Does Switchboard Live charge per YouTube channel?
Not according to the public pricing information. Switchboard says its plans include unlimited multistreaming destinations, and its Help Center says, “Switchboard allows you to live stream to an unlimited number of destinations.” The pricing page does not describe YouTube channels as the unit of charge, nor does the destination help page list an additional fee for custom RTMP destinations. Ask Switchboard to confirm the terms for your account, but do not estimate the subscription by assuming every YouTube channel costs extra.
The published pricing page says, “We offer monthly or annual seat based licenses.” It lists plan features but no dollar amounts. A current quote is therefore necessary; public information does not establish the negotiated price, applicable taxes, discounts, or account-specific terms. - Team access: Count the people who need account access. The pricing page lists two team members for SMB, three for Public Sector, and three or more for Enterprise. Confirm exact seat rules and the price in your quote.
- Inputs and concurrent workflows: The displayed tiers list one RTMP input for SMB, one RTMP or SRT input for Public Sector, and three RTMP or SRT inputs for Enterprise. Switchboard’s FAQ says two or more encoder workflows can run simultaneously, each with its own server URL and stream key. Explain how many feeds or workflows must run at once and ask which plan supports them.
- Channels and destinations: Give the number of YouTube channels and other destinations you intend to use, even though public summaries advertise unlimited destinations. Also specify which streams must go to which channels simultaneously; destination allowance alone does not establish that every workflow fits a plan’s input limits.
- Schedule and duration: Describe the number of streams, how long each runs, and how frequently they run. Switchboard recommends considering those factors when choosing a subscription.
- Archives: State whether you need stored broadcasts and your retention period. The displayed Public Sector plan lists a 30-day archive; Enterprise lists 30+ day archives.
- Operations and support: Say whether you need 24/7 streams, phone support, or account hierarchy. Those capabilities appear in the Enterprise plan summary.
- Billing term: Ask for both monthly and annual options if you are comparing total cost, and confirm the term and cancellation conditions in the quote.

How to estimate the subscription, step by step
- Write down the production design. List every YouTube channel, which streams go to each, how many must be live at the same time, and whether the encoder sends RTMP or SRT.
- Count licensed users. Identify each person who needs access and compare the count with the plan summaries. Do not assume the listed seat count determines the price; ask for exact quote terms.
- Match concurrent inputs to the plan. Compare your required feeds with the listed input capacities. If using multiple encoder workflows, verify that the plan allows the exact number to operate simultaneously and ask whether each requires a separate URL and stream key.
- Specify retention and operational requirements. Include archive duration, 24/7 operation, phone support, and account hierarchy where needed.
- Request a quote for the complete scenario. Ask for monthly and annual pricing for the same configuration, with any fees, taxes, discounts, and contract conditions identified. Have Switchboard confirm that the plan supports all intended channels and simultaneous workflows.
What the trial can—and cannot—tell you about cost
Switchboard’s trial page describes a 99-broadcast-minute trial for Indie and Pro plans. That is an evaluation allowance, not a published post-trial price or a rate formula. Do not multiply the trial minutes or extrapolate them into a subscription estimate. Keep production equipment separate from the subscription
Switchboard receives a feed from an encoder and routes it to destinations; the encoder and production gear are separate budget items. Its encoder guidance includes software, hardware, mobile, and cloud categories, and identifies OBS as free software. A paid hardware encoder, camera, microphone, capture card, or network accessory is not established as a mandatory Switchboard subscription cost. Budget for equipment only if your existing production setup cannot provide the feed you need.
Before connecting a channel, enable YouTube live streaming on it. Switchboard’s setup guide says activation can take up to 24 hours. It also explains that multiple YouTube channels accessible through the same Google login can be connected and enabled in a stream group.
