To capture a website at a 360 × 800 mobile viewport, set the browser viewport to 360 CSS pixels wide by 800 CSS pixels high, then capture either the visible viewport or the full page. For a one-off image, Chrome DevTools is quickest; use Playwright for repeatable or batch captures. These dimensions describe the emulated browser viewport, not necessarily the saved image’s pixel dimensions or a test on a physical phone.
Capture a 360 × 800 screenshot in Chrome DevTools
- Open the website in desktop Chrome and open DevTools.
- Toggle the Device Toolbar.
- Set the device mode to Responsive, then enter 360 for width and 800 for height.
- Wait for the page to finish rendering and for any layout changes or lazy-loaded content to settle.
- Open More options and choose Capture screenshot for the visible viewport. Choose Capture a full size screenshot if you want the page’s scrollable content as well.
Chrome’s Device Mode documentation describes this as a first-order approximation of a mobile experience. It does not reproduce every characteristic of physical phone hardware; use an actual device, such as through remote debugging, when hardware-specific behavior matters.
Automate the capture with Playwright
Set the viewport before navigating so the site’s initial layout is rendered at the intended dimensions. The following Node.js example captures the visible viewport as a PNG:

Capture the whole page
To include content beyond the 800-pixel viewport, enable full-page capture:

Its emulation options can also set properties such as screen dimensions, user agent, and touch behavior. Add those only when the test requires them; setting a viewport alone does not establish how the page behaves on a real handset.

CSS viewport size and image pixel size are different
The 360 × 800 values set the CSS viewport. The saved bitmap can have different pixel dimensions when screenshot scale or device scale is changed. Playwright’s screenshot scale setting controls that relationship: use CSS-pixel scale when the output itself should be 360 × 800 pixels, or device scale when you want output pixels to reflect device scaling. Confirm the resulting image dimensions if an exact bitmap size is a delivery requirement. Choose the right capture for the job

Troubleshooting common 360 × 800 capture problems
The layout does not look like a phone
Check that Device Toolbar is enabled and the mode is Responsive, then confirm the width and height values. In Playwright, create the page with the viewport set before calling goto; changing dimensions after navigation can miss behavior based on the initial viewport.

The screenshot is taller or wider than 360 × 800 pixels
Check whether you selected a full-page capture, which includes content below the viewport. Also check the screenshot scale or device-scale setting: 360 × 800 may describe CSS viewport dimensions rather than output bitmap dimensions.
Images or page elements are missing
Wait for the page to render and for relevant lazy-loaded content to load before capturing. A fixed network-idle wait is not reliable for every site; where needed, wait for a meaningful selector or use an appropriate delay after scrolling content into view.

The emulated result differs from a real phone
Viewport emulation reproduces selected browser and device properties, not every hardware or browser behavior. Validate on the target phone when the difference matters.
