR2 Honor
PC Gamer reports that GTA VI’s Criminal Profile appears alongside Wanted Level and is connected to the consequences of consistent player behavior. Its account says NPCs may remember escalation or aggression, and that actions can influence how the world reacts and how the narrative plays out. Nelson’s reported wording, as reproduced by PC Gamer, is: “There isn’t a right or wrong way to play this game, but consistent actions may have an impact in terms of how the world reacts to you and how the narrative plays out.”

That comparison does not establish that RDR2’s Honor meter is returning unchanged. RDR2 Honor is the point of comparison; the reporting describes Criminal Profile as a more nuanced treatment of conduct and its effects. The available descriptions do not specify exactly what behaviors it tracks, how consequences are calculated, or which effects are social, law-enforcement-related, or narrative.
