You can change a Livepush broadcast’s title from the Livepush dashboard if its YouTube destination is connected through a linked YouTube account; Livepush says the update can be pushed while the broadcast is live without interrupting it. The reviewed Livepush guidance does not document thumbnail editing. For a thumbnail, use YouTube Studio’s controls for the specific broadcast when they are available, then check the public watch page.
Change the title in Livepush
Livepush’s managed title feature requires a linked YouTube account. A destination configured only with a stream key can carry the video feed, but Livepush says it cannot use that destination to manage the title.
- Open the broadcast or destination. In the Livepush dashboard, select the relevant live stream or its YouTube destination.
- Check the connection type. Confirm that the destination is linked to your YouTube account, rather than configured only with a stream key. Livepush explains the distinction in its title feature information and linked-account feature explanation.
- Edit and apply the title. Change the title in the dashboard and save or apply it. Livepush says title changes are pushed to linked platforms without interrupting the broadcast, including during a live stream.
- Verify the result. Open the YouTube broadcast’s public watch page and confirm that the displayed title changed. A saved dashboard value is not a substitute for checking what viewers see.
If you are setting up a destination rather than editing one, Livepush’s YouTube destination setup guide describes adding a YouTube destination, linking a Google/YouTube account, selecting a channel and “New Live Event,” entering the title and description, choosing privacy, and saving.
Change the thumbnail in YouTube Studio
The reviewed Livepush materials do not establish a Livepush thumbnail-editing workflow. Use YouTube Studio instead, if the selected live video exposes thumbnail controls. YouTube’s custom thumbnail instructions describe this general video workflow:

- Sign in to YouTube Studio.
- Open Content and select the exact broadcast or video.
- Under Thumbnail, upload an image or choose a suggested image if that option is available.
- Save, then check the broadcast’s public watch page to confirm the thumbnail displayed to viewers.
YouTube says a verified account is required to use a custom thumbnail. Its instructions cover video thumbnail editing; they do not guarantee that every live event or broadcast state will expose identical controls. If you cannot find the thumbnail control for the selected broadcast, the documented workflow does not establish another Livepush route.
What the stream key does—and does not do
A stream key connects an encoder’s video feed to YouTube. It is not a title or thumbnail setting. Livepush says a stream-key-only destination can carry video but does not provide its managed title controls; changing or resetting the key is therefore not a way to edit viewer-facing metadata.

YouTube’s encoder instructions cover scheduling and feed setup in Live Control Room. YouTube’s live metadata settings guidance describes editing metadata for supported encoder or mobile streams and excludes webcam streams. Its webcam guidance says webcam stream settings can be edited while live or while not live. The available controls therefore depend on how the event was created; select the right event and confirm the saved public result rather than assuming every stream type has the same interface.
Choose the right route
| Route | Best suited to | Requirement or limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Livepush dashboard | Changing a title through Livepush, including during a live broadcast, and pushing it to linked platforms. | Requires a linked YouTube account. The reviewed Livepush sources do not document thumbnail editing. |
| YouTube Studio or Live Control Room | Editing directly in YouTube and checking the event’s platform-side controls. | Available fields depend on the stream type and event state. Custom thumbnail use requires account verification, and the control must be available for the selected video. |
Troubleshooting title and thumbnail changes
- The title option is unavailable in Livepush: Check whether the YouTube destination is linked to an authenticated account. A stream-key-only destination does not provide Livepush’s managed title updates.
- The title saved but viewers still see the old one: Open the public YouTube watch page and verify the result. If it has not changed, check that you edited the correct destination or event and applied the change.
- You cannot find a thumbnail control: In YouTube Studio, select the exact live video under Content. Controls vary with the stream setup and state; the documented custom-thumbnail workflow does not promise the control for every live event.
- YouTube will not accept a custom thumbnail: Confirm that the account is verified, as required by YouTube’s custom thumbnail guidance.
- You are considering changing the stream key: Do not rotate it to change the title or thumbnail. It is for the encoder feed, not viewer-facing metadata.
Or let it run in the cloud
For a separate need—keeping uploaded videos playing as a 24/7 YouTube stream—StreamNeo runs the stream from the cloud rather than from a computer at home. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It does not go live from a camera.
