To make an ASMR YouTube Live stream recover after Windows restarts, configure three separate steps: Windows must launch OBS, OBS must reconnect and send the encoder feed, and YouTube must make the broadcast live. Set up each step, then test a full restart and confirm the result in YouTube Studio; an OBS window opening by itself does not prove viewers can see the stream.
How recovery works
A restart can interrupt the broadcast at several points. Windows may start without launching OBS; OBS may open but fail to connect; or OBS may send video while YouTube still waits for you to click Go live. Treat these as separate checks rather than assuming one autostart setting handles everything.
YouTube’s encoder setup uses a server URL and stream key. YouTube says returning creators may be able to load previous stream settings, including the key. Keep the key private: it is a credential, so do not expose it in screenshots, shared configuration files, or scripts. YouTube’s encoder setup guide explains the connection process.
Set up OBS and the YouTube broadcast

In YouTube Studio, select the scheduled broadcast you intend to use or create one. In OBS, configure the YouTube server URL and stream key for the encoder. If your previous settings are available, check that the correct stream key and broadcast are selected.

In the scheduled broadcast’s settings, check whether Auto-start is enabled. OBS’s YouTube guidance says that when Auto-start is enabled, the broadcast can go live as streaming begins. If it is disabled, starting the encoder feed does not itself make the broadcast live; you may need to click Go live in YouTube Studio.

Decide whether a person will be available to check the broadcast. Automatic start is useful when you want the scheduled event to go live as soon as OBS sends video. If you prefer to inspect the preview before making it live, leave the manual step in your process and plan to be present.
YouTube’s scheduled-stream workflow describes waiting for the preview and then clicking Go live. The precise behavior depends on the broadcast’s settings, so verify the setting on the event you plan to use. See the OBS Project Forums’ YouTube streaming guide and YouTube Help.
Make Windows launch OBS after a restart
Community guidance describes two ways to launch OBS at Windows startup: placing an OBS shortcut in the Startup folder, or creating a Task Scheduler task. They are options to launch the application, not proof that the stream has resumed. Windows account settings and startup timing can affect what happens, so test the option you choose on your own PC.

Neither option guarantees that OBS connects to YouTube or that YouTube makes the broadcast live. Community posts also suggest launching OBS with the --startstreaming argument. This is a community-reported approach, not a currently confirmed official OBS command-line instruction. Before relying on it, check whether it works with your installed OBS version and saved profile, and verify the live result in YouTube Studio. Test the complete restart path

Save the OBS profile and confirm it contains the intended YouTube connection settings. Protect the stream key.

Confirm the correct scheduled broadcast is selected and decide whether YouTube Auto-start is on or whether you will click Go live manually.

Restart Windows deliberately. After sign-in, check whether OBS launched and whether it is sending the stream.

Open YouTube Studio and check the intended broadcast. Confirm that it is actually live, not merely receiving a preview or waiting for a manual action.

If any step fails, note which one: Windows did not launch OBS, OBS did not connect, or YouTube did not make the event live. Troubleshoot that stage rather than changing all settings at once.
A successful application launch is not evidence of a recovered broadcast; the separate encoder and YouTube steps make Studio verification essential.

OBS does not open: Check that the shortcut or scheduled task is configured for the Windows account that signs in after restart. Test launching OBS manually to distinguish a startup-launch problem from an OBS problem.

OBS opens but does not connect: Check the selected OBS profile and YouTube server URL and stream key. If the restart followed a power outage, the PC may have started before the router or other network equipment was ready. An OBS forum poster reported that auto-reconnect may not recover from a failed initial connection in that situation. This is anecdotal, not a universal behavior; test your startup order and consider a delay or retry mechanism only if your setup needs one.

YouTube receives video, but viewers do not see a live event: Check the scheduled broadcast’s Auto-start setting. If it is off, a manual Go live action may still be needed.

The event or archive is unclear after recovery: Inspect the current event and its archive in YouTube Studio. YouTube Help says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived, but that statement does not establish whether a restart preserves the same broadcast or creates a new archive. Do not assume either outcome.
