To loop a prerecorded Stardew Valley video on a YouTube livestream, add it to OBS as a Media Source, enable Loop, and send OBS to YouTube Live using the server URL and stream key from Live Control Room. For multiple recordings, use OBS’s VLC Video source and enable Loop Playlist. Check the preview and audio before starting; YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days.
Before you start: check channel access and prepare the archive
- Your YouTube channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. YouTube identifies an encoder such as OBS as a typical way to stream gameplay. YouTube’s live-streaming guidance explains eligibility and setup.
- Have the finished video file available on the computer running OBS. For a playlist, gather the files and decide whether you want them in a fixed order or shuffled.
- Check that the archive’s video and audio are suitable for rebroadcast. Having a playable file does not establish that you have all rights needed to stream or monetize everything in it.
- Keep an independent local copy if the recording matters. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, but streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all.
Choose how OBS should repeat the footage
One recording: Media Source
In OBS, add the file as a Media Source and turn on Loop. When the video reaches its end, OBS starts that file again. This is the simplest choice when you want the same recording to repeat.

Several recordings: VLC Video playlist
For multiple files, add a VLC Video source, populate its playlist, and enable Loop Playlist. Set the playlist order or shuffle behavior to suit the broadcast. OBS notes that VLC must be installed for the VLC Video source to appear. See the OBS Media Sources guide for the source controls.
Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Live Control Room. Create or select a stream and locate its server URL and stream key.
- In OBS, open Settings and then Stream. Choose YouTube as the service if available, then enter the server URL and stream key from Live Control Room. YouTube’s encoder guide says to enter those values into the encoder to start streaming: YouTube Help: encoder streaming.
- Treat the stream key like a password. Do not display it in the broadcast, screenshots, or a public post. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio before continuing.
- Before starting the public broadcast, check OBS’s output settings and select a resolution and bitrate that your stable upload connection can sustain. YouTube recommends choosing settings that fit the available upload bandwidth, supports automatic transcoding into multiple output formats, and recommends RTMPS delivery. Detailed current recommendations are in YouTube’s encoder settings guide.
- Start the stream from OBS and inspect the Live Control Room preview. Confirm that the footage moves, the game audio is audible at a sensible level, and the stream-health indicator is acceptable. YouTube advises testing the feed and monitoring stream health; do not assume a successful connection guarantees an uninterrupted broadcast.
Rights, music, and monetization
Do not assume that an archive is cleared for continuous rebroadcast just because it contains gameplay. YouTube says monetization of game content depends on the commercial-use rights granted by the game publisher. It warns that extended gameplay without the appropriate license may not qualify; gameplay with step-by-step commentary tied to the action and offering instructional or educational value may be monetizable. That is YouTube’s platform guidance, not a determination of the rights for a specific Stardew Valley recording. Read YouTube’s video-game content monetization guidance and check the terms that apply to your recording.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. It may replace a stream with a placeholder, interrupt or terminate the broadcast, and issue claims on an archived live video after the stream ends. Check music and other third-party material in the archive separately; the game’s presence does not settle the rights to its soundtrack or any added audio. See YouTube’s guidance on copyrighted content in live streams.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you want the archive to keep looping without leaving a computer running at home, StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos. The VLC Video source is missing
OBS requires VLC to be installed for this source to appear. Install VLC, restart OBS if needed, then add the VLC Video source and populate its playlist.
The video stops instead of repeating
For one file, confirm that Loop is enabled in the Media Source properties. For a playlist, check Loop Playlist on the VLC Video source rather than relying on the single-file control.

YouTube does not receive the OBS stream
Verify that you copied the server URL and stream key for the selected stream into OBS’s Stream settings. Check that the key was not changed or reset, and make sure the channel meets YouTube’s live-stream eligibility requirements.
The preview has no audio or video
Check that the media file is available and playing in OBS, that the correct source is visible in the scene, and that the audio meter responds. Recheck the Live Control Room preview before proceeding.

The stream health is poor or the broadcast drops
Reduce the encoder’s resolution or bitrate to a level your stable upload connection can sustain, then test again and monitor stream health. YouTube recommends RTMPS; confirm the selected delivery settings and server URL if the connection remains unstable.
The stream is interrupted for a rights issue
Review YouTube’s notice and identify the flagged audio or video. A live interruption or later claim can involve third-party material in the recording; resolve the rights issue rather than assuming that gameplay footage is automatically exempt.
