OneStream Live documents a cloud workflow for scheduling prerecorded videos as a continuous YouTube stream, but its help page says 24/7 streaming requires Enterprise and is limited to 30 days per stream. Choose based on whether your source is a live encoder signal or uploaded videos you want to play continuously.
What each option does
YouTube Live Control Room: manage an encoder broadcast
In YouTube’s encoder workflow, the encoder sends video to YouTube using the stream URL and stream key. Live Control Room receives the signal, shows a preview, and lets you start the broadcast by selecting Go live. YouTube says encoders may be software or hardware, so dedicated streaming hardware is not inherently required. The process is described in YouTube’s encoder guide.
This is the better fit when you are producing a live signal—for example, from an encoder running on a computer—and want YouTube’s tools to monitor and start that broadcast. Control Room is not, by itself, a cloud playout system for uploaded videos.
OneStream Live: schedule prerecorded video in the cloud
OneStream’s documented 24/7 workflow lets you add prerecorded video from a device, OneStream storage, or cloud storage, connect a YouTube channel, enter stream details, schedule the broadcast, and set its duration in days. Which one should you choose?
Choose Live Control Room when you have a live encoder signal
- Your source is a live production or feed sent by an encoder.
- You want to monitor the incoming preview and manually start the broadcast in YouTube.
- You can keep the encoder and its network connection running for as long as the stream needs to remain live.
Choose OneStream’s 24/7 workflow when you have videos to loop
- Your source is prerecorded video rather than a live camera or encoder feed.
- You want a cloud workflow for scheduling that content on YouTube.
- The Enterprise eligibility requirement and 30-day maximum per stream fit your needs.
For an ongoing channel, the duration distinction matters: OneStream documents a 30-day ceiling per stream, while the cited YouTube guide does not state a maximum continuous duration. Do not treat YouTube’s archive threshold as a stream-length limit.

What the 12-hour archive note means
YouTube’s encoder guide says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That is an archive statement, not a claim that YouTube stops every stream at 12 hours. The cited guidance does not settle the archive outcome at or beyond 12 hours, so if you need a dependable replay, confirm YouTube’s current archive guidance for your stream length and keep your own source recording where appropriate. OneStream plan and price: verify the combination
OneStream’s pricing page lists a $30/month “24-Hours Streams” add-on, while its 24/7 help article says the feature requires Enterprise. The public descriptions do not establish that the add-on alone unlocks the feature, nor how the two requirements combine for every plan or region.
