To send a Restreamer channel to YouTube Live, configure a working video source and audio track, create a YouTube Publication Service, enter the streaming ID from YouTube, save, and start the service. That publishes a live feed; it does not establish that Restreamer will automatically replay a finite video file from the beginning. The documentation reviewed does not show a native file-loop control, so treat repeating the content and publishing it to YouTube as separate tasks.
What Restreamer’s YouTube setup does—and does not do
Restreamer’s Publication Service sends an existing Restreamer channel to a destination such as YouTube Live. Its documentation describes setting up that destination and controlling the output. It does not document a native control that repeats a finite media file indefinitely. A continuous YouTube feed therefore depends on the source or a separate playout method repeating the content; the steps below configure publication, not that repeat mechanism. Before you create the YouTube publication
Configure a functioning channel and source
Install and start Restreamer, then use its setup wizard to configure the video source. The wizard describes network sources and options such as hardware, Raspberry Pi camera, USB, and SRT. The Quick Start describes Docker-based installation and treats YouTube as an optional publication destination. Follow the instructions for your Restreamer version; names and screens may differ between releases.
Check the audio track
Check the source’s audio settings before saving it. The Restreamer wizard notes that some services, including YouTube, require an active audio channel. If the video has no sound, the vendor recommends configuring a silent audio channel. See the Restreamer wizard documentation.

Obtain the YouTube streaming ID
Use YouTube’s live workflow to obtain the valid streaming ID for the broadcast, then have it ready for Restreamer. YouTube Studio labels and its exact live setup flow can change, so follow the current prompts in your account. The Restreamer guide refers to entering the streaming ID; it does not establish a universal current label or a YouTube account-eligibility rule.
Configure and start the YouTube Publication Service
- Open Publication Service in Restreamer. Select YouTube as the destination.
- Enter the streaming ID. Use the valid ID obtained through YouTube’s live workflow. Take care not to expose the key publicly; anyone with access to a live streaming key may be able to publish to that destination.
- Save the publication. Check the selected destination and ID before saving.
- Start the service. Restreamer’s guide says the outgoing bitrate appears in the main window when connected. Use that indicator as a connection check; it does not confirm that a finite file is looping.

How to make the content repeat
The publication setup only forwards Restreamer’s live channel. To keep a video repeating, the source or a separate playout layer must produce an ongoing feed that repeats the material. The Restreamer pages reviewed do not verify a particular finite-file loop option, playlist behavior, or recommended loop workflow in the UI. Do not assume that creating a YouTube Publication Service makes a recording restart automatically when it ends.
Before relying on a 24/7 loop, confirm that your chosen source or playout system actually repeats the content and maintains a continuous feed into Restreamer. Then test the full path—from the source through Restreamer to YouTube—before treating it as unattended. This distinction matters: a connected publication can be working while the source has stopped or reached the end of a file.

End the stream without disrupting the archive
After an event, end the stream on YouTube first, then stop the Restreamer output. Restreamer’s guide warns that interrupting the stream in Restreamer can mean YouTube does not save it in its DVR archive. The guide’s instruction is: “Always end the stream on YouTube first after an event.” See Restreamer’s YouTube guide.
Troubleshoot the common setup problems
- The publication will not connect: Check that YouTube’s streaming ID is valid and entered in the YouTube Publication Service, then save and start the service. Confirm whether Restreamer shows an outgoing bitrate when connected.
- YouTube rejects or lacks audio: Check the Restreamer source’s audio configuration. If the source is silent, configure a silent audio channel as recommended in the wizard documentation.
- The video plays once and stops: Publication to YouTube does not itself prove that a finite source repeats. Check the source or playout layer for repeat behavior; the reviewed Restreamer documentation does not establish a native file-loop control.
- The YouTube DVR archive is missing: For a completed event, end the stream in YouTube before stopping the Restreamer output, as the vendor guide advises.
