You can broadcast prerecorded teacher training courses as a continuous YouTube Live stream by sending a course playlist through an encoder. First confirm that you have livestream rights for every part of the course, then enable live streaming on your channel, configure an encoder with YouTube’s server URL and stream key, and test the feed and recovery plan before launch. For unattended playback, compare a cloud service with a computer-based encoder; neither removes the need to monitor the broadcast and manage rights.
What you need for a 24/7 course stream
An encoder sends video to YouTube Live. It may be software running on a computer, supported hardware, or a cloud-based playout service. YouTube lists Gyre as a cloud-based option for 24/7 prerecorded-video streams, alongside software and hardware encoder choices. YouTube’s listing establishes that it is a relevant workflow option, not an endorsement or verification of its performance or current commercial terms. YouTube’s encoder guide says verified products are not made by YouTube.
For a training channel, the practical decision is whether your course library can be queued and looped without an operator continually restarting playback, and what happens when the encoder or connection fails. Plan who will monitor the stream, how they will respond to an alert, and how you will restart or switch to a backup.
Check livestream rights before scheduling
Having a course file does not by itself establish permission to broadcast it. YouTube’s livestream terms require the provider to have the necessary rights for worldwide exploitation of Live Content on Google services, including applicable music rights, and to follow applicable laws and regulations. The terms also state: “The Live Content must comply with the YouTube Community Guidelines.” Review the actual agreements for your course and any third-party material; what a particular license permits depends on its wording. - Check rights for every lesson, slide, image, music track, excerpt, and guest contribution.
- Confirm that permission covers public livestreaming and continuous rebroadcast, as well as the territories where viewers may watch.
- Check whether a guest release or third-party license limits where, when, or how the material may be used.
YouTube scans livestreams for third-party content. A match can trigger a warning and replacement of the stream with a placeholder; if the content continues, YouTube may interrupt or terminate the stream. If you have permission to use matched material, YouTube says to ask the rights holder to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. A license alone may not prevent interruption if the channel is not allowlisted. See YouTube’s guidance on live-stream copyright.
Set up the YouTube Live feed
- Enable live streaming. Confirm that live streaming is available for your channel and that it has no restriction preventing the broadcast. YouTube says first-time enablement can take up to 24 hours, so do this before your planned launch. Check YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance.
- Choose the playback workflow. YouTube lists Gyre for cloud-based 24/7 streaming of prerecorded video; OBS and supported hardware are other encoder routes. Before choosing, check unattended playlist handling, restart and failover behavior, monitoring, operating cost, support terms, and who will respond if the stream stops. YouTube’s listing does not establish a ranking among these options. Review encoder options.
- Create or open the stream in YouTube Studio. Follow YouTube’s encoder setup flow and copy the YouTube server URL and stream key into the encoder. Keep the key private: treat it like a password and share it only with trusted channel operators. YouTube’s encoder instructions.
- Build and check the playlist. Queue the lessons in the intended order and confirm that the encoder is set to repeat or otherwise continue playback as planned. Check transitions, audio levels, and any opening or closing material so viewers do not encounter an unintended gap or an abrupt end.
- Preview and test. Before announcing the stream, check that the feed appears on the channel’s watch page and on a mobile device. Listen for audio problems and inspect the picture. Test your restart or backup procedure rather than assuming it will work during an incident.
- Launch and monitor. Keep a responsible operator or alert-response plan in place. YouTube recommends continuous audio and video monitoring and testing encoder failover; a continuous stream is an operational service, not a set-and-forget guarantee. Choose between cloud playout and a local encoder
Use these questions to assess a cloud service, a software encoder such as OBS, or a supported hardware path. YouTube provides encoder categories and operational guidance, not a comparative product ranking.

- Unattended playback: Can it loop or schedule your existing course library without someone manually restarting each lesson?
- Recovery: What happens after an encoder crash, power loss, or YouTube disconnect, and who can restart it?
- Monitoring: Are stream health and failures visible to someone who can act on them?
- Dependencies: Does the workflow require a computer, local network, or separate cloud setup to remain available?
- Cost and support: What are the current operating and support terms, and are they suitable for your required schedule?
Protect the stream from network failures
For a locally running encoder, the internet connection must sustain the stream. YouTube recommends keeping upload capacity above the stream’s total bitrate with a 20% margin. If primary and backup encoders both send data, account for both streams plus that margin. A connectivity disruption can break the broadcast. YouTube’s network and stream-health guidance also recommends testing failover.
A wired Ethernet connection, such as a computer-to-router connection using Cat6 cable, is an optional way to avoid relying on local Wi-Fi. It does not increase the internet plan’s upload capacity or fix an unreliable ISP connection. Test the complete setup—including any backup path—before relying on it for a long broadcast.

Plan for archives and monetization separately
YouTube’s encoder instructions say streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. A planned 24/7 broadcast exceeds that documented duration, so do not assume that the entire continuous run will be retained as one archive. Keep an approved source archive separately and decide how to preserve or divide any recordings you need. See YouTube’s archive guidance.
Do not assume a continuous course stream will be monetized. YouTube’s encoder instructions describe a monetization route that requires YouTube Partner Program participation; check current eligibility and applicable rules in YouTube’s documentation before planning revenue.
