If Pixel 8 is not listed, use custom dimensions and label them as an approximation: Google’s 1080 × 2400 figure is the phone’s physical display resolution, not a confirmed CSS viewport setting.
Choose the kind of screenshot you need
- Viewport screenshot: captures the area currently visible in the emulated phone viewport.
- Full-page screenshot: includes content outside that viewport, including content below the fold.
Chrome’s Device mode simulates a mobile viewport; it is useful for checking responsive layouts, but it is not a substitute for testing behavior that depends on a real phone’s hardware or browser software. Chrome’s Device mode guide describes the available controls and their limits.
Capture the site in Chrome DevTools
- Open the website in desktop Chrome.
- Open DevTools: right-click the page and choose Inspect, or use Chrome’s developer-tools keyboard shortcut for your operating system.
- Turn on the device toolbar using the phone-and-tablet icon in DevTools. In the Dimensions selector, choose Pixel 8 if it is available.
- If Pixel 8 is not available, add a custom device in DevTools Settings > Devices. Enter the viewport width and height you intend to test. Set device pixel ratio (DPR) only if you know the intended value or the test requires it; record your chosen settings as a custom approximation.
- Reload the page or inspect it at the selected dimensions. Check that the layout has adapted as expected.
- In the device toolbar, open More options and choose Capture screenshot for the visible viewport, or Capture a full size screenshot to include the page beyond the viewport.
For a reproducible result, note whether the capture is viewport-only or full-page and record the selected device preset, or the custom width, height, and DPR.
Pixel 8 resolution is not its CSS viewport
Google lists the Pixel 8 display as 6.2 inches, with a 20:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 1080 × 2400 pixels on its US Pixel 8 specifications page. That is the physical display specification. It does not, on its own, establish the CSS viewport dimensions or DPR that Chrome should use for emulation. Chrome explains DPR as the relationship between physical pixels and logical CSS pixels in its Device mode documentation. Do not enter 1080 × 2400 as a CSS viewport simply because it is the listed screen resolution.

When to verify on an actual Pixel 8
Use DevTools for convenient responsive-layout checks. If the result depends on real-device behavior—such as mobile browser software or hardware-specific behavior—check it on a physical Pixel 8. A DevTools screenshot is an emulation, not proof that every detail will match the phone.
Troubleshooting
Pixel 8 does not appear in Dimensions
Device presets depend on the Chrome installation. Add a custom device through DevTools Settings > Devices and record the dimensions and DPR you chose. Describe it as an approximation rather than a verified universal Pixel 8 CSS viewport.

The screenshot has the wrong scope
Capture screenshot saves the currently visible viewport. To include content outside it, use More options > Capture a full size screenshot.
The page layout does not look like a phone
Confirm the device toolbar is enabled and the intended preset or custom dimensions are selected. Reload or inspect the page again at that size. For behavior that emulation cannot establish, verify on a real Pixel 8.

ScreenshotNeo can return a screenshot through one GET request. Its clean-shot steps accept cookie or consent banners like a visitor and remove 60+ known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each step can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and responses identify the page verdict and billing status in headers. Its MCP server offers screenshot tools for AI agents and MCP clients, including Claude and Cursor.
For an approximate Pixel 8-sized viewport, set the viewport parameters supported by the API and label the result as an approximation rather than treating the phone’s physical resolution as a confirmed CSS viewport. See the ScreenshotNeo documentation for request parameters and available options.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to own a Pixel 8 to capture a Pixel 8-sized website screenshot?
No. Chrome DevTools can emulate a mobile viewport. A physical Pixel 8 is needed only when you want to verify real-device behavior.
Does a full-page screenshot show only what would fit on the Pixel 8 screen?
No. It includes page content outside the visible viewport; use the regular screenshot command for just the current screenful.
