You can run a continuous Hindi music stream with Docker Compose by keeping a music playlist and visual on a host, running FFmpeg in a container to loop and encode them, and sending the output to YouTube Live with the stream URL and key from YouTube Studio. Compose makes the service repeatable and easier to manage; it does not clear music rights or guarantee an uninterrupted broadcast. This guide uses a still image and MP3 playlist as an example. You can adapt it to a prepared video, but check the options supported by your FFmpeg build.
What you need before you start
The setup has three parts: Compose starts the container, FFmpeg turns the selected audio and visual into a live video stream, and YouTube Live receives that stream. Use a computer or server that can remain powered on and connected to the internet for as long as you want the broadcast to run.
- Docker Engine and Docker Compose installed on the host.
- Hindi music you are permitted to broadcast, including any rights needed for a YouTube archive or monetization.
- A visual source, such as a still image you are permitted to use, or a prepared video.
- A YouTube channel with live streaming enabled. YouTube says first-time live activation may take up to 24 hours.
- Host capacity and connectivity adequate for the chosen encode and continuous outbound streaming. With a home host, power, network, and storage are your responsibility.
A VPS is another way to host the same kind of service if you do not want to leave a home computer running. Compare the provider’s storage, outbound bandwidth, region, recurring cost, and the amount of server administration you are comfortable doing; no particular provider is required for this software approach.
Clear music and image rights before going live
Rights are a go/no-go requirement, not a Docker setting. Obtain permission from the applicable rights holders for live transmission and for any archive or monetization you plan. Keep records of licenses and what they permit. Crediting the artist, owning a consumer download, or finding a track already on YouTube does not by itself grant broadcast rights. No blanket license route specific to Hindi music is established here, and rights requirements can depend on the material and jurisdiction.

YouTube Help says all live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content. A match can replace the broadcast with a placeholder and prompt you to stop; continued third-party content may interrupt or terminate the stream. If you have a license for third-party material, YouTube instructs streamers to ask the rights holder to add the channel to its Content ID allowlist. A license alone may not prevent an interruption if the channel is not allowlisted. Check the allowlist status with the rights holder before launch.
YouTube’s monetization rules apply to live streams. Its policy expects monetized content to be original and authentic, and says mass-produced, repetitive material and image slideshows with little or no narrative, commentary, or educational value may be ineligible. A repeated music playlist with an unchanging image therefore carries a monetization risk. Being live for many hours does not guarantee monetization.
Create the YouTube Live stream and copy its current ingest details
- Enable live streaming. In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and complete channel activation if prompted. Allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation.
- Create or schedule the stream. In Live Control Room, create a live stream or schedule one, then find the encoder connection details.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key from the dashboard. Prefer RTMPS when your encoder supports it. YouTube defines RTMPS as RTMP over TLS/SSL; the default URL shown may be ordinary RTMP. Follow YouTube’s current Live Control Room instructions to reveal the RTMPS URL, and use the URL displayed for your stream rather than copying one from an old tutorial.
- Protect the key like a password. Put the complete output address, including the key, in runtime configuration that is not committed to a repository. Do not expose it in a public Compose file, screenshot, or shared log. Anyone with a usable key may be able to broadcast to the stream.
For a scheduled stream, YouTube’s encoder instructions say to wait for the preview and then click Go live. A stream shorter than 12 hours is automatically archived according to those instructions; do not assume one indefinitely running broadcast will be archived as one complete recording.

Prepare the music and visual files
Create a project directory on the host, for example hindi-live/, and place the following files in it. The filenames below are examples; keep playlist paths and mounted paths consistent.
Dockerfile— builds a small image containing FFmpeg.compose.yaml— defines the service, mounts, and launch command.playlist.txt— lists the audio tracks FFmpeg should play.background.jpg— the still visual for this example.music/— the host directory containing authorized audio files..env— local runtime configuration containing the YouTube output address.
Use simple filenames without apostrophes for the example playlist format below. Create playlist.txt with one entry per track, in the order you want them played:

Create .env containing the complete output URL from YouTube Live Control Room, including the stream key. Its exact value is different for each stream, so do not copy a key from an example:
YOUTUBE_OUTPUT=PASTE_THE_COMPLETE_YOUTUBE_INGEST_ADDRESS_HEREProtect this file and exclude it from version control. For example, add .env to .gitignore, restrict access to it on the host, and never post its contents. A local environment file is convenient configuration, not a secrets vault; limit who can access the host and Docker environment.
Build and run the Compose service
1. Build an image that has FFmpeg
This Dockerfile is an example using Debian’s packaged FFmpeg. The package version can change; it is not an official YouTube image or a single mandated FFmpeg build.

Save this as compose.yaml. The example encodes a still image at 1080p30 with H.264 video and AAC audio, then publishes a FLV output to the YouTube address. These are example settings, not a universal recommendation: confirm that your FFmpeg build supports the selected options and use the current ingest guidance shown in YouTube Studio. The bitrate and keyframe interval may need changing for your resolution, connection, and current YouTube requirements.

init: trueFFmpeg’s -re paces the playlist input in real time; -stream_loop -1 repeats it indefinitely; the looping image supplies video while the audio plays. The example’s 30 fps output and 60-frame GOP give a two-second keyframe interval. H.264 and AAC are the selected codecs here, not a guarantee that every account, source file, or FFmpeg build will behave identically. A playlist with incompatible or damaged files can still fail.
restart: unless-stopped asks Docker to restart the container after an exit unless you deliberately stop it. It does not itself detect whether YouTube is receiving healthy video. Nor can it fix an invalid key, rights match, missing media, host power loss, network outage, or YouTube-side interruption.

3. Validate, start, and check the preview
- From the project directory, run
docker compose configto check the resolved Compose configuration. Do not paste its output publicly: configuration inspection can reveal sensitive values. - Start the container in the background with
docker compose up -d. - Follow the process output with
docker compose logs -f hindi-radio. Stop following the log withCtrl+C; that exits log viewing, not the service. - Check Live Control Room for the incoming preview and stream health. For a scheduled stream, wait for the preview and click Go live as YouTube instructs. Confirm that the expected Hindi audio and visual are present before promoting a public broadcast.
Test privately or unlisted first, then verify both sides: FFmpeg is running in the container, and the Live Control Room preview is actually receiving the stream. A running container alone is not proof that a public broadcast is reaching viewers.

- Stop it: run
docker compose downfrom the project directory. A laterdocker compose up -dstarts the service again. - Restart after a configuration or playlist change: stop the service, update the files, validate with
docker compose config, and start it again. If you change the Dockerfile, rebuild withdocker compose up -d --build. - Keep the library persistent: the example mounts the host’s
music/directory read-only into the container. Rebuilding the image does not erase that host library. Back up the host files and playlist separately. - Monitor deliberately: inspect container logs and the Live Control Room preview periodically. A health check can report whether a process responds, but it cannot establish that the broadcast is rights-cleared or healthy end to end.
Troubleshoot common failures

Costs and continuity trade-offs
Docker Compose and FFmpeg are software components in this setup, but running the service still uses a host, electricity, storage, and outbound network capacity. A home machine avoids choosing a server provider but remains dependent on home power and internet. A VPS moves the host to a provider, but its recurring cost, media transfer, storage, bandwidth, region, and administration vary; no single provider or price is established here. A hardware encoder is not required for the software route described above.

Compose provides a repeatable service definition, persistent host-mounted media, configuration validation, logs, and restart controls. Those tools improve operation and recovery from some process failures; they do not amount to a service-level uptime guarantee or solve YouTube, rights, host, or network failures.
