You can schedule a Restream pre-recorded video to start automatically on YouTube: create a pre-recorded event, choose the video, set its date and time, select YouTube, and create the event. But “restart” can mean two different things. Restream documents replaying a video a finite number of times within one broadcast; its documentation does not confirm that a completed event automatically creates a fresh broadcast on a recurring schedule.
Choose the right kind of restart

Restream’s Help Center says a scheduled pre-recorded event will “automatically air at the scheduled time.” That describes the scheduled start—not an automatic restart after the event has finished. Read Restream’s scheduling instructions.
Schedule a pre-recorded video on YouTube
- In Restream, choose New Stream, then Pre-recorded livestream and Video.
- Select a video already in your account or upload a recording.
- Enter the event title and description, then set the date and time. If you want a finite replay, set a loop count only if your account has access to that feature.
- Optionally create an event post in advance and add a thumbnail.
- Select your YouTube channel and create the event.
- At the scheduled time, the event should air without you manually going live. You can open it in Restream to monitor the stream and chat.
YouTube live streaming must be enabled for the channel. Restream says first-time activation requires phone verification and a 24-hour wait. Check this before relying on a scheduled start. Restream’s YouTube live-streaming guide.
Restream says pre-recorded video streaming is available to all users, while storage, file size, looping, and playlist access can depend on plan or add-on eligibility. Replay one video or combine several recordings
Repeat one video in a single broadcast
Use Restream’s loop setting when you want a recording to play again before the same broadcast ends. Restream’s loop documentation, dated March 11, 2026, states a limit of up to 10 loops and a 40-hour maximum for a looped stream. These are limits for one stream, not a guarantee that Restream will create another YouTube event when it ends. How to loop a video.
Schedule a playlist
A playlist can put several recordings into one scheduled broadcast. Restream’s playlist guide, dated July 25, 2026, gives a maximum duration of 24 hours and up to 40 video entries. Playlists do not have a loop control, but you can repeat a video by adding duplicate entries while staying within the entry limit. A playlist cannot be blended with live content. If you schedule playlists back-to-back, Restream describes them as separate streams with a two-minute gap between them—not as one continuous event. Playlist guide.
Connect an existing YouTube Live event instead
If you already created the YouTube event and need to keep it, connect it to Restream rather than creating a new event there. For the custom RTMP route, Restream’s instructions say to copy the event’s stream URL and key, turn on YouTube’s auto-start and auto-stop controls, and add the RTMP destination in Restream. With auto-start off, you must manually click Go Live on YouTube after Restream begins sending the stream. With auto-stop off, you must manually end the event on YouTube. Restream says its API integration is available to all users; custom RTMP channels require a paid Restream plan and do not support Restream Chat and Analytics. Check YouTube readiness and replay expectations
- Enable live streaming early: if this is the channel’s first live stream, allow for the phone verification and 24-hour activation period Restream describes. YouTube live-streaming guide.
- Confirm the event time and destination: verify the date, time, and selected YouTube channel before creating the event.
- Check rights to the recording: scheduling a video does not establish that you have permission to stream its music, footage, or other material. Use content you own or are authorized to broadcast, and review YouTube’s applicable copyright rules.
- Do not assume the full replay will be archived: Restream’s YouTube guide says YouTube archives streams under 12 hours. For a longer broadcast, do not rely on YouTube’s archive to preserve the whole stream. YouTube live-streaming guide.
Troubleshoot a scheduled stream that does not start or repeat
- The scheduled event does not air: confirm that YouTube live streaming is enabled, the event has the correct date and time, and the intended YouTube channel is selected. If activation is new, the documented 24-hour wait may not have elapsed.
- Restream sends video but YouTube waits for you to start: for an existing event connected through the described route, check that YouTube auto-start is enabled. Otherwise, click Go Live on YouTube after the incoming stream begins.
- The broadcast ends but does not start again: a loop repeats a video within one event; it does not establish that a new event will be created. Schedule another event or ask Restream support to confirm whether a current recurring-event feature meets your needs.
- The loop or playlist option is unavailable: check current plan and add-on eligibility. Restream documents tier restrictions for looping and playlist features; availability can change.
- The playlist stops after its items: playlists do not have a loop control. Add duplicate entries, up to the 40-entry limit, if you want clips repeated within that playlist.
- The archived YouTube replay is incomplete or missing: compare the broadcast duration with Restream’s stated under-12-hour archiving caveat for YouTube.
