To show a BharatPe or PhonePe QR code during a YouTube live stream, get the current receiving QR from the relevant provider account, add its image as an overlay in your streaming encoder, then check the stream preview on another device before going live. The providers’ official material supports the payment capabilities described below, while YouTube documents encoder streaming and overlays; none of those sources gives QR-specific setup steps or confirms that YouTube has approved every payment QR overlay.
Choose the QR for the account you want viewers to pay
Use a QR that directs payment to the intended receiving account. BharatPe’s merchant app listing says its merchant QR accepts payments from PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytm, BHIM, Amazon UPI, and more than 150 other banking apps (BharatPe app listing). This is BharatPe’s stated capability, not a guarantee that every QR, account, or transaction will work with every app.
PhonePe’s terms describe using a VPA to make payments at merchant locations by scanning a QR in the PhonePe app (PhonePe terms). The terms do not say that only PhonePe can scan such a QR. They also do not establish comparative fees, settlement speed, or features for creators receiving payments through a livestream.
Get the current receiving QR from the relevant provider’s official merchant app or account. The available official sources do not establish the current screens or menu names for exporting a QR, so follow the options currently shown in your account rather than relying on an outdated walkthrough.

Add the QR as an encoder overlay
YouTube identifies encoders as a livestreaming method commonly used for streams with overlays and hardware (YouTube Help: ways to stream). The steps below describe a general encoder workflow; the exact controls vary by encoder.
- Prepare the QR image. Save or otherwise make available the current QR image from the provider account. Confirm it belongs to the intended receiving account before using it.
- Add it as an image source. In your encoder, add the image or media source to the scene you plan to stream. YouTube’s overlay guidance describes adding a browser source for a YouTube break overlay, but does not document payment QR overlays specifically (YouTube Help: add a break overlay).
- Position and size it. Place the QR where it does not cover faces, captions, important text, or other essential stream content. Make it large and unobstructed enough to scan on the devices your viewers are likely to use. Readability at the intended display size is a practical check, not a result guaranteed by either provider.
- Check the outgoing preview on another device. Start the encoder preview or an unlisted/private test if appropriate, then view the picture on a separate phone or screen. Confirm that the QR is visible, not clipped or hidden by other graphics, and identifies the intended payee. Test scanning only in a way that does not accidentally send a payment.
- Go live and monitor the picture. Confirm the overlay remains present in the actual stream output, not only in the encoder workspace. If you change scenes, verify that the QR appears only where you intend.
Make the payment request safe and clear
- Identify whose account receives payments, and make clear that paying is optional.
- Never ask viewers to share a UPI PIN, OTP, password, or banking credentials. A QR is for initiating a payment; those secrets must not be disclosed to a streamer.
- Keep the image current. If the receiving account or QR changes, replace the overlay and verify the new payee before streaming.
- Do not claim that YouTube specifically approves payment QR overlays. YouTube’s external-links policy applies to livestreams and prohibits links to prohibited destinations, including phishing sites; it does not expressly decide the status of every ordinary payment QR displayed on screen (YouTube Help: external links policy).
Account for horizontal and vertical viewing
A QR displayed in the video is different from a clickable link in live chat. YouTube says links in live chat are clickable for horizontal livestreams, but are non-clickable in the vertical live feed when viewed in the mobile app (YouTube Help: links in live chat). Viewers may therefore need to use another device to scan a QR shown on their phone. Check the composition in the format you plan to stream, and avoid placing the QR where the vertical crop or interface obscures it.

- Double-Sided: The stand stands vertically, and the content can be displayed on both sides. You can see your important content from multiple angles, which greatly enhances the display effect of your content.
- Thickened Material: Each double-sided sign stand has a 9mm thick base, which provides excellent support, so your stand can stand firmly on any flat surface.
- High Transparent Material: Our sign stands are made of beautiful transparent acrylic, similar to glass, with excellent display effects. Due to the high transparency, the product is fragile, so please be careful when using it.
- Triangular Groove Stable Design: The panel triangular structure fits perfectly with the base triangular groove and stands stably.
- Multiple Applications: Acrylic sign stands are suitable for restaurant menus, offices, weddings, promotions, exhibitions, receptions, hotels, bars, etc. They can display advertisements, menus, flyers and brochures on both sides.
Consider YouTube’s built-in earning options
YouTube lists ads, Super Chat and Super Stickers, and channel memberships as ways to earn on live streams, depending on channel eligibility and settings (YouTube Help: earn money from live streams). These are YouTube-native options, not the same as a direct UPI payment. Check your channel’s current eligibility and settings before relying on them.
Troubleshoot a QR viewers cannot use
- The QR is hard to scan: Enlarge it, remove nearby visual clutter, and check it from a separate device at the size viewers will see. Reposition it if cropping or interface elements cover any part.
- The scan opens the wrong payment destination: Stop displaying the code, retrieve the current QR from the intended provider account, and verify the payee before restoring the overlay.
- The QR disappears after a scene change: Add the image source to each scene where it should appear, or use the encoder’s scene or source arrangement so the overlay is included in the intended output.
- A viewer cannot click a chat link: Check whether they are watching the vertical live feed in the YouTube mobile app; YouTube says links there are not clickable. A QR shown clearly in the video is a separate route, but it still needs to be scannable on the viewer’s device.
