To stream a relaxation video channel to YouTube around the clock, run an encoder on a cloud server and send its video and audio to YouTube Live using the stream’s ingest address and stream key. A reliable setup requires an eligible YouTube channel, an encoder configured for the media and available server bandwidth, a successful preview test, and monitoring that can detect and recover from interruptions.

How the cloud-to-YouTube setup works
The cloud server runs the encoder; YouTube receives its outgoing live feed. YouTube distinguishes the incoming liveStream from the liveBroadcast viewers watch. The Live Streaming API describes a 24/7 feed that may be associated with a separate video or broadcast, but API automation is optional: you can configure a stream in YouTube Studio instead. Your looped relaxation video and audio are the encoder’s input. The encoder sends the encoded output to YouTube’s ingest endpoint. The server must remain available, the encoder process must keep running, and YouTube must continue receiving a healthy feed. A 24/7 stream is therefore an ongoing operations task, not just a video upload.

Check YouTube channel eligibility first
Before paying for or configuring a server, confirm that live streaming is enabled on the channel. YouTube’s live streaming tips state that a channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. Set up the broadcast before launch and test the complete path with a private or unlisted event before promoting the channel.
Choose and prepare the cloud server
There is no single server size that fits every stream. The right capacity depends on the selected encoder, resolution, frame rate, codec, and whether the server encodes the media or simply sends already-encoded media. Continuous encoding can use substantial CPU or GPU resources; check that the server can sustain the workload and that its outbound bandwidth and provider egress billing suit a nonstop feed.
- Confirm the server’s CPU or GPU can encode continuously at your chosen settings.
- Check sustained outbound capacity, not just a headline connection speed, and leave headroom above the video bitrate for protocol overhead and network variation.
- Review the hosting provider’s egress charges and any limits that apply to long-running outbound traffic.
- Keep the relaxation media available to the encoder, and retain a separate recoverable copy in case the working files are lost.
- Plan how the encoder will restart after a process failure, server maintenance, or reboot; retain logs and configure alerts so an interruption is visible.
These are practical sizing and operations considerations; YouTube does not prescribe a cloud provider, instance size, uptime target, or process manager.

Create the YouTube stream and protect its key
- In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create or select a live stream. For automated workflows, the LiveStreams API provides ingestion information, including a primary and optional backup address.
- Copy the correct ingest server address and stream key into the encoder’s YouTube settings. Treat the key as an account credential: do not publish it, include it in public scripts, or expose it in logs.
- If you choose RTMPS, use the RTMPS-specific ingest address rather than a plain RTMP address. YouTube’s RTMPS guide describes RTMPS as RTMP transported over SSL/TLS, specifies port 443, and notes that the endpoint hostname must be handled correctly for TLS server-name indication (SNI).
- Start the encoder and confirm that the incoming feed appears in Live Control Room preview before making the broadcast public.
Use an encoder that supports the chosen YouTube ingest protocol and output settings. The workflow is similar whether you use a graphical encoder or another server-side encoding application, but exact menus and controls differ by software; no particular encoder or cloud plan is prescribed here.

RTMPS is a practical starting point
For a conventional encoder setup, RTMPS is a sensible starting protocol when your encoder supports it. It provides encrypted transport and uses YouTube’s RTMPS endpoint over port 443. Confirm that your software accepts the endpoint as supplied and establishes TLS correctly; an incorrect hostname or endpoint can prevent connection even when the stream key is valid.
Set codec, bitrate, frame rate, and keyframes
YouTube’s current encoder settings guidance lists H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 video support for RTMP/RTMPS, AAC or MP3 audio, constant bitrate (CBR), and frame rates up to 60 fps. Use settings supported by your encoder and suitable for the source. YouTube recommends a two-second keyframe interval and says it should not exceed four seconds.

Choose the video bitrate from YouTube’s table for your actual resolution and frame rate. For example, YouTube lists 2 Mbps as the recommended video bitrate and 6 Mbps as the maximum for 720p at 30 fps; those figures apply to that row, not to other resolutions or frame rates. Keep additional network capacity available for protocol overhead and variation. YouTube advises choosing a quality the connection can reliably sustain and recommends running a speed test to check upload bitrate.
When HLS or DASH may make sense
YouTube also supports HLS and DASH ingestion. Its ingestion protocol comparison describes these segment-based options as supporting encrypted delivery and advanced codecs, with higher latency than RTMP-oriented options. They can suit higher-resolution or codec-specific workflows when the encoder supports them, but require more setup than simply entering an RTMPS address and key. HLS, in particular, has segment and format requirements; do not treat it as a drop-in RTMPS setting.
Test the full loop before launch
- Configure the encoder with the selected media, ingest endpoint, stream key, codec, frame rate, bitrate, audio, and keyframe interval.
- Start the encoder and wait for the feed to appear in the Live Control Room preview. Check the intended broadcast’s visibility and accessibility before sharing it.
- Listen for clean, continuous audio and inspect the video for stalls, black frames, or unexpected changes. Test with motion and audio representative of the actual relaxation stream, even if its visuals are mostly static.
- Review YouTube’s stream-health messages and adjust settings if the incoming feed is unstable or unhealthy.
- Test restart behavior: confirm that the encoder starts again after a process failure or server reboot, and that the media source does not terminate at the end of a file or playlist.
YouTube recommends setting up the encoder well before going live, previewing the feed, and monitoring audio and video quality. Its encoder guidance explains stream-health checks.

Operate the channel continuously
For a 24/7 feed, monitor both sides of the connection: whether the server’s encoder process is running and whether YouTube reports a healthy incoming stream. Retain enough logs to diagnose disconnects, and configure alerts for process exits or a missing feed. Choose restart behavior deliberately so a temporary failure does not leave the channel offline indefinitely.
YouTube’s LiveStreams API exposes an optional backup ingestion address. If you configure backup ingestion, test actual failover rather than assuming it works: YouTube’s live tips recommend stopping the primary encoder and observing whether playback moves to the backup. A backup adds configuration and operational complexity, so use it when its resilience benefit justifies that cost.
Check rights and archiving before running the loop
Make sure you have rights to stream both the relaxation video and its audio, including any applicable territory, live-streaming, archive, and monetization rights. A track described as royalty-free or purchased is not automatically cleared for every use; confirm the license terms for your specific channel and planned use.

YouTube’s livestream terms refer to the live feed as “Live Content” and explain that an option to archive it as “Archived Content” may be offered. Do not assume a long-running broadcast will always be preserved as one complete video; check YouTube’s current limits and settings for the planned duration before launch.
