The task must already exist—or be created earlier in the Zap—so you can supply its item ID. Test the file mapping in your own Zapier account before publishing; the integration listings do not guarantee that every screenshot action exposes an upload-compatible file.
What you need before building the Zap
- A trigger that provides the webpage URL to capture.
- A connected monday.com account with Admin or Member permissions for the relevant boards and workspaces, and a monday.com Standard plan or higher, according to Zapier’s monday.com setup guidance.
- A monday.com file column on the task’s board.
- A screenshot action whose output can be mapped as a file in the Zap editor.
Connect monday.com through Zapier’s Apps page and provide the personal access token during the connection process. For board access or connection problems, check the account permissions and plan before changing the Zap.
Build the screenshot-to-task workflow
- Choose a URL-bearing trigger. Use a trigger from the app where the webpage URL originates. One documented example is Zapier’s Chrome extension New Push trigger, which can provide a page title, URL, timestamp, and triggering user. Map the URL field forward to the screenshot step.
- Add a screenshot action. In Zapier, select an action that captures a webpage from a URL. The PagePixels integration lists Take a Screenshot of a Web Page; it requires a Website URL and offers settings such as full-page mode, waits, page size, image format, and quality. The HTML to Image integration lists Convert URL to Image (Screenshot a Website); it requires a Webpage URL and offers full-page capture, wait seconds, image quality, and a generated image URL. Choose a URL field from your trigger and configure the capture options your workflow needs.
- Identify or create the monday.com item. If the task already exists, provide its item ID to the upload action. Otherwise, add monday.com’s Create Item action before the upload step; map the board, group if needed, and item name. Use the created item’s returned identifier in the next step.
- Upload the screenshot to the task. Add monday.com’s Upload File to Specific Column action. Map the board ID, item ID, file column, screenshot file, and a descriptive file name. If your screenshot step outputs a generated image URL rather than a file, confirm that Zapier exposes it in a form the upload step accepts; a URL is not necessarily interchangeable with a file input.
- Test the full path, then publish. Run the Zap with a sample URL and task. Open the resulting monday.com item and confirm that the screenshot appears in the intended file column. Review the test output and mapping before publishing, following monday.com’s guide to creating an integration using Zapier.
Choose a screenshot action and verify its output
Both of these actions are listed in Zapier integrations. The available documentation establishes their input fields and options, not comparative image quality, service limits, pricing, or successful file upload in every account. The practical deciding factor is whether the action’s output in your Zap can be mapped into monday.com’s file input.

Common setup problems
- The monday.com connection cannot access the board. Check that the connected account has Admin or Member permissions for the relevant board and workspace, and meets Zapier’s stated Standard-plan-or-higher requirement.
- The upload step has no item ID. Ensure the task exists before the upload step. If the Zap creates it, map the identifier returned by Create Item, not the item name.
- The file field is empty or rejects the screenshot output. Reopen the screenshot step’s test data and inspect its available fields. Map a file-compatible output to the upload action’s file input. If the screenshot action returns only a generated URL, test whether that account’s Zapier upload action accepts it; the listings do not guarantee this mapping.
- The screenshot is on the wrong task or column. Check the board ID, item ID, and file-column selection together, then run another test against a sample item.
- The capture misses content loaded later. Use the screenshot action’s wait controls where available, or select full-page capture if you need content below the initial viewport. Test on the actual target page; the listed options alone do not guarantee a particular page’s content will load in time.
When a link is enough instead of an image
If the task only needs a reference to the page, skip screenshot generation and file upload. Zapier’s Chrome extension New Push trigger can provide the page title and URL, as well as timestamp and triggering user, for a monday.com Create Item action. This records a link and metadata; it does not attach a screenshot.
Or skip the browser setup

Yes. Put monday.com’s Create Item action before Upload File to Specific Column, then use the created item’s identifier in the upload step.
Does the generated image URL from HTML to Image always work as the monday.com file input?
That is not established by the integration listing. Test the output-to-file mapping in your Zapier account before relying on it.
