While a broadcast is live, DVR may let you pause and rewind, but it is not a control for replaying the entire stream. To keep a replay chapter-free, the channel owner must remove manual timestamp chapters and turn off automatic chapters in YouTube Studio; viewers do not have a documented setting to hide chapters on someone else’s video.
Loop a published YouTube Live replay
A live broadcast and its replay are different playback states. YouTube’s Loop feature repeats a video or playlist. It applies to a published replay once the channel has made that replay available as a video; it does not turn a live broadcast into a whole-stream loop.

- Open the channel’s archived live-stream replay, if one has been published and is available to you.
- On a computer, right-click inside the video player and select Loop.
- On a phone, TV, or gaming console, look for the repeat control in that device’s YouTube interface. Its location and exact appearance can vary.
If no replay appears on the channel, the creator may not have published one. A channel may post a replay or highlights after a live event, but publication is not guaranteed.
What you can do while the stream is still live
If DVR is enabled and available for the broadcast, you can pause or rewind within the available live window. When you resume, playback continues from where you paused. This is not documented as a way to repeat the entire broadcast, and you cannot seek to a point before the stream began.

DVR can be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours. YouTube also notes lower limits for Apple TV, Apple AirPlay, and older versions of the YouTube app. A change to a stream’s DVR setting during the event applies only to viewers who start watching after that change.
Turn off chapters on a replay you own
Chapter-free playback requires checking both manually added chapters and YouTube’s automatic-chapter setting. Manual timestamp chapters in the description take precedence over automatic chapters, so disabling automatic chapters alone may not remove chapters that the creator entered.

- In YouTube Studio, open Content, select the live-stream replay, and open its details.
- Review the description. Remove any chapter timestamp-and-title list if you do not want manual chapters.
- Expand Show more, find Automatic Chapters, and clear Allow automatic chapters.
- Save the changes.
Automatic chapters are allowed by default for new uploads, but YouTube does not generate them for every video, and not all videos are eligible. Interface labels may change as YouTube updates Studio.
Live broadcast versus published replay
| Playback state | Viewer option | Limit | Who controls chapters? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Live now | Pause or rewind with DVR, if available | Availability and rewind window are conditional; viewers cannot go before the stream’s start, and DVR is not a whole-stream repeat control. | The creator controls settings; the reviewed YouTube guidance does not describe a viewer chapter-hiding control. |
| Replay published as a video | Use Loop to repeat the video | The replay must exist and be available on the channel. | The creator can remove manual chapters and disable automatic chapters. |
If the replay is missing
YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. Even when an archive exists, the channel may choose whether to publish a replay or highlights. Creators who need their own backup should also record locally; that is separate from a viewer’s ability to loop a replay already on YouTube.

Or let it run in the cloud
If you are a creator who wants uploaded videos to keep a YouTube channel live around the clock, StreamNeo runs the loop from the cloud rather than requiring a computer, OBS, or home connection to stay on. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. This is for streaming uploaded videos to YouTube; it does not change chapters on a replay that is already published.
