For a genuinely free, continuous cloud-hosted devotional stream, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Always Free compute is the strongest-supported DIY option in the available provider information. It is not a one-click streaming service: you must configure and monitor a cloud VM and encoder, supply video you have rights to broadcast, and check that your account can provision the resources you need. The managed services reviewed here offer free ways to test or stream for limited periods, but their cited plan pages do not establish free, uninterrupted 24/7 service.
Which option fits a free 24/7 stream?
| Option | What its published information supports | Fit for continuous free streaming |
|---|---|---|
| StreamNeo | Managed YouTube playout from uploaded videos, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. Every slot supports the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot; the first day is free with no card. | Best if you want to avoid managing a VM and need a continuous stream. It is not a free ongoing plan: the free day is a one-time account offer. |
| OCI Always Free compute | Oracle’s 2026 listing includes Always Free AMD and Arm compute options, including an Arm Ampere A1 allowance of 1,500 OCPU hours and 9,000 GB-hours monthly, plus up to 10 TB monthly outbound data transfer. | Best-supported DIY candidate for avoiding a subscription, provided you can configure and operate the system and your account can provision a suitable VM. |
| Upstream free plan | Upstream’s page accessed October 3, 2026 says the free plan includes 24 streaming hours per month. Its always-on channel requires a paid plan starting at $30 monthly. | Useful for trying the service or limited streaming, not enough for 24/7 use on the cited free allowance. |
| playout.video church plan | The church page accessed October 3, 2026 advertises a free plan with one 1080p stream, a watermark, and 10 GB of library storage. Its main product page says 24/7 channels are included on paid plans. | Potentially useful for testing or scheduled streams; the reviewed pages do not establish that continuous 24/7 service is free. |
At 24 hours a day, a 30-day month requires about 720 streaming hours. That makes Upstream’s published 24-hour monthly free allowance a limited trial or occasional-use option, not a continuous-stream solution. Plan terms and availability can change, so confirm the provider’s current page before signing up.
1. StreamNeo: managed cloud playout without VM administration
StreamNeo is the most direct managed option here if your priority is keeping an uploaded-video YouTube stream running without leaving a computer on. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and start the stream; StreamNeo loops the content from the cloud. It is YouTube-only and plays uploaded videos rather than broadcasting a live camera feed.
- Each slot includes one always-on stream, 10 GB of storage per slot (pooled across active slots), 24/7 looping and playlists, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and support from the StreamNeo team.
- Videos stream as uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, with no re-encode and no quality tiers. Every plan has the same features; only the billing period changes.
- Billing choices are Daily $0.99 per day · Weekly $2.99 per week · Monthly $9.99 per month · 6 months $49.99 for 6 months · Yearly $89.99 a year. The price display presents the applicable currency by visitor location.
- The first day is free with no card, once per account. UPI and cards are available in India; card checkout is available worldwide. For five or more slots, contact support.

2. OCI Always Free: the DIY cloud route
A cloud VM is only the hosting environment. You still need an encoder or playout process that sends your devotional video to YouTube, media to play, and an operating plan for monitoring and reconnects. Oracle’s Always Free resource figures describe account limits, not a certification that every VM shape, video profile, or YouTube stream will work. Oracle also distinguishes Always Free services from 30-day trial credits; trial credits should not be mistaken for permanently free capacity. See Oracle Cloud Free Tier for current services and terms.
Check eligibility and capacity before building
- Confirm that your account is eligible for the Always Free resources you intend to use and that the desired VM shape is available in your selected region.
- Review account limits, current resource terms, and billing safeguards before provisioning. The published allowance does not establish that every account can obtain the requested capacity.
- Estimate how much video data you will send from the VM to YouTube. Oracle lists up to 10 TB monthly outbound transfer for the Always Free offering, but this is a cloud-account allowance, not a guarantee of uninterrupted streaming.
- Keep in mind that VM configuration, media storage, encoder operation, and stream monitoring remain your responsibility.
Prepare the YouTube channel and stream
- Verify the channel and check its live-stream status. YouTube Help says: “To live stream, you need to have no live streaming restrictions in the past 90 days and you need to verify your channel.” See YouTube’s live-streaming setup help.
- In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live stream and obtain the stream key and server details for an encoder. Treat the key like a password: anyone who has it may be able to send video to your channel. YouTube documents up to 10 active streams per channel and up to three active streams per stream key on the same help page.
- Choose an encoder or playout program that can run on your VM and feed it your authorized media. The Oracle allowance page does not specify a recommended encoder, bitrate, keyframe interval, or compatible media profile; check the encoder and YouTube instructions for the exact settings they support rather than assuming a particular configuration.
- Start the encoder, then check the YouTube live control room for an incoming signal and any stream-health warnings. Test the full workflow before relying on it for a scheduled devotional program.
- Plan how you will notice a stopped VM, failed encoder, expired credentials, or lost YouTube ingest. A VM does not itself monitor or restart a stream, and the cited Oracle listing does not promise stream-specific reconnect or recovery behavior.
Managed free plans: what they can and cannot do
Upstream
Upstream says its free plan includes 24 streaming hours every month and no credit card. The same provider page says, “An always-on channel needs a paid plan, which starts at $30 a month.” That allowance is far below a full month of continuous streaming. See Upstream’s plan and FAQ page for current terms.

playout.video
playout.video’s church page advertises a free plan with one 1080p stream, a watermark, and 10 GB of library storage. Its main product page places 24/7 channels on paid plans, so do not infer that the church free plan includes continuous streaming. Check the current entitlements on the church plan page and main product page.

Common failure points and what to check
- YouTube does not accept the stream: Confirm the channel is verified and has no live-stream restriction in the preceding 90 days; check that you selected the matching stream key and server details.
- The cloud VM cannot be created: Check region availability, account eligibility, quotas, and the selected shape. A listed Always Free allowance does not mean capacity is available in every region or account.
- The stream stops after a while: Check whether the VM or encoder process stopped, whether credentials or the stream key changed, and whether your own monitoring will alert you. Do not assume a general-purpose VM automatically reconnects to YouTube.
- A supposedly free plan stops before a full day: Compare the plan’s monthly hours and 24/7 entitlements. Upstream’s cited free plan is 24 hours monthly; playout.video’s reviewed church page does not establish free 24/7 access.
- A devotional video is blocked or interrupted: Review YouTube’s notice and verify rights for the specific recording, music, and visuals. Religious use alone does not establish permission.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you want to avoid configuring and monitoring a VM, StreamNeo’s workflow is short: upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it streams the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one price per slot, and it automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
