To keep Malayalam bhajans live on YouTube, use an eligible channel, clear the rights to every recording or performance, and send the program through an encoder—or use a cloud service that loops uploaded videos. For a do-it-yourself encoder setup, plan to monitor the stream and its connection; YouTube does not promise uninterrupted service or specify a dependable maximum runtime for this use case.
Choose how the bhajans will play
For a planned, sustained broadcast, an encoder is the most relevant YouTube option. It can send prerecorded audio and video or a live performance, and YouTube describes encoder streaming as suitable for productions using equipment such as microphones and preamps. Mobile and webcam approaches are also available, but the right choice depends on whether you are singing live, playing cleared recordings, and able to monitor the broadcast. A microphone is optional: it can capture a singer or host, but it is not needed just to play prerecorded bhajans. You do not need expensive equipment to begin.
Check channel eligibility and music rights first
Confirm that live streaming is enabled
YouTube’s current eligibility guidance requires a verified channel with no live-stream restrictions in the previous 90 days, and says streamers must be at least 16. Check the channel in YouTube Studio before scheduling. First-time activation may take time, so do not leave it until the planned start. Requirements and interface details can change; confirm them on YouTube’s current help page.

Clear each recording and performance
Make a track-by-track rights list covering the actual recording, arrangement, performer, and rights holder. Obtain the permissions required for YouTube use, considering the territories where the stream will be available and any applicable public-performance requirements. A song’s traditional or devotional status does not establish that a particular recording or arrangement is cleared. Credit, a religious purpose, or the age of a composition is not a substitute for permission.
YouTube’s livestream terms require the creator to have the necessary rights for the live content, including music rights from artists, record labels, publishers and other royalty participants. Keep written permissions and ask rights holders whether they need to allowlist your channel in Content ID. Licensing obligations can vary by jurisdiction and ownership; the YouTube terms do not resolve every local requirement.

Set up a continuous encoder stream
- Prepare the program. Assemble the bhajans in the intended order and check that each item is cleared. Decide whether the broadcast is prerecorded playback, live singing, or a combination. Keep a copy of the permissions and the track list available to the operator.
- Create or schedule the event. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or schedule a live event. Choose the encoder workflow and copy the event’s stream information into the encoder you selected. Interface labels may change; follow the current YouTube setup guidance.
- Protect the stream key. Enter the key only in the chosen encoder and treat it like a password. Do not publish it, send it in a public message, or embed it in material viewers can access. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- Test the entire chain. Measure upload speed on the connection the encoder will actually use; download speed is not the relevant capacity. YouTube recommends keeping the total stream bitrate below available upload bandwidth and leaving 20% spare capacity. This is an operational recommendation, not a guarantee. Test the complete setup, preview the event, and check audio and video before going live. YouTube’s streaming tips cover testing and monitoring.
- Check playback from a viewer’s perspective. Confirm the preview and public watch page work, then check playback on a phone as well as the production screen. Listen for clean, continuous audio and watch for video freezes, encoder warnings, or a weak network connection. Test any backup connection or equipment you intend to rely on.
- Operate and monitor the broadcast. Keep an operator responsible for playback, audio levels, encoder status, and the network. YouTube recommends continuous audio and video monitoring. Assign someone to respond to interruptions or rights warnings rather than assuming the stream will run unattended indefinitely.
- Review the archive and claims. If YouTube archives the stream, inspect the finished video and YouTube Studio for Content ID claims or restrictions. A stream that remained live is not automatically cleared for its archive. Address claims through the rights holder and YouTube’s process.
Know what can interrupt the stream
YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. Its copyright guidance says all live streams are scanned for matches, including copyrighted content in another live broadcast. A match can trigger a warning, replacement audio or video, interruption, or termination. Licensed material may still require the rights owner to allowlist the channel; ask before broadcasting.
A stream can also fail because the upload connection or encoder is unstable. The 20% upload headroom recommendation helps with capacity planning, but it does not prevent outages. A backup connection can help if the primary connection fails, but test the actual backup path before relying on it.
