Process bulk screenshot jobs through a queue, and pace new requests using the API provider’s live allowance and reset information. When the provider refuses work, distinguish a short-window request limit from a plan quota ceiling: the first may clear after a reset; the second usually needs a plan or limit change. Error codes and response formats differ by provider, so implement the behavior your API documents rather than assuming every limit returns HTTP 429.
Why bulk screenshot jobs hit rate limits
A bulk endpoint is a convenient way to submit many URLs, not necessarily a way to bypass per-request limits. ScreenshotOne says its bulk endpoint consumes the same one-minute request bucket as regular screenshot requests. The provider also distinguishes submitting a bulk request from rendering all its screenshots: bulk requests are lazy-loaded by default, so a screenshot is taken when its result URL is downloaded. With execute: true, requests are executed before the bulk response, which means the caller should allow enough time for that work. ScreenshotOne bulk documentation
Those distinctions affect both pacing and job state. A successful outer bulk call does not necessarily mean every capture succeeded: ScreenshotOne’s executed bulk response includes a status and error details for each request. Track outcomes per URL rather than marking the entire batch complete based on the envelope alone.
Build a queue that respects the provider’s allowance
- Record each job. Store the URL, capture options, a stable job ID, attempt count, and current state. Keep items that have not started separate from completed results.
- Read live usage before draining the queue. For ScreenshotOne, consult the usage endpoint and use
concurrency.remainingto cap the number of starts in the current bucket. Useconcurrency.resetto determine when to resume. These fields describe starts available in a one-minute request bucket, not the number of renders currently active. ScreenshotOne usage documentation - Start only what the allowance permits. Do not launch more new requests than the reported remaining capacity. If the allowance is empty, leave work queued until the reset rather than repeatedly submitting it.
- Record each item’s result. Save success or failure details for every capture so that a retry targets only the jobs that need another attempt.
- Classify the refusal before retrying. A short-window concurrency error calls for waiting until the documented reset. A plan quota error calls for pausing the job and resolving the account’s plan or allowed-limit configuration.
ScreenshotOne’s guide says an in-process queue with retry and backoff is enough for a starter implementation; that is vendor implementation guidance, not a universal performance guarantee. For durable jobs or multiple workers, its guide names Redis/BullMQ and SQS as options. A shared queue helps workers coordinate against the same allowance instead of each independently consuming it. Tell a short-window limit from a plan quota
| Condition | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
concurrency_limit_reached |
ScreenshotOne says no requests remain in the current one-minute bucket. | Keep affected jobs queued and retry after the time in concurrency.reset. |
screenshots_limit_reached |
The plan’s usage quota has been exceeded. | Pause retries and resolve the plan or allowed-limit configuration. Waiting for the short bucket to reset does not resolve a plan quota ceiling. |
ScreenshotOne documents its concurrency exhaustion as an HTTP 400 response with a structured concurrency_limit_reached code. Urlbox documents HTTP 429 for too many requests or a rate limit reached. Handle the response shape documented by the provider you use rather than treating 429 as universal. ScreenshotOne error documentation · Urlbox API documentation
Retry only failures that may clear
ScreenshotOne says its API does not automatically retry requests, so retry ownership belongs in the client or job system. Its options documentation also says failed requests are not counted against rendering quota. ScreenshotOne options documentation

- Capacity Display Variance: 500GB external ssd often appears as around 465GB on Windows. MacOS can show full 500 GB capacity. This is binary calculation difference and doesn’t affect SSD hard drive actual physical storage

- Data Security: Solid state drives S.M.A.R.T. health diagnostics and adaptive TRIM optimizing data block management ensures consistent write speeds and extends the longevity of the portable SSD
- USB-C & USB-A Cable: Both cables featuring rapid USB 3.2 Gen2, this USB SSD effortlessly bridges devices, enabling seamless cross-platform file transfers and backup between computers, smartphones, tablets and iPhone
- Always Fast: No slowdowns for large file transfers. With SLC caching (25% of current available capacity allocated as high-speed cache), this external SSD delivers steady 10Gbps for transfers within the cache capacity
- For a concurrency refusal: wait for the supplied reset time, then retry the queued item. Avoid tight immediate retries; they encounter the same empty bucket.
- For plan quota exhaustion: pause the affected work and address the plan or allowed-limit setting instead of retrying every minute.
- For transient failures: use bounded retries with backoff, recording attempts and the final result. Set a maximum attempt count so a persistently failing URL cannot loop indefinitely.
- For target-site failures: classify them separately from provider throttling. A failed page load or target response may need different handling from a request the screenshot provider refused for rate reasons.
If you use ScreenshotOne’s bulk optimization option, note that it applies only with execute: true and is not guaranteed, particularly when a page needs to reload. Measure its effect with the sites and capture options in your own workload rather than assuming it will improve every batch. ScreenshotOne bulk documentation
Operational checks and troubleshooting
- The same items keep receiving concurrency errors: the queue may be retrying before the reset, or multiple workers may be spending the same allowance independently. Schedule the next attempt from the provider’s reset data and coordinate workers through shared queue state.
- Retries continue after the reset but fail with a quota error: this is not a short-window throttle. Pause the job and resolve the plan or allowed-limit configuration.
- A bulk call reports success but some images are missing: inspect per-item statuses and errors in the executed bulk response. Do not equate acceptance of the outer request with successful completion of every capture.
- The bulk response arrives before captures are ready: ScreenshotOne bulk requests are lazy-loaded by default. Use
execute: truewhen execution before the bulk response is required, and allow time for it. - Your handler only recognizes HTTP 429: add the provider’s documented structured error codes and status behavior. ScreenshotOne’s documented concurrency error is HTTP 400; Urlbox documents HTTP 429 for rate limiting.
- Failures consume less quota than expected: ScreenshotOne says failed requests are not counted against rendering quota, but still record them and apply bounded retries so persistent target failures do not create unnecessary work.

Does a bulk screenshot endpoint bypass a provider’s rate limit?
Not necessarily. ScreenshotOne says its bulk endpoint shares the same one-minute request bucket as regular screenshot requests.
