To keep recorded mindfulness study sessions playing on YouTube around the clock, send a prerecorded playlist to a YouTube livestream through an encoder or cloud playout service. YouTube Studio supplies the stream URL and stream key; the encoder sends the video to YouTube, where viewers watch it as a live broadcast. Set up the channel first, clear the rights to every recording, test the stream, and keep your own source and archive files—YouTube may not capture a broadcast that runs longer than 12 hours.
What you need for an always-on mindfulness stream
The basic setup has four parts: a YouTube channel enabled for live streaming, recorded sessions you have permission to broadcast, an encoder that can play or loop them, and a stable connection from the encoder to YouTube. YouTube supports software and hardware encoders and lists a cloud service for continuous streaming of prerecorded videos among its encoder resources. See YouTube’s encoder guidance.
- Recorded content: Prepare the sessions, visuals and audio you intend to play. A microphone is optional; it can be useful when recording spoken guidance, but YouTube does not require one.
- Encoder or cloud playout: Choose a workflow that can play your recordings continuously and connect to YouTube using its stream URL and key.
- Monitoring and backups: Keep the original media and, if practical, a local recording of the broadcast. Check the live preview and watch page after launch.
Prepare the channel and content
Enable live streaming
- Verify your YouTube channel and check that it has no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days.
- Request live-stream access. YouTube says first-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so do this before your planned launch rather than on the day.

Clear every element in the sessions
Confirm that you have the necessary rights for the speech, music, images, ambient audio and other material in each recording, including for the territories where the stream will be available. YouTube scans live broadcasts for third-party content. If it detects material belonging to another party, it may replace the stream image, interrupt the stream or terminate it. YouTube explains its live-stream copyright enforcement.

A license by itself may not prevent an interruption: YouTube says a rights holder may need to allowlist your channel through Content ID. Contact the rights holder about that step when applicable. The livestream terms also require you to have the rights needed for worldwide exploitation of live content on Google services, including applicable music licensing rights. Connect an encoder to YouTube Studio
- In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create or schedule a live stream. Use the stream settings shown for that broadcast.
- Copy the YouTube stream URL and stream key into the corresponding connection fields in your encoder or cloud playout service. Treat the key like a password: anyone who gets it may be able to send video to your channel. Do not publish it or include it in screenshots.
- In the encoder, select the recording or playlist and set it to loop if you want playback to continue after the playlist ends. Confirm the intended order and transitions before launch.
- Start the encoder’s output and check the Live Control Room preview. Start the public broadcast only when the preview shows the correct video and audio.

Test and monitor before leaving the stream unattended
A continuous broadcast needs monitoring even if the playback itself is automated. Run a test long enough to catch playlist gaps, unexpected silence, audio clipping, connection instability and incorrect stream settings. Verify both the Live Control Room preview and the public watch page from a separate device or browser.
- Listen for speech that is too quiet or music that masks spoken instructions.
- Check that the playlist restarts or advances as intended and that no unintended private or unfinished material appears.
- Confirm that your network can sustain the encoder’s upload demand with headroom. Avoid saturating the connection with other uploads or heavy traffic.
- If you rely on a local recording, verify that the archive file is being created and continues to grow.
- Recheck the stream after launch and periodically thereafter; a successful preview before launch does not guarantee that playback, audio or connectivity will remain correct.

Keep the sessions and archives safe
Continuous playback and replay preservation are separate jobs. YouTube automatically archives streams shorter than 12 hours, but it warns that a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. YouTube’s advice is to keep a local archive backup. For an always-on broadcast, retain the original session files as well; do not depend on one uninterrupted YouTube replay as your only copy. Troubleshoot common launch problems
