There is no fixed monthly total: a 24/7 meditation stream’s data use depends on the bitrate YouTube actually delivers to the viewer. As a useful conversion, a steady 1 Mbps uses about 10.8 decimal GB in 24 hours, or 324 decimal GB in 30 days. That is a calculation, not a measurement of a particular stream.
Estimate the stream’s data use
Use the average playback bitrate, if you can measure it, rather than the stream’s subject or its upload settings:
- Per day: bitrate in Mbps × 10.8 ≈ decimal GB.
- Per 30-day month: bitrate in Mbps × 324 ≈ decimal GB.
For example, if playback averages 1 Mbps continuously, the arithmetic gives about 10.8 GB per day and 324 GB over 30 days. These figures use decimal gigabytes and assume a steady rate for all 24 hours. A network meter may show a different total because of protocol overhead, interruptions, buffering, other household use, or a binary rather than decimal unit convention.
Why the actual amount varies
YouTube changes playback quality
YouTube may adjust video quality to viewing conditions, and viewers can also select a quality manually. Consequently, the same livestream can use different amounts for different viewers or sessions. Connection-speed recommendations are not bitrate figures
YouTube publishes recommended sustained connection speeds by resolution: 0.7 Mbps for 360p, 1.1 Mbps for 480p, 2.5 Mbps for 720p, 5 Mbps for 1080p, and 20 Mbps for 4K. These are connection-speed recommendations, not the viewer’s video bitrate or a direct data-use measurement. Multiplying them by playback time would not give an exact stream-use estimate. The broadcaster’s upload setting is not the viewer’s download rate
The live encoder’s ingest bitrate is the rate the broadcaster sends to YouTube. YouTube transcodes live streams into outputs for viewers, so the encoder setting does not tell you how much data a viewer downloads. Measure your own 24/7 viewing
- Set the quality you intend to watch. In the YouTube player, open Settings, choose Quality, and select the desired option rather than leaving it on Auto.
- Record a baseline. Check your router or device’s data-usage meter before playback. If possible, pause other household traffic or record its normal use separately.
- Play the stream for a representative period. Use the stream and device in the usual way, including the quality you plan to keep. Note the meter’s increase and the elapsed time.
- Estimate a month. Divide the measured data by the test duration in days, then multiply by 30. This assumes the tested rate and quality remain representative.
- Compare with the right Airtel allowance. Use the allowance or fair-use terms that apply to your exact service and current plan, and include the household’s other data use.
A short test can miss changes in quality or interruptions. A longer representative measurement is more useful for a stream intended to play around the clock.
Will it reach an Airtel broadband fair-use threshold?
Airtel’s Xstream Fiber plans page advertises unlimited data, but applicable fair-use conditions depend on the offer and account. Airtel’s terms include a 3,333 GB billing-cycle threshold for a referenced plan and a separate 1 TB monthly fair-use condition in an AirFiber offer context. Neither figure should be assumed to apply to every Airtel broadband customer. Check your service type, plan, and account terms before comparing your measured total with a limit.
