How to Capture a Full-Page Screenshot in Chrome DevTools on Mac

To capture an entire webpage in Chrome on a Mac, open DevTools, turn on the Device Toolbar, then choose More options → Capture a full size screenshot. This captures content beyond the visible browser window.

Capture the full page in Chrome DevTools

1. Open the webpage in Chrome, then open DevTools. The Mac shortcut Command+Option+C opens DevTools. Chrome documents this and other opening methods in its DevTools overview.

2. In DevTools, click Toggle device toolbar in the action bar. The toolbar opens with Dimensions set to Responsive by default. Chrome’s Device Mode documentation explains the toolbar and its controls.

3. In the Device Toolbar, open More options and select Capture a full size screenshot. Chrome captures the whole page, including content outside the current viewport.

4. Locate the resulting image using Chrome’s download behavior on your setup. The Chrome instructions do not specify a universal filename, image format, or download-folder location, so check your browser’s configured download location rather than relying on a particular name or extension.

Choose the right screenshot command

For an area screenshot on Mac, open the Command Menu with Command+Shift+P, search for the area capture command, and drag to select the region. Chrome notes that area capture does not work while DevTools is undocked; see its Command Menu documentation.

Set the viewport only when it matters

Use the Device Toolbar’s dimensions controls if the screenshot needs a particular viewport or device preset. Otherwise, the default Responsive setting is sufficient for the capture workflow. Device Mode approximates a mobile view on your computer; it is not the same as testing the page on a physical phone.

Troubleshooting

• The image shows only the visible portion of the page. You likely selected Capture screenshot. Open More options in the Device Toolbar and choose Capture a full size screenshot.

• You cannot find the Device Toolbar. Open DevTools and click Toggle device toolbar in its action bar. The toolbar is the location of the full-page capture command.

• The area-capture command is unavailable or does not work. Confirm that DevTools is docked; Chrome says area capture does not work when DevTools is undocked. Use the full-size command instead if you need the entire page.

• You cannot find the saved image. Check Chrome’s download location and download history. The cited Chrome instructions do not establish a fixed filename or folder for every setup.

• The mobile screenshot differs from a real phone. Device Mode is a desktop simulation. Validate behavior on physical hardware when the actual device experience matters.
