One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchTo capture an entire web page without losing Devanagari characters, use a browser’s full-page screenshot feature and make sure the page’s intended font has finished loading before you capture. Full-page capture handles the page length; waiting for the font and checking the saved image helps prevent blank text, fallback glyphs, or missing content.
Why Devanagari can look wrong in a screenshot
A screenshot can cover the entire document yet still show the wrong text. Pages may use a web font that has not loaded when the capture begins, or the browser may render a system fallback without the glyphs or appearance the page expects. Google’s font-loading guidance describes browser-specific behavior, including Chrome leaving text that uses a web font blank until the font loads.
There are therefore two separate things to verify: that the capture includes the full page, and that the page has rendered its intended Devanagari font and content. A completed navigation event alone does not prove either one.
Choose a capture method
For a one-off screenshot
A browser’s built-in capture capability may be enough when you only need one image. Browser interfaces differ, and the sources available here do not establish a verified, current manual procedure for a specific browser, so use the full-page option in your browser if present and check the resulting image. If you need repeatable results, control over the browser and viewport, or a batch of screenshots, scripted automation is a better fit.

Puppeteer and Playwright both support browser screenshot workflows. Puppeteer documents full-page visual snapshots and browser automation; Playwright’s Page API documents a screenshot method and saving an image to a file. The cited documentation does not establish a performance winner, so choose based on the browser stack and APIs already used by your project.
Chrome for Developers describes Puppeteer as a JavaScript library for browser automation and says: “Use it to automate anything in the browser, from taking screenshots and generating PDFs to navigating through and testing complex UIs and analysing performance.” See the Puppeteer documentation and Playwright Page API.

Prepare the page and font
- Fix the capture environment. Open the page in the target browser and operating system. For results that must be reproducible, record the browser, OS, viewport dimensions, and relevant font setup.
- Check Devanagari glyph coverage. Confirm the page requests a font that covers the Devanagari script, or that the browser’s system fallback is appropriate. Google Fonts documents stylesheet integration and script subset controls in its getting-started guide.
- Wait for page content and fonts. Allow navigation and the relevant content to settle, then verify the intended font is ready before capturing. A navigation event completing does not mean the web font has loaded. Pages that populate sections or images dynamically may need additional waiting as well.
- Capture the full page. Use the automation library’s full-page screenshot facility, or the browser’s full-page option for a manual capture. Puppeteer documents full-page capture in its screenshot guidance; Playwright provides a Page screenshot method.
- Inspect the saved file. Check the top, middle, and bottom of the image. Look closely at conjuncts, vowel marks, headline strokes, punctuation, and dynamically loaded sections. Do not treat a successful file save as proof that the text rendered correctly.
Account for operating-system font differences
Font fallback can vary by platform. A Chromium source change dated March 4, 2026, lists Noto Sans Devanagari as the standard and sans-serif default on Linux and ChromeOS, and Noto Serif Devanagari for serif; it lists different defaults for Windows and macOS. These are implementation defaults in that source change, not a guarantee for every browser build or machine. If matching a reference image matters, specify or verify the actual font and record the OS and browser rather than relying on defaults. See the Chromium change.
Or skip the browser setup
ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. One GET request can return a screenshot or PDF; its capture options include full-page screenshots, and you can use custom JavaScript or waiting options when a page needs extra time to render. For example, this cURL request saves a WebP capture of a target page. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for options and response details.

Troubleshoot missing or incorrect Devanagari text
- Text is blank: the web font may not have loaded when capture began. Wait for the intended font and content, then capture again. Chrome’s documented behavior can leave web-font text blank while loading.
- Letters appear, but their shape or spacing is wrong: check whether the page’s requested font includes Devanagari glyphs and whether the browser substituted a system font. Verify the actual font on the target OS instead of assuming fallback is identical across platforms.
- The image stops before the end of the page: confirm that you used a full-page capture method rather than a viewport-only screenshot. For scripted capture, consult the relevant library’s screenshot API and check that the saved file includes the lower sections.
- Some sections or images are missing: the page may still be loading content dynamically. Wait for the relevant content to appear before capture, then inspect the saved image, especially at the bottom.
- The result changes between machines: record the OS, browser, viewport, and font configuration. Chromium’s listed platform defaults differ, and its source change does not guarantee identical defaults across every build.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a full-page screenshot guarantee that Devanagari fonts have loaded?
No. Full-page capture concerns image coverage, not font readiness. Wait for the intended font and inspect the saved image.
Which is faster, Puppeteer or Playwright for this capture?
The cited documentation does not establish a performance winner. Choose the library that fits your existing browser automation stack.
