If your Livepush stream shows offline in YouTube Studio, first check whether Livepush is receiving video from your encoder. If it is, check that the YouTube destination is enabled and attached to the right event; then verify the stream key, YouTube event status, encoder health, and network connection. The offline label alone does not identify which link failed.
Trace the stream from encoder to YouTube
Think of the setup as a chain: encoder → Livepush ingest → configured YouTube destination → YouTube live event. Check each link in that order. If the feed has not reached Livepush, changing YouTube settings will not fix the upstream problem.
1. Check whether Livepush receives the encoder feed
Open the Livepush stream dashboard and inspect the incoming-stream status, video preview, and health-monitor graph showing bytes received from the encoder. The dashboard also lists bitrate, FPS, keyframe interval, resolution, codecs, and uptime. These indicators help locate the break in the chain; they do not, by themselves, establish that YouTube is receiving the stream.
- Livepush shows offline or no incoming data: Confirm the encoder is running and configured with the correct Livepush ingest settings. Resolve this encoder-to-Livepush connection before troubleshooting the YouTube destination.
- Livepush shows incoming data: Continue to the destination and event checks. A visible feed in Livepush does not prove the destination is enabled or that YouTube has started the event.
Livepush’s dashboard guide, dated January 16, 2023, describes these indicators; dashboard labels may have changed since then. Livepush stream dashboard guide.

2. Confirm the YouTube destination is selected and enabled
In Livepush, check that the destination points to the intended YouTube channel and event, and that its switch is on. For a linked-account destination, Livepush’s setup guide says to select the channel, choose “New Live Event” when creating an event, save the destination, and enable its switch to begin sending.
If the wrong channel or event is selected, or the destination is off, correct that before changing encoder settings. Livepush guide to setting up a YouTube destination (dated January 25, 2025).

3. If you use manual RTMP, verify the event and stream key
Manual RTMP requires a YouTube event’s stream key to be entered in the Livepush destination. Check that the destination uses the key for the intended, current event, then save it and enable the destination. This method requires configuration for each event and does not provide Livepush multi-chat comments.
- In YouTube Live Control Room, create or select the event you intend to stream.
- Copy that event’s RTMP stream key and enter it in the Livepush destination.
- Save the destination and switch it on.
- If the key may be incorrect or stale, get a new one in Live Control Room and update the Livepush destination.
Treat the stream key like a password: do not share it or publish screenshots that reveal it. Livepush manual RTMP guide (dated January 25, 2025) and YouTube live-stream troubleshooting.

Linked account or manual RTMP?
| Connection path | What to check | Practical distinction |
|---|---|---|
| Linked account | Select the YouTube channel and event in Livepush, save the destination, and enable it. | Uses account authorization and channel/event selection in Livepush. |
| Manual RTMP | Copy the event’s stream key from YouTube into the Livepush destination, save, and enable it. | Requires setup for each event and does not provide Livepush multi-chat comments. |
Neither path is established as more reliable. Choose according to whether you prefer account linking or per-event key entry and whether Livepush multi-chat comments matter to you.
4. Make sure YouTube is ready and the event has started
First-time live streaming enablement on YouTube can take up to 24 hours. If you have only just enabled live streaming, allow for that activation period before treating the offline status as a Livepush fault.

5. Check encoder output and YouTube health messages
If Livepush is receiving the feed and its destination is enabled, inspect the encoder and YouTube Live Control Room for errors. YouTube recommends using the latest encoder version, checking that audio and video are being output, reviewing live-dashboard errors, and checking encoder CPU load. If local output appears healthy but delivery still fails, YouTube suggests trying another encoder as a diagnostic.

YouTube’s Live Streaming API uses the stream statuses active, created, error, inactive, and ready. A health message can point to a configuration issue; official examples include a stream that is not using a closed GOP or insufficient incoming video for smooth streaming. Read the actual message rather than assuming every offline symptom has the same cause.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.6. Test the outbound internet connection if local output looks healthy
YouTube identifies outbound connection trouble as a possible cause when the encoder’s output looks and sounds healthy. Test the connection and contact your internet provider if you find a problem. If Wi-Fi instability is suspected, a wired Ethernet connection is a reasonable diagnostic test; a cable will not correct a wrong key, disabled destination, event authorization issue, or encoder error.
7. Contact the support team that owns the failing link
- Livepush receives no feed: Recheck the encoder’s Livepush ingest configuration and encoder status.
- Livepush setup or destination issue: Use Livepush’s live chat for help with its setup steps.
- Third-party software signs in without a stream key: YouTube says to contact that software provider, which may need to update compatibility.
- YouTube event or health error: Follow the message in Live Control Room and YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance.
