Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →To stream an animated fireplace continuously on YouTube Live, loop a video you have permission to broadcast in OBS, send OBS to a YouTube encoder stream using its stream URL and key, then monitor the preview and stream health. The steps below cover the local setup, encoder settings, rights and eligibility checks, and what to do when the broadcast stops.
What you need before you start
- A fireplace video and any audio you own or are licensed to broadcast live on YouTube.
- OBS Studio installed on a computer that can stay on, plus a reliable internet connection with enough upload capacity for your chosen stream settings.
- A YouTube channel eligible to livestream. YouTube says the channel must be verified, have no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days, and the streamer must be at least 16. Check access in your account before preparing the broadcast: YouTube live-streaming eligibility.
First-time live-stream enablement may take up to 24 hours, so enable it and confirm access in YouTube Studio before you plan to go live: Enable live streaming.
Set up a continuous loop in OBS
Loop one fireplace video
- Open OBS and select the scene you want to use. In Sources, choose + and add a Media Source.
- Choose Create New, name the source, and select the fireplace video from your computer.
- Enable Loop in the Media Source properties, then select OK. The video should restart when it reaches the end.
- Adjust the source to fit the canvas. Check the audio mixer and make sure the source’s sound is at an appropriate level—or muted if you intend a silent stream.
Loop a playlist instead
For a sequence of videos, add a VLC Video source, select the files for the playlist, and enable Loop Playlist. OBS’s VLC source requires VLC to be installed. OBS documents both Media Source and VLC Video source options for Windows, macOS, and Linux: OBS media sources.
Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- In YouTube Studio, open Go Live and create or schedule an encoder stream. YouTube’s setup guide explains the encoder workflow: Set up a YouTube live stream.
- In the stream settings, copy the stream URL and stream key. In OBS, open Settings > Stream, choose YouTube as the service, and enter the connection details if OBS does not populate them through account connection.
- Keep the key private. YouTube describes stream keys as the credential that lets an encoder send its feed. If you think yours has been exposed, reset it in Live Control Room: Manage live stream settings.
- Start the stream from OBS, then check the YouTube Live Control Room preview and wait for the feed to appear healthy before making it public or relying on it.
Choose settings that suit the video and connection
There is no single correct bitrate for every fireplace stream. Set resolution and frame rate to match the source, and choose a bitrate your upload connection can sustain reliably. A static scene may use little visual motion, but it does not remove the need to test the actual file and connection.

| Rate control | Use constant bitrate (CBR). |
| Keyframe interval | Use 2 seconds; do not exceed 4 seconds. |
| Video codec | YouTube’s encoder guidance lists H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1. |
| Audio codec | AAC or MP3. |
| Color space | Rec. 709 for SDR. |
These are YouTube’s encoder recommendations; consult its current live encoder settings for the technical guidance applicable to your stream. YouTube transcodes the incoming feed for viewers on different devices and networks, but you should still check the preview and stream-health messages before and during the broadcast.
Test the complete broadcast before leaving it unattended
- Watch the YouTube preview, not just the OBS canvas, to confirm the feed reaches YouTube.
- Let the video reach its end and restart. For a playlist, verify it advances and loops as expected.
- Listen to the stream audio and check for unwanted silence, clipping, or audio that continues after the picture changes.
- Monitor YouTube stream health and confirm the connection remains stable at your selected settings.
- Plan how the computer, OBS, and network will recover after a power loss, software crash, or internet interruption. A local setup depends on those parts remaining available.
YouTube says encoder streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. If preserving the recording matters, plan continuous broadcasting as manageable sessions and confirm the current archive behavior in Studio before relying on it: Archive live streams.

Clear rights for the video and audio
You need the necessary rights to broadcast both the animated fireplace video and every sound in it, including crackling effects and music. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match may replace the broadcast with a placeholder and trigger a warning; unresolved content can lead to a temporary interruption or termination. Even licensed material can be interrupted if its owner has not allowlisted your channel. YouTube’s live-stream terms require creators to hold the rights needed for the content, including music rights where applicable: Copyright issues with live streams and YouTube Terms of Service.
Do not assume a loop will be monetized
Having permission to use a video or track is separate from meeting YouTube’s monetization policies. YouTube applies its policies to live streams and says repetitive or mass-produced content may be ineligible. Its reused-content review also considers whether the creator adds meaningful original commentary, substantial modification, educational value, or entertainment value. A channel built around interchangeable loops may face policy review even when its assets are licensed; no particular fireplace loop is guaranteed to qualify. See YouTube channel monetization policies.

Troubleshoot common interruptions
YouTube does not show the stream
Confirm that live streaming is enabled for the channel, the correct encoder stream is open in Studio, and OBS has the matching stream URL and key. If this is your first activation, allow up to 24 hours for enablement. Reset the key in Live Control Room if it may be compromised.
The fireplace video stops at the end
Open the Media Source properties and verify Loop is enabled. For a VLC playlist, confirm the correct files are selected and Loop Playlist is enabled.

- Enjoy a real wood burning fire (not a gas log imitation)!
- Recorded to provide the highest spectrum of flame color.
- Dolby Digital Sound of the actual wood burning fire snapping and crackling!
- Fill the entire screen of widescreens and standard sized screens! (no annoying letterbox "black bars")
- Easy to loop any of the three phases (beginning, middle, end) or play all three in sequence.
The YouTube preview is unstable or reports poor stream health
Check the upload connection and lower the stream’s resolution, frame rate, or bitrate if the connection cannot sustain the chosen settings. Keep CBR and a 2-second keyframe interval, and retest the full loop in YouTube’s preview.
The stream is interrupted by a copyright warning
Review the warning and identify whether the match is in the video or audio. Do not assume a license prevents interruption; confirm the rights cover live broadcasting and ask the rights holder about channel allowlisting where appropriate.

The computer or network goes offline
A local OBS stream cannot continue sending video while its computer or connection is unavailable. Restore power or connectivity, reopen OBS if needed, and reconnect through Live Control Room. For a stream that must resume without someone at the computer, use a cloud-based option instead.
